I’ve just beaten my 8 year old daughter at monopoly. I owned nearly all of the board and she had debts exceeding £1200. She’s in tears. Am I a bad dad?

Liverpool

Made me laugh that. I never used to go easy on my kids with any type of games. My family used to tell me off for it. In my opinion it gave them s good life lesson, things won't always go their way x

Still remember my daughter’s (in their 30’s) trouncing a party of kids on the ferry in a Disney songs quiz. You’d have thought they’d just won mastermind how they acted lol

Monopoly was invented by Elisabeth Magie in an attempt to show up the unfair banking system and capitalism ...the rich get richer and the poor can't compete

If she didn't overturn the board and stomp off you've not taught her well.

Definitely not! She has to learn that you can’t always win!

I thought that was how monopoly was meant to end...

" Am I a bad dad? "

That all depends on the compound interest rate you have set on the debt- along with the terms and timescale to pay it back- as long as its not quite Wonga level you'll get away with it

No. Keep being ruthless till the table goes up in the air. She'll thank you when she's older x

The playing pieces are all the same to; Hammer & Sickles. All properties and money are immediately paid back to the State whereupon it is likely spent on Warheads and chemical nerve agents research.

An extra rule has also been added; Any player rolling anything beneath a six will be immediately escorted from the room whereupon they will subsequently undergo lengthy interrogation and possible torture in order to determine if they have any filthy Capitalist leanings

So you too have played the game. I played game too. I am great leader in game. All players are equal, but leaders are more equal than others.
