So what is the problem?

Read a book. Call a friend. Listen to music.

Television is not the only thing to do in the evenings.

Spend this time wisely to hone your skills as a potter. Or maybe build a raft out of matchsticks.

Started being really laggy Saturday night, wouldn’t pause and then would freeze and lose signal. Sunday night at 9pm when I’m a celeb started it froze same yesterday at 9pm now today it won’t turn on at all. My neighbour has sky q and theirs isn’t working either. Other sky plus boxes are working. Don’t know if it’s anything to do with the Netflix app being added. No idea. Tried knocking it off and all the things they said to do over the phone. Won’t work. Watching I’m a celeb on my laptop now on sky go.

Makes me laugh seeing all the clever dicks saying they don’t watch Telly and they don’t miss it , or need it , books are better etc.... Maybe in THEIR opinion that’s the case , but for most of us it’s an integral part of our lives . And there’s nothing wrong with that .

So agree with this. And shock horror, I do also read books and do other things. I like to cuddle up on the sofa in the evening with Ivory and enjoy watching the big bad telly.

Calm down Doris.

Some people love their tv, some people don't.

I've not had one for eight or nine years. Think 99 per cent of the programmes are rubbish.

But that's my personal choice.

It's not a personal slight at the tv watching majority...

Defensive much

Watch it- don't watch it - no bother!

I haven't owned a TV in years but I still watch Netflix and films online etc ..

I can't be doing with reality TV drivel or soaps etc ..

The news depresses me - and I'd rather watch something when I have time than have constant advertising and nonsense on in the background.

I have an aerial I have to move about a bit and balance to get the best picture.

I always get a good reception on QVC. Also the Craft Channel. Never realised I needed a die cutter before now but I do! I really do!

I agree, 100%. Have been TV-free for 11 years now. And same, if I want to watch anything, there is always Netflix, Prime and catch-up TV. But then it's on my terms, when I want to watch it.

I grew up in a house where the TV was always on - my mum liked it as background - even if she wasn't watching it.

The constant depressing news and sports and drivel made me want to scream

One of the things I love about living on my own is that it really is all on my terms

No sports, adverts, drivel or " background noise "

It's never on your terms when you're bombarded with advertising.

So if they can't get an engineer out does that mean they will reduce your bill for the downtime?

I find SkyQ crap, bought a brand new smart TV, got SkyQ and since it's been wired in the telly will click off and on at random, probably a dodgy cable but can't be arsed to check. Only does it when tye Sky box is on.

They’re taking £13.50 off my bill if it’s fixed Wednesday when the engineer comes so that’s to compensate for 9 days without any tv services. What they should do is compensate for the two mini boxes I can’t use either.

"So if they can't get an engineer out does that mean they will reduce your bill for the downtime?

I find SkyQ crap, bought a brand new smart TV, got SkyQ and since it's been wired in the telly will click off and on at random, probably a dodgy cable but can't be arsed to check. Only does it when tye Sky box is on.

They’re taking £13.50 off my bill if it’s fixed Wednesday when the engineer comes so that’s to compensate for 9 days without any tv services. What they should do is compensate for the two mini boxes I can’t use either. "

Cheeky cunts! Hope you told them to shove it up their poopipe :/

My superpower is long distance aerial spotting. Many are called, few are chosen

The longest I been without watching telly was 3 months. I realised had plenty of time to do more productive things.

I really watch TV dvd are my treat when totally bored. I read both books and online and I don't allow visitors unless totally have to my home is my cave it's like the 21st century never arrived. Basic stuff is mod cons no WiFi only data mobile Internet access if required is other places for full information. I have had to buy a sky box puerly for better free channels for my friend that visits other wise still stuck to free view.

I wouldn't worry too much about the delay

Not read the whole thread but if it’s a smart tv, can’t you just get the BBC app, ITV app, Netflix etc and watch directly from there in the mean time?

I bought a brand new tv a few months ago, this morning when I had a cuppa I noticed I’ve not even taken the plastic film off of the screen. I don’t understand people sitting in front of the box every night

Why did you buy a brand new one then?

I had a wall in the flat that was bare, so I bought a tv to fill the gap. I expect I’ll watch it at some point. I am just busy working and doing other things.
