"Yeah it does kind of give it away in the name to be fair
He he - I think it’s understated.....it should have been called, ‘Les Utterly And Irreversibly Despondent, Dejected And Without Hope.’
"

"They need a good sing song to jolly it up a bit.
And the sun to come out - it’s always bloody rainy in the series. Perhaps they are all suffering from SAD? "
Which season was the French Revolution in? |

But at the end of the day it’s another day over
Or as my youngest thought:
'At the end of the table no space for a rooster'

That’s a good misheard lyric, there’s a few good ones in les mis that I’ve misheard over the years |

" It's a very well made series - I could never cope with watching the musical!
I had chest pains from crying at one point. "
I've watched it several times both live and the 25th anniversary dvd and it still gets me every time.

I’m the same, really enjoying the series but the musical has me sobbing till I’m a puffy eyed mess, Fantine breaks my heart |

Is it worth a watch ? I was waiting until I can binge all on catch up
I love the west end show and liked the move with Liam neesan and uma therman
Haven't seen the Russell Crowe one I couldn't imagine him signing |

I love it even if I feel myself wanting to attack the detective with a pick axe . Preferring it to the musical film version, although fitty Hugh is missed |

"I was going to watch the movie (based on the musical) but.......I honestly can’t stand Russell Crowe.
Maybe I’ll brave it - the songs must at least lift the mood a little? Please? "
Just make sure you have plenty of tissues if you do, and no they don’t |

Decided to keep away from this even though I hear it has much more of the story in it compared to the musical but it's one of those musicals that when you see it too much it numbs you from the story! |

It's one of my favourite musicals. The Film version was not as good but far from bad, and even Russell Crowe did the decent thing over his singing. There was a particularly moving moment in it that's not in the stage show.
Have a watch of the first b&w version, that will make you suicidal. I tried to read the book once but it's heavy going and I usually enjoy reading.. |

I think I’ll finish the series and then give the movie a go then - I do especially love the song, ‘Bring Him Home’ which I know features in it (and which may just counterbalance my dislike of Crowe)
My tissues are at the ready.... |

I think the fact that Russel Crowe has a very limited vocal range worked really well for Javert, it made his character seem like he had one code and that was the way, only during his Suisse did his vocal change when he was realising his life had been mistaken |

If your going to get the dvd get the 25th anniversary as it’s got better singers who do the music more justice , then watch the film |

"Oh it's making me tense now, why don't they just bugger off to the south of France away from Jervais!!
They should leave the whole country - sunny Spain might improve their fortunes "
Exactly, makes me cross!! |

That's how it started out but a cost cutting exercise meant they had to shorten it. |

It was almost, almost bordering on a glimpse of happiness last night - the sun was shining in Paris and no one had their teeth pulled out (although there was a bit of self mutilation in the name of manliness).
Hell - a few characters even smiled briefly(!!!)
.....Obviously such joy won’t last long however.
Still, I must say that I’m enjoying it |
