"Yes agreed.. great drama but did miss the singing.. 
I didn't (and I love musicals). This felt like a better telling of the whole story.

I’ve never seen the musical or read the book so watching the series as a period drama I can say it was excellent, I don’t know how close the adaptation is to the musical etc? Perhaps I should go and watch. Javert got right under my skin, great character |

I thought Javert was played with just the right amount of annoying smugness and rectitude.
