Not everyone who voted leave is a racist.....

I’m indebted to Stewart Lee, for that brexit joke

We are attached by geology, business is global. Brexit will make no difference one way or the other in the grand scheme of things. It's just silly politics, the negatives are unknown, as are the positives.

No, it’s my honest opinion , and one that I can’t prove of course, that after ‘hearing somebody talk foreign on a bus’ they all quietly whispered to themselves “no more Romanians” as they put an X in the leave box

They’ll never admit it, but we (the nice half of the population) know what you did !

I mean ... who had even heard of the customs union etc. before they voted ?

As for those 17.2 million.. I also suspect that they wished that a vote on capital punishment had been tacked on the end of the voting slip ...

For clarity I voted remain.

However it’s people like you, Alistair Campbell and Andrew Adonis who will ensure that if there is a second referendum that leave will win once again.

You really should take a long hard look in the mirror and wonder if someone so willing to stereotype people is open minded enough to be in the swinging community.

Well.. actually thinking about it, I probably would , if black guys on fab can put up with been called a spade by the ‘queens of spades’ on here for a shag , then I suppose my little brain would kick in

I suspect there is at least one club that might think this is a plan as they are based in a very pro-brexit town and their owners have posted on here in favour of it.

I suspect mist clubs have enough sense not to mix business and politics though!

Personally I couldn't imagine anything worse. Still I guess clubs that do a buffet could at least serve gammon

Given the population is more or less evenly divided on the issue it would seem to be commercial suicide to hold an event guaranteed to alienate a large proportion of your customers.

Come on. Leavers stereotype remainders as stuck up elitists.

The insults on both sides are telling as there is an element of truth in them. On the whole, the more educated you are the more likely you were to vote remain. Hence one side insults the other as racist thickos and the other side says they are out of touch snobs.

Not necessarily. It just means for what ever reason you believed all the anti-eu rhetoric which has since been repeatedly and roundly disproved. But it is still your choice if you would vote the same again for emotional reasons over factual reasons. The same choice as we all make.

Bottom line is many businesses for many reasons trade even with their own production lines around many European countries. If there is a tax barrier to having one factory in the UK they will move it.

All companies want easy storage distribution and marketing of products, so they will be built packaged etc in a form that can sell through all of Europe including the UK, so different standards won't happen. So the EU will still specify it.

The only benefit to leaving that I can see is when the government want to put a new law in to control the population they will have to take responsibility for it not blame it on Brusselles. But of course if the current deal goes through we can't actually ever leave unless all of the EU says we can go now... and our politicians will have to do what Brusselles says with out a seat in the debate for as long as they want...

Not much to base a party on really

I find it really funny that everyone thinks that somehow our lives are going to change. Nothing will change . You ,I and every other working person on this side of the channel and the other side will have to get up ,go to work and be taxed for the privilege of it . In or out. We are going to have to pay the same bills . Same shite different day . Vote on vote . Nothing will change . Wake up and stop listening to papers , politicians and big business. They lie .

I think it is pathetic the comments of some on this thread. Will i be having a party? No. It's just something i wouldn't celebrate.

Just a quick note on some of the comments. Racist, ignorant, unitelligent....It's astounding how childish and immature people are. Also, the anger and animosity toward people who voted differently from them. It pathetic. We had a vote. You voted the way you voted and that is your right, as it is to vote differently to you. By all means discuss and debate but don't lower yourself to name calling. As soon as that happens, you lose the arguement. Here's another suggestion. If you are going to debate it. Might be an idea to have an actual point to debate.

The dreaded 2nd referendum? Isn't that unprecedented and would cause riots? Didn't we already vote on it?

(aha so that must be what all the stalling for time is about!)

Leaving is 'appening but unlike wot you 'ear on the news it don't all have to be doom and gloom. I'm sure the country doesn't have to shut down!

Might as well focus on the positives and get with it then. I'm sure we can still get on great with the EU when it all settles, it'll just be we have a bit more freedom and independence.

You may have missed the fact that May and the rest of the tory party voted against the setting up of the Welsh assembly and pledged another referendum on it.

Hence its rather hypocritical for her to put forward that argument.

We are attached by geology, business is global. Brexit will make no difference one way or the other in the grand scheme of things. It's just silly politics, the negatives are unknown, as are the positives. "

The negatives are unknown? Beyond the cost of leaving and the dropping of the pound? Lol

Sounds like it could be a good business opportunity afterall there are 17.2 million potential customers! Most of them lovely people not the racist thickos remainers like to make them out to be!

I also suspect that they wished that a vote on capital punishment had been tacked on the end of the voting slip ..."

Not really. Brexit will result in change; for one thing some of those jobs that people are getting up and going to will have gone, moved to Europe.

