In a town Fab forgot

After the way they played against Liverpool I'm not surprised.

They need a proper long term plan now and stick to it to get back to where they were.

In the meantime everyone ahead of them builds and grows.

It's great to have a high world wide business profile to swell the coffers.

But don't forget the actual fucking team.

What's the point of a high profile money making global brand if the team aren't producing?

Woodward might be a good businessman but he doesn't seem to "get" the bit about the blokes who kick the ball......

Mouriniho was a translator for Bobby Robson who clung like shit to a blanket and gradually eased himself in and around football.

He managed Porto when Spanish football was in a trough and got some trophies. Then followed the money at Chelsea and won stuff.

At man Utd it was about business, football, winning and his ego. He wanted to be the next Alex Fergusson but was never up to it, apart from in his own mind.

English football will be better for his absence.

It really rankles me when they say he has lost the dressing room. What about the fans ? What about the shirt the badge ? We currently have a squad of heartless , gutless overpaid divas . The players should feel shamed for the part they have played in our demise . Mourinho has played his part ,, his public slating if players and his own lack of accountability

Personally I think he did the best that he could with the team, they are in complete disarray. They don't play for each other and there's no cohesion at all, the individual star players turn up to the matches when they want.

Whoever takes over is going to have a tough job making them a team.

Harry Redknapp is not a ridiculous idea as interim manager. He is big friends with Alex Ferguson too so may collaborate.

The problem at Man Utd is that all football clubs have a business side to them but at Man Utd it is a business with a football side to it.

If the owners recognised this then they may just 'incidentally' enhance or maintain the business strength and have the football club Alex Ferguson made for them...

Would agree with Harry, old head and a more down to earth manager that the players may respond to..

With Carrick or someone alongside him it could stabilise the sinking ship..

Somewhere In The Ether…

Roy Keane - he’ll whip (probably literally!) the team into shape (and deflate Pogba’s globally threatening ego).

Possibly James Corden also - he’s on everything else on bloody TV right now so might as well go on this to

Manchester (he/him)

I've just been reading some of the comments on the sports pages by previous assistants under SAF. They keep on going on about a manager understanding and fitting in with the 'culture and history' of the club. I think if the culture and history is getting in the way of the manager doing his job then that's a large part of the problem!

He did win trophies yes but this has been Man Utd's worst ever PL season and the football or lack of it they served up has been awful...There was no choice and he had to go...Even my team West Ham beat them!

I’m not a United fan but I always thought Jose would fail at Old Trafford because of his ego. Whichever club you support the United job is one of the biggest in football and Jose’s arrogance seemed to me to suggest that he was bigger than the club. That was never a recipe for success.

Paid to manage and motivate player irrespective of what utter twats they are or how much they are paid. Has singularly failed to get the most out of the talent available so right he has gone. I'm sure the £18m pay out for abject failure will soften the blow. The reward for failure is what is wrong with football.

Well if Pogba stays I think that will be travesty . I can’t stand him . And what Ole did at Cardiff was abysmal . Mike Phelan is ok as an assistant , but not a manager .

Carrick has had six months with Mourinho , and I would be showing him the door too . He’s done fuck all . Stick him in as a coach for the youth team maybe .

I think we would be better off having someone who doesn’t come with a load of baggage , and someone who will work hard on bringing the young players through too . Zidane didn’t do that at Real so I wouldn’t go for him .

Harry Redknapp with an understudy would be a good call I think .

History suggests he's brilliant at man management.

Not sure how he'd cope with Pogba and Sanchez. Probably kick them both in the cunt.

Cockney Red fan here I am little surprised they didn’t wait until the end of the season especially as it seems they are looking for a interim manager.Already a few on this forum have mentioned Harry Rednapp which would be a good appointment as well as Arsene Wenger I believe these two can get the attacking players performaning yes the defending is not great but there is a saying the best form of defence is attack.Long term I think the Tottenham manager is who they will target.

. Yes we will target Pochettino and based on the current state of the clubs from boardroom to playing field he should stay at Tottenham however with Tottenham having a new stadium to pay for If 2-3 of their top players are sold to help with the repayments he may choose to leave Daniel Levy talks about not selling players but we have taken 2 of their best players in the past why not Pochettino , Kane , Erickson , Dele there is a saying money talks.

The ethos and tradition of your club is one of developing the youngsters, if your own idea is to just trawl other clubs with big transfers then you may as well get Mourinho back cos that's what he prefers but the majority of fans don't and neither do people like Fergie and Sir Bobby..

Just a thought..

The difference being, and absolutely no disrespect meant, at the time Poch left Southampton you were selling half your squad from beneath him and showing no signs of ambition - Spurs currently however are doing all they can to sign their best players to new contracts , have a new stadium to look forward to, and a team that is one possibly two players short of stepping up another level. Poch is totally bought into the project and is also a very honourable man.

Of course there's no guarantee his head won't be turned, but it wasn't by a bigger job than Utd (at Real) so I don't see why it necessarily would be now - especially when he has an arguably bigger job based on current form and squad etc.

Yes we didn't sign anyone in the summer and that may or may not be a source of frustration to him, only he can know if it is, but I expect Daniel Levy will (a) refuse any approaches from Utd and (b) make sure he gives Poch what he wants in terms of signings to keep him.

Agreed and I'm a realist, he was always going to leave as was a big career step upwards! My only comment is 'totally bought into the project and is a very honourable man'...is very risky, beware the murky world of football! Anyways, onwards with the relegation battle lol

Oh I know how it goes and if his head is turned and he goes, with a heavy heart I'll wish him well - personally I think he'd be a fool to take it the state United are in currently and given that Fergie's shadow still lurks round any corner at the club when you compare it to a club where he's already stamped his mark and made it his own.
