Jesus of course , and to deny he existed is not only ignorant , but blatantly not even remotely close to the truth either .
There is no doubt Jesus was an actual person , and that he he was born and crucified . While I accept that an awful lot of the stories at the time would have been altered over the years , his existence is undeniable .

This is very true. The bit I now have difficulty with is that the birth of Jesus was actually around February or March and not December. The Church took over the pagan winter festival in December and 'rebranded' it for some reason.
I'd like to see the Christian festival rescheduled nearer the real date so it breaks the link with commercialism in December. |

I lost my sister when she was 17. My dad when I was 21 and my mum and stepdad 9 months to the day of each other. I'm very bitter about the church now and I was brought up a Christian. This year has been the hardest yet |

They were both invented to control people. Jesus to control the masses and Santa to scare the kids into being good. Although that doesn't really work as parents still spoil their kids even though they've been little shits. So why have santa now? |

It’s about family and friends and all things Christmassy for me.
I spend it with the people I love doing the things I love. I have had an amazing Christmas. I did go to church, carol service, nativity all those things but it’s all about those I love for me, not the ‘stuff’ on the periphery. It is a wonderful Christmas |

I refuse to say to any child around me that he comes only for good children. What a horrid statement!
Imagine being threatened ( as the church does with heading to hell) that someone won’t love you as much if you’re a bad person. Then when they return to school - some children have got much much more from Santa- and they didn’t.... some little kid then associates it with being bad. Very sad.
Everyone is bad at some point in their lives. We shouldn’t be threatened for these choices. |

As stated above Jesus wasn’t born in December.
However, many other belief systems from Pagan to Norse, Germanic, Roman etc all had a winter festival.
With the birth of Hollywood and mass media we have given them the legends to remake a festival starring the Coca Cola man as this mystical man that brings goodwill and cheer to everyone around the world.
The religious part of Christmas died a long time ago as we have cordoned on to the fact that Everywhere in Western society has an ancient story to tell from this season.
So now we celebrate the consumerism that has been allowed to take over

Christmas was originally a pagan celebration of the new sun. New life and a new begining. This time of year for me is spending time with those I care about, eating far to much food and
a reflection on the year that has just passed as well as looking forward and planning the next chapter in my life. Not so much new years resolutions but more building on what I've already accomplished and what things I want to get better at.

Christmas being a pagan celebration originally is just an old wives tale. Its off by a few days.
The guy who made the modern calendar basically made a balls of it. It should have been 13 months with 28 day on each month. It should have started on winter solstice or another solstice. But he shifted everything off probably to avoid any links with pagan.
Jesus Birthday is exactly 1 week before the new year, Jesus has to be born before the new year, and 1 week celebration was given to him. This puts his birth close to a solstice but not on one, actually 4 days after one, and makes a mess of the whole year. |

I'm sure someone will correct me on this but I believe the santa image is actually trademarked by Coca-Cola. They own it as they invented that image.and it became mainstream due to popularity of the drink.

The solstice has come, and days are getting longer as spring comes.
