Best Boyband Ever
Jump to: Newest in thread
There’s been so many over the years and all I want you to do is name the greatest of them all (this could get heated however...)
For clarification purposes though, when I say ‘Boyband’ I’m implying those of the patented ‘Air-grab’ and ‘crotch grab’ variety (circa 1980’s to the present day) as opposed to the likes of The Beatles etc. who obviously predate the era.
Yes, I’m in fact pointing to the likes of Take Twat, Worst Life and Back Street (cleaner) Boys.
Off you go; Let battle commence!

Would Pat (Sharp) and Mick (Brown) qualify as a Boyband I wonder?
They were bloody terrible but Pat at least held the somewhat dubious honour of boasting the mightiest mullet the world has ever seen at least |

They get a massive points bonus for those hairstyles or sure
It is in fact even fabled in the industry, that even A Flock Of SeaGulls we’re highly envious.... |

the right frame of mind -London |
It's obvious innit -it has to be ACDC -they swing both ways -okay at last count 1 is dead, 1 is senile, 1 is up for murder, 1 is nearly deaf but the remaining one has a real fetish for school uniforms |

Actually, there was a British Boyband from around the mid-late nineties who distinguished themselves from their bopping peers, by making a point of playing their own instruments on stage. All I remember was that the lead singer was blonde and that they weren’t toooo bad and had one or two quite big hits here. Any ideas anyone? |

"Metallica.
All boy band and still going strong. "
Metallica is no boyband! They're a group. Madness also where a group. Boybands are manufactured and just for show. Good looking guys who are thrown together.
If Metallica is classed as boyband how about Judas priest or kiss? |

I Wanna sex you up "
I loved their brightly coloured nineties cut suits to; About two sizes too big and with shoulder pads under the material somewhat akin to this worn in American Football |

Moving on Backstreet Boys though not so impressed with them on Strictly they all got Old!."
It's not surprising that they are now old - they formed over 25 years ago and are all married with kids now! |

There’s many more, once they see it’s safe to come out.
It’s a classic Christmas song.
If it was nearer Christmas I’d post a link.
Never listen to it before or after December, that’s how gremlins began. |

In which case, Slade and Wizard should both qualify on the basis of being all male and having big christmas hits |

Unfortunately they didn’t have choreographed dance routines, beanie hats and baggy jeans though.

Talking which, I remember Boyzones very first TV appearance. It was on a famous Irish TV char show. They didn’t sing a single word but merely danced and performed various groin thrusts and a curious ‘diamond’ like gesture over their crotches with their hands..... it was bloody great stuff |

A lucky man to have seen Lawrence on his travels this year.
"Lawrence of Belgravia" is due to be released properly on DVD this year. I jumped on board the Felt bus with "Something Sends Me To Sleep" 7" and remained on board for everything after that.Still got all my vinyl. I suppose they were a bit niche - but what a niche. I'm gonna go and play "Poem of the River" right now! |

i was in a boy band in the 90's ... we were called The Herb Boys ... we toured the european festival circuit for a couple of years playing dub-reggae versions of spice girls songs .... it was as hilarious as it was surreal |

In my teens, I was mad about the Pet Shop Boys, saw them in concert several times.
In my 20s Take That came along... I'll admit it, I bloody love them.
Been to 5 concerts taking my eldest son once, my youngest twice, one of which PSB where the 'support act' my baby is now a mad fan of them!
Last year watched PSB play at Brighton Pride, 20yrs adter I first saw them there. |

Yes....me!!! "
I quite liked Blue to although felt sorry for Simon Webb who was seemingly only allocated permission to sing various ‘Hmmm’s’, ‘Uh’s’ and ‘Yeah’s’ on any given track.
No wonder he went solo in the end....whereupon he immediately sounded uncannily like the lead singer of The Lighthouse Family. Very odd indeed |

"Bay City Rollers "
They were the original Boy Band. The term was first used for the Bay City Rollers.
They could actually play the instruments though whether they played on their recordings is debatable.
The Monkees would have qualified as the first except that the term was never used for them and they were manufactured to be an American equivalent of the Beatles.

Also, is it just me or did anyone else think that whenever Lee Ryan performed a solo in the group, that he pulled the sort of facial expression normally associated with forcing out a particularly stubborn shit? |