Scepticism about politics is one thing, sticking your head in the sand and saying that something as significant as leaving the EU will have no effect on anyone is quite another.

There is already a Brexit party going on in London

It’s in a place called Westminster and they are all acting like nothing is happening.

We think the queen should disband this Parliament and get a team in who can deliver what the majority actually voted for.

Judging by the generational cluster fuck this referendum exposed. I suspect that your party would be a bunch of fat old white people. Probably more your demographic OP but I will be in Europe where all the beautiful people of many colours live. You want to turn this country into a paradise of the mundane and mediocre. Congratulations the surest way to ensure we get left behind is leave these decisions to the exiting generation.

Thank you for fucking it up for my children. Thank you for splitting up my family (some of whom are German).

Also for all those short sighted people who think nothing will change. It already has, one of the three jobs I have is in a brewery and we make sorry made Belgian Beer. That was until the boss realised he WILL loose his supply chain in March. No single market means tariffs, tariffs mean higher cost.

Please stop lying about why you voted. Most of us don't have a clue how the economy works so to say that was your reason for leaving is bull.

So in summary for all you "nothings going to happen" people.

I lost a job, seeing members of my family in the EU will be more expensive and worst of all, when I say that I am British now it comes with shame and disgust

Sorry but your boss is a fool, the tarrifs only come in if there is no deal. The current deal means no tarriffs for 2 years, and in fact no tariff for longer than that if the backstop kicks in, as we effectively can't leave until given permission.

Personally I would like to stay in, I won't deny it, but I lost in a democracy so accept we should leave. That is not what makes me completely pissed off with it.

What gets me is TM and her group have made no proper preparations to leave, and made a bad thing into a potential disaster for their own political pleasure, screwing with our futures because they want brexit to fail.

As I said way up the thread, after TM lost the vote nobody is any wiser as to what the hell is going to happen. Her cross party talks is shaping up into a campaign to bully mp's to vote yes to the deal they just rejected.

Bottom line is if we do crash out you can make beer out of anything and call it Belgian beer in future, you can make sparkling wine out of vimto and call it champagn if you want.

It ain't good, but it is what it is and we will have to get on with it when the idiots in Downing street stop playing their games.

This is so true. I hope for the sake of the country that this is not the case and in five or ten years we look back and say sorry to the idiots who convinced some of the nation to vote leave but I feel that will not happen. Maybe then we can discuss parties. But if you speak to people at JLR and many other companies they will have a lot of spare time around the start of April maybe they will party like its 1999.

Us Joe Public should never have voted.

The topix is to big.

After all what do we pay the politicians for ?"

I would disagree, if Joe public was given facts on both sides of the argument and everyone understood then they are far better placed than the politicians who do not have to live with the hardships of a lot of the population to decide what is better for them. I think that as a nation we need to understand better how and what is involved in the country ignore a side just know what is better for them. 8 think the politicians in NI who have not done their paid jobs for 2 years are not in a position to decide if they should buy brown or white bread let alone leave or stay in Europe.

Surprising to see so many minority "Remainers" in the swinging community and even more surprisingly is that they believe the majority of "Leavers" are stupid!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, it does not make them either Racist or Stupid!

Do you own your own home? Do you own your own Car? Do you own anything?

Would you be happy for some stranger to be in control of anything that you own?

Then why on earth would you want some unelected, unknown and corrupt Bureaucrat's to be running your country and deciding it's laws!

At the end of the day vote "Leave" won the referendum, everyone should respect that vote just as they do in a General Election!

Before anyone says, "Oh it was close", actually if you apply the referendum result to a map in the same way that they apply a General Election vote (i.e. first past the post) it would have been an absolute sea of Blue!

If you had not already guessed, we voted "Leave", we voted leave because we wanted change and we wanted our Country to be governed by ourselves and not a European Dictator Superstate!

JLR announced an additional shutdown ages ago for April incase there were supply chain issues in the post brexit panic. They are now as you correctly pointed out being affected by other issues as well but the original placeholder for the additional shutdown down last year was because in part to the uncertainty of brexit and they felt it better to not try to produce cars and fail. So I am not ignoring the other items I am merely going back to the original mention of a shutdown. Unless you were in those meetings and know the real reason then I bow to your better informed knowledge.

Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland & England will lose farming subsidies, Fishermen may gain exclusive access to fishing grounds IF the navy chase off EU boats, but will also lose most of their market for most non cod speicies.

Setting up and staffing these outsourced jobs is what TM should have been doing for the last 2 years!

