The first handheld mobile phone (there had been mobiles in cars before) was demonstrated by John F. Mitchell and Martin Cooper of Motorola in 1973.
Several disposable cameras were patented long before the 1980s including the Photo-Pac, (which could be had for around $1.50 in 1940s money) was designed to be bought at a store, used, and dropped in a mailbox—after you added the stamp directly on the packaging, of course |

The glorious ZX 81 - the first mass produced home computer from Sinclair.
A staggering 1K of RAM to play with (with a subsequent and much needed 16K external upgrade later introduced).
But seriously, isn’t it truly amazing to see how far computers and related home entertainment technology have come since the aforementioned computer from 1981? |

They used to scare me.....I remember the advert wherein it depicted one of them actually emerging from the ground (in a cabbage).
Stuff of nightmares right there
Do you remember the ‘Garbage Pail Kids’ to? (They were a sort of gross version that existed as collecting cards and even had their own movie to) |

I still use MadTracker sometimes. It runs on my PC in a Workbench emulator : ) I had Bars and Pipes for sequencing, and Cubase 2 on an ST.
Audio software has come a long long way.

Being as reclusive as I am, I watched Balamory to garner an idea and indeed, gain confidence of how best to interact with members of society.
....It turns out that modelling myself and subsequent social persona on Edie MacCready was not such a great idea in hindsight however.... |

"Knight rider, Air Wolf.
Auto Man and Manimal (bonus points for anyone who can recall the latter two series)
Manimal yes,can't recall the other"
Manimal - starring our very own, (the late) Simon MacCorkindale. At school we all used to try to emulate the pulsating hand thing that he did whenever he transmogrified into an animal form (spare a thought as this was before the Internet bear in mind)
Auto Man was a sort of Tron like dude who appeared to solve crime in inimitable, glorious eighties style. He was an externalised computer program as I recall and had the ability to materialise glowing cars etc. Great stuff |
