Oops, sorry - not a comedy, but a great show. |

I was really surprised to find out the other day that "George" (Bryan Murphy) is still alive! He looked old in George and Mildred and that was about 40 years ago. Yootha Joyce died in 1980. |

Lots of shows and films, both comedy and serious, use a crook as the lead. You root for them cos you wish you had that little rebellious streak in you too or cos you see them taking from those who are getting rich just as immorally but within the law or cos you start to see them not just as criminals but as people who made mistakes, just like we all do or were dealt a bad hand and ran out of choices. |

I think you need to watch them again, the only job Rodney had was working for Cassandra dad or with del and that suitcase. I know them back to back |

He worked for his brother still didn't claim the dole and neither did Del which you been saying you really need to watch them all be before passing judgement. |

It wasn't a judgement, just a throwaway comment about a lowbrow comedy show. I really don't care that much, if at all. |

Brilliant writing, brilliant characters, but it was Arthur Lowe, capt.Manwairing held everything together, fantastic character acting.
Watched the remake they made a couple of years back, all reasonable actors but the show was utter bollox.
Make new shows, don't recast old ones. |

There were so many classics back then.. Dads army, still love it today, the good life, yes minister, muppet show, citizen smith, reggie perrin.. Love thy neighbour, this was a funny one in a sense, in that it was seen as racist but actually it was poking fun at the white man.. Slovenly, scruffy, base, not that intelligent whereas on the other side you had intelligent, sharp dressed, smoooth in the right way etc... But it will never be shown again, i m sure.. Aint half hot was brill |
