If it's totally meant and the right time then it's nice to hear.
And if you do love someone I think saying it all the time loses its feel good factor but it's nice to hear now and again but better to be shown.
If it was early days and just thrown out flippantly I'd be running a mile |

There and to the left a bit |
Putting aside the familial context (i.e. parents, children, close long term friends) - then it would very much depend on who it was saying it, and the context of the relationship.
As Kaitlynn so adeptly demonstrated it doesn't come down to how much time has passed for a start - think it has to be both heartfelt and sincere for it to mean anything, and certainly if a casual meet from here said it, I'd be filled with fear and looking for the nearest exit |

As others have said it depends who is saying it, the first time my partner said it as we were snuggling down I pretended I hadn’t heard, I used to keep my eyes closed when we first met and he kissed me as I was sure love hearts were popping out my eyes
I’ve also had someone say it after 2 meets and told them to shurrup and not be so daft |

It all depends on the context, if it's a male voice from behind me as I'm walking down a dark alley I'm probably not going to reciprocate the sentiment.
If it's said with the real emotion with someone special then it's a wonderful thing |

my partner and i say it all the while as does my son and i but the best is my grandson who has delayed speech can say love you very much now. I say it to close friends. Anyone else im not intetested especially if it was someone id only seen a couple of times it would let out warning signals |

On the rare occasions my adult children say it, apropos to nothing, it's indescribable the feeling of pure, unadulterated joy.
On the rare, as in thrice in five years rare, my other half has said it it's stopped me in my tracks and left me slightly confused as his actions don't match his words. |

Puts the Fear of God into me.
An incredible feeling, nothing quite like it, but it hurts terribly when it all goes wrong. To the point I'm a bit worried about whether I can take another emotional hammering.
Online dating is a minefield with so many women, men as well I suppose, who seem unable to differentiate love from lust. Or so desperate for a relationship that they'll settle for anyone.
I need time to get to know someone. Last person I fell in love with was two years ago. She told me after three months, I panicked and fucked things up for myself. Still miss her quite a lot. Didn't know what I had till I'd lost it. All through self preservation |

I finished my first boyfriend when he said this to me as it definitely filled me with fear.
I've obviously matured a bit since then and like others have said if it's the right person in the right context then it's great to hear |

Fear.
In my experience it's often said as a manipulation tool.
It's also not what I'm looking for on here.
My family are a strange bunch and never say it.
I can't remember the last time anyone said it to me. |