"To be fair we as a country have already cost ourselves a small fortune. If u eat, or pay any bills, let alone go on holiday then you are out of pocket already. I’ve no idea why anyone would want to celebrate something which has been proven a short term disaster and the long term forecast isn’t looking promising. But u crack on mate, I hope it’s a great party.

i know..... they could slash everything by 15%... to reflect how much less the pound in your pocket is worth since the referendum.....

That will be easy, VAT was an EU agreed sales tax, just scrap it and we are back to square one "

since this is the government who put VAT up to 20%... what in your right mind thinks they would drop it down to zero....

this is going to be an answer worth hearing.... this will be a word salad for the ages!!!

I don’t think u can class the lifting of vat as a benefit of leaving the eu? I haven’t seen anyone promise or even mention that. The point being made was that since the vote the cost of living has risen quite a bit and I was unsure as to the reason to throw a party. I’m all for any kind of tax relief but I can’t see anyone lifting vat. Nice idea tho

But, but, but... they said they want to abolish our human rights, and our working pay and conditions because they are EU things, surely that same strong desire of our most gracious PM will extend to VAT as well

Mate, that makes no financial sense at all. In what has to be an economic downturn, how would someone lower the amount of money going in by lowering taxes? Of any description? Give me one example of this happening ever? And that goes for whoever is in charge at the time no matter who you vote for

"I am so looking forward to the coming year and watching people who wanted leave to lose their jobs and homes because of Brexit.

Some may say that's horrible but No, They voted for it.

I could happily drive past them in the street and shout " you won, get over it"

I thought only nice people voted to remain, you just destroyed that myth! "

Why have I done any wrong?

It's what they voted for... they wanted to cut ties with the biggest market on earth.

If they are so thick to see the trouble it will cause, then watching them suffer is not going to cause me sleepless nights.

They were very quick to tell remainers that we "lost" "get over it"

There is still time to change this.

Most cannot admit they voted wrong though.

So, there’ll be 52 people on one side of the club and 48 on the other, glaring maliciously at each other. A couple at it in the middle, the lady trying to decide whether to disengage gracefully or carry on. An Irish lady will turn up and join-in and shaft them both in the arse with a giant dildo called ‘The Backstop’.

In the end they’ll carry on, as that what was they planned all along.

And then, of course, there’s the knockers

If you had not already guessed, we voted "Leave", we voted leave because we wanted change and we wanted our Country to be governed by ourselves and not a European Dictator Superstate!

I trust you have no friends family who are farmers and are having to then compete with potentially no subsidies from the EU. I am not sure how they will feel or manage as I don't know and it has not been highlighted much by either camp but I know a lot of my families friends and neighbours are farmers at home in Ireland and they are concerned. "

Indeed, how wrong were you! We have many friends who are massive farmers in South Wales. They all voted "Leave" and remain anxious that the Government just get on with it.

Additionally, the subsidies they receive are merely a fraction of what the UK pays in to the UK! After Brexit the UK can (and I hope will) pay these subsidies direct to the farmers.

That said, the Farmers I know say it is merely a bonus.

It was the wrong decision because no one in charge would be able to handle it better

There is a game called tick tack toe

Yes but the point being made was that the job losses were in this country, not Asia, and so nothing to do with the collapse of the Chinese market or competition. The job losses were as a direct result of brexit and not for other reasons as our Walter Mitty style friend had claimed.

having been through the "losing a job i loved doing thru no fault of my own" phase i honestly wouldn't wish that on anyway.... I fear it may happen in the north east because some people think they were bullet-proof and they are about to find out they are not!

i'm ultra realisitic.... its going to be hard.... when they say 10,20, 30 yrs.... i am just glad that everything i desperately needed doing is paid off....

Brexit hasn't happened yet. You losing your job as sad as it might be was your employer using Brexit as an excuse!

So what was the real reason for fords and land rover announcing cutting thousands of jobs last week pray tell?

Because China are building there own landrover called land wind for a third of the price and reliable thay currently 50% of land rovers almost exact replicas Google land wind cars

Only that landrovers manufactured in this country are not sold in china? They have two plants in India and China that cover the Asian market? So if it was the downturn in the Asian market that was the cause then the plants in Asia would be taking the job losses? The Indians Tata own Land Rover so no surprise if it all gets shipped abroad if it’s cheaper labour to make and a bigger market out there.

Yes but the point being made was that the job losses were in this country, not Asia, and so nothing to do with the collapse of the Chinese market or competition. The job losses were as a direct result of brexit and not for other reasons as our Walter Mitty style friend had claimed. "

READ about in the motoring magazines they explain it better than me if you want to disprove your bias! Also if it was just down to Brexit why are Ford cutting jobs throughout Europe!

I think I’ll just go with what the man in charge of the company making the cuts said, instead of chasing conspiracy theories or making stuff up on forums
