Exercise and eat clean, it's that simple.

Exercise can take 20-40 minutes do there is no excuse for lack of time.

Same goes with eating clean, pre cook stuff over the weekend.

What you need is a calorie deficit and by that i mean you need to be burning more calorie from exercise than you are consuming

Stop eating carbs the weight will fall off “ the body cannot burn of excessive amounts of carbs without excersizing “, which in turn are converted to sugars and stored as fats.

For me a constant struggle. Avoid anything with sugar and sweeteners. Easier said than done. There is so much hidden sugar in foods these days. Prepare all your food using fresh ingredients. avoid cooking sauces, make your own.

An hour walking every day and 20 mins exercises in the morning and again in the evening. No eating after 6pm.

FFS!!

Everyone knows how to lose weight.. "eat less.. blah blah blah"

"sugars" yawn

People asking for advice aren't asking for the top 10 google results! (TIP: they've already googled it)

OP --- Find out what is stopping you from achieving your goals, and work on fixing that first, then tackle other things like weight loss etc...

Simple maths... creating a calorie deficit will help you to loose weight.

The best way to to this is to make more of a complete lifestyle change rather than a “diet”

Stay away from fad diets and just completely change your meals.

Yes I am fat.... my own term.... but I am loosing weight by doing this. I lost half a stone in December and am continuing to loose weight now. Actually lost 2 stone by doing this last year, unfortunatly put loads back on due to having an operation and being more immobile. However now I’m doing this again I don’t seem to have any problems.

Get yourself a calorie counting app, there are various ones out there. Most have payable features, but I think pretty much all of them have a free trial for you to give it a go. In put everything you eat and you will quickly realise where you are going wrong and what food you should avoid or switch up for some more healthy/more filling.

I have learnt to create healthy filling low calorie meals as my main meals for home and work. This leaves me with room for a couple of snacks/treats per day to stop sugar cravings and stop me from loosing the will to live.

Exercise wise.... I actually connect my Apple Watch to my app and it works out my burned calories and adds those in for me. I normally burn the recommended calories during my daily activities, so for the moment I don’t actually worry about going the gym that much. I’ve only been the gym twice since restarting my healthy eating. Weight loss is about 90% food and 10% exercise. I will be going back to the gym from next week... but I am going to use this more for the extra calorie burning factor and to help with general fitness and toning rather than as an excuse to eat more.

Having spoken to a pt .... an easy way to cut calories is actually to skip breakfast.... it is actually a myth that skipping breakfast is bad for you.... personally it actually falls quite naturally for me not to eat in a morning. So this works really well for me. If you can’t skip breakfast then take a healthy option of fruit or more something more substantial a bowl of porridge.

Personally I stay away from things like protein shakes and meal replacement shakes.... I think they are a load of crap and a pointless waste of calories when I can make a healthy meal meaning I can eat actual food.

There is also no reason why when doing this you can’t treat yourself to the odd meal out with friends etc as long as it’s not all the time and you try to factor it into your calories as best as you can.

If I know I’m going to have a bad day.... I will aim for weight maintenece over that day/opulent of days and try to get myself back on track quickly on the days after it.

Hope this helps.

It does work honest..... my mum took this to the extreme and lost 8 stone in 12 months. She barely allowed herself any treats though.... so I’d rather do it slightly slower if it means I can have a few bits of cake along the way lol

My fitness pal. Great app for tracking what you eat vs exercise. It's simple to use. It's working for me. I've lost over 3 stone so far and I've not cut out anything from my diet. I still eat crap and drink wine if I feel like it. As long as I stick to my calorie limit it works.

I want to lose body fat across my chest / under my arms & the top of my back

I've lost 3 stones already and been gymming 5 times a week for 8 months

I can see results everywhere but there

It just won't shift or harden up

Any exercising tips to help it shift or is it lipo time ?

I lost a fair bit of fat and really toned up in the belly area when i was working away for a month.

The only differnce was i was walking nearly 12 miles a day in work instead of about 4.

It doesnt take much to tip the balance of calories in vs calories out if you're already at a stable weight (different matter if you are currently gaining weight).

If you use an elevator daily at work change to the stairs. After a month or two youll really notice a differnce

Sadly there is no way to spot train fat. If youre training that hard though especialy if youve target those areas you may have made things look "worse" by building a heavier layer of muscle under the fat which pushes it out more.

If youve lost 3 stone already youre doing incredible keep it up amd once the other area's are depleted your body will remove it from your target areas.

Otherwise yes lipo will work but youll have to cut down your diet afterwards to account for the new lower BMR or it will come bsck

I’m a PT .

