I like a wide variety of music and go through phases, but Airbourne are the band I've paid to go and see live more than any other, their gigs are exactly what a hard rock show should be and I never miss them when their tour brings them to the UK |

I got arrested once and was asked did I have a police record. No! I replied , but I've got a couple by Sting |

The band who I have seen live most and who I've followed for almost 40 years (with a 6 year gap when they split although they never left my heart even then) is Madness
They're often written off as that band who made the funny videos back in the 80s but there's so much more depth to them than those three minute slices of fun.
They've got me through good times and bad and introduced me to some wonderful people who will be lifelong friends.
There are of course other bands who I love and follow but Madness will always be MY band. |

The Pogues have a special place in my heart
After buying there first album I was totally hooked, Shane McGowan is an amazing song writer/ singer
Had the pleasure of seeing them live twice
Unfortunately everyone thinks he only ever sang a Xmas song, although in my opinion the best of them all |

There's not been one band for me but the band that I listened to most during my formative years was R.E.M, I spent many hours in my late teens listening to them and was lucky enough to see them before Bill Berry left. |

Prince and James spring to mind. First saw Prince in 88, and last saw him in 2014 at one of his Hit’n’Run shows. Don’t think there will ever be another talent and showman quite like him. That James have been putting out mostly consistently great albums since the 80s is incredible. |

Jean Michel Jarre; I first heard him at a ridiculously young age and have loved him ever since.
Still going strong after all these years and a true pioneer in electronic music, influencing so many subsequent artists. |

The Jam, Paul Weller.
Really got me started on my musical journey, which is really varied now but The Jam are what I grew up with. Saw them so many times.
Weller has kept me through good times, bad times, happy and sad times. |

No one particular band or artist, but there's a few that fill up a lot of my disc space.
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band.
Thin Lizzy.
Elvis Costello and the Attractions.
Ian Dury and The Blockheads.
Eric Clapton.

The Stone Roses kicked off my love of music when I was about 12. There's my life and the way I heard music before I heard The Roses and then there's my life after I'd listened to their first album. Though I wouldn't say I'm a super fan or even say they're my favourite musical act, they were however the ones whose music flicked the switch in my brain that showed me that music could be so much more than Top of the Pops and nice tunes to tap your feet to. Ultimately their music started me down the road to listening to all kinds of music, reading all sorts of books and god knows what else that I wouldn't have been open or receptive to otherwise. For that and for more personal reasons they'll always have a very special place in my heart. |

Same here, but I felt let down by them. Classic debut album, followed up by arguably the best song of the ‘80’s, Fools Gold. Hearing that for first time, was the ultimate, it was like finding a brand new colour.
But then a slightly disappointing follow up ‘One Love’. Then they disappeared for 5 years and the momentum was gone. Oasis took there crown and the wind from their sails, when they came back they were slightly passé and the music was retro, not groundbreaking.
But, for a brief moment they were the best band on the planet and they looked cool as fuck.
That debut will always be my favourite album. |

If we’re talking time watching them play music live then I’m gonna have to say Mark Morris and The Bluetones, closely followed by The Wildhearts. I’m running to London on Monday to see the latter.
If we’re talking time listening then it’s Kylie. She’s seen me through the good times and the bad times. I adore that woman. |

James. They have an almost faultless back catalogue (if you forgive the self indulgent Wah wah!) and the last 2 albums have been amongst their best.
If I had to shave my 550 gig music collection down to one single album it would be Laid
If I could have 2 the second would be Grand Prix by teenage Fanclub another album that accompanied me along the path to adulthood. |

Early musical influences in my life that stayed with me up to now are, Marc Bolan (his lyrics were shit, but the music was brill), Pink Floyd, Lynrd Skynyrd, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Frank Zappa.
Over the years since my youth i have also taken on board Sade, Boz Scaggs, Jo Harman, Rummer.................the list is nearly endless.
Strangely enough the band i went to watch the the most in my youth was Led Zep. Even now i regularly go to watch "Fred Zeppelin", a local tribute band. In fact, even Rob Plant shows up to watch them sometimes |

Levellers, Wonder Stuff, Neds atomic dustbin and Carter USM I first saw all of them in 89 or 90 and I've seem all of them (or in carter's case Jim and les' current projects) many many times up until the current day.
The bands I first got into were joy division, the Smiths and the Clash but was too young to see them live but I'm still listening to them regularly |

I was lucky enough to see the Stone Roses in a tiny venue a few months before they went huge (Birmingham irish centre, think it had a capacity of 400) they were so different to any band around at that time and it was obvious they were going to be huge. One of the few bands ever that define an era and a generation. Shame they had to ruin the legacy by reforming |

Yeah, ruined it for me. Then releasing an embarrassment of a song ‘All for one.’
Although ‘Beautiful thing’ was actually quite good. |

Tricky tricky tricky....
If I was really pressed for an answer I would have to go for The Chameleons. Its tragic they didn't make it big like the Stone Roses did. Think they had a rawness that the roses didn't |

I love a lot of bands, but people who know me would say Prince fan.
From 15 til now, his music has got me through a lot. Saw him many times, and never disappointed, always changed his show around on the same tour. There will simply never be anyone else remotely comparable. |