Mindset... are you definitely ready for this?

Set yourself a 12 week challenge.

Make 1 small change every week.

Work out your current daily calorie allowance and create a deficit.

Track your calories.

Try and get more exercise.

Don’t over complicate it or restrict yourself too quickly!

Good luck

I’ve just joined a ladies gym

I’m on a six week course

Have been doing lots of circuit training and weights

Have a really healthy meal, plan and I’m loving it

You can always make time out of your life to join a gym

Luckily I go early so no one in

My personal trainer is lovely but really works me hard

Everyone can do it

Clean and lean diet. No processed food. I tend to not buy anything that has more than 5 ingredients in it.

Exercise, eat less and move more.

Evidence showing benefits of intermittent fasting but not suited for all, ie bowel conditions

You can do little tricks too, youve got unusual problem areas so im not sure what you wpuld have to do though.

Lile to get a "flatter" stomach is a fairly long term goal but a newbie can grow thier chest our fairly fast which cheatingly makes thier stomach seem flatter.

But theres a big differnce in training lazily for aesthetics and training for fitness.

My goal is better fitness & keeping my diabetes levels down to 'pre-diabetes' stage which they are now

I am of the mindset that I can't turn round 47 years of no training and 'living life' in a few months, which some seem to think they can

I'll never have a good body, but I can have a better body, albeit as a by product of better health

I think it is more an individual thing. I find if I say I am on a diet I never stick to it so I just changed what I was eating and stopped grazing in between meals. If I fancied something to eat after 6 I had it, I also did no exercise at all and altogether lost five stone.

One size doesn't fit all

I have had 19 PT sessions last one the 20th tomorrow. I hired him because I had been running for 18 months, I used the couch to 5k app and hit a plateau. I went down 1 dress size from 16 to 14 and couldn't understand why I was going no further and it was getting me down. My PT has told me that cardio helps weight loss up to a point then your body gets used to that excercise and it becomes no better than just eating less.

So i have focused on weights and strength training along with a balanced diet, with treats and alcohol. More protein though because I wanted to build muscle. I am now a size 10 in dresses and 12 in jeans....all in 3 months. I've started running again and I'm faster because I'm stronger. I'm not lighter I've only lost a kg but my shape has changed and I look firmer and smaller. I'm now doing the London marathon this year. I couldn't even run for a bus 2 years ago.

I'd second the small changes your body brain and hormones needs time to adapt go quick fix the chances are you will fail

Approach it as a healthy lifestyle change and not for weight loss specifically, learn to cook most of your food from the basic ingredients, enjoy cooking , batch cook

Learn about health and exercise principles and concepts NOT specific training plans , you are unique and you need to understand you and how you adapt not a generic plan

Drink till you pee a lot x

Find something that works for you and stick to it. It's all very well being 100% clean and go to the gym ten times a week etc (don't do this, I'm just talking about extreme sudden changes), but you won't keep it up. Better to go to the gym once or twice a week (50-100 times or so) than ten times in a week then go fuck this

Thank you for all the replies.

If any more of you out there want to reply please do as it will help me and others alike.

I did ask what worked for you all because no matter what I have tried its hasnt worked or worked but been unsustainable.

With so much information out there, it does get tricky to implement.

Some have said use apps to track macros and even on those apps there are so many contradictory values.

I know to be healthy you need to have an alkaline, more fibre and a more plant based diet, but there is nobody I can ask for how to implement this in the real world, so then im left at the mercy of online blogs and articles which usually seem to offer the same generic advice copied from others.

Some say eat red meat but more lentils, but lentils are seen as a carb yet other say its seen as a protein so the advice is all over the place.

I also tried to contact the 2 members I saw above that state they are PTs (1 was a PT and NT) however they dont allow my sex or age to contact them.

So anyone able to shed more light on this and maybe anyone knows how to calculate your macros without using a fat caliper as I dont have this?

Ill actually ask this in another thread too.

Thanks!

Natural carbs found in fresh food a good foy you, however refund carbs like white bread, pasta rice potatoes not so,

Diets do not work, it’s about changing what you eat and how you combine it ( look out for a book called ( you are what you eat ) very good book, it will describe all about food types and digestion times and foods types that are not compatible with each other.

once your body has digested the food you ha e consumed it can start working in breaking down the excess fat stored in your body.

Good like. It takes commitment dedication and patience but persivier and you will get there in the end,

I'm pretty sure "alkaline" diets are nonsense.

I can't tell you how to eat, but more plants and less processed foods are rarely wrong answers.
