Yes, 80’s Synth Pop maestro and all around awesome dude!
Yes, this is the thread to post your uplifting stories of how Howard Jones has changed your life.
Perhaps yourself or your partner have experienced spontaneous, immaculate conception whilst listening to his 1983 masterpiece, ‘What is love?’ or else perhaps you had a dramatic spiritual awakening whilst the sheer musical majesty of the same years, ‘New Song’ has played on your radio or CD in the background?
If you have not been fortuitous enough to have been so touched by such common Howard Jones related magical phenomena however, I will permit you to merely list your favourite tracks by this God-like fellow.
Just to clarify folks, this is Howard Jones, the musical genius I’m talking about here. This is not Phil Jones, Manchester Utd and sometimes England International defender who is clearly somewhat less than a genius....

I don't mean to bring hate to your thread but on reflection Howard Jones is like a shit Rick Astley, a poor man's Chesney Hawkes if you like. Sorry OP.

I quite like Howard from Take That as well; I don’t know his second name sadly though so I’ll just call him Howard Barlow Orange Williams (which sounds quite posh)  |

I'm suprised he's not from Bristol. Only yesterday I saw a programme on Bristol, about the years gone by. They dressed like he did in that video.
I imagine he was quite the trend setter back then. |

I think they still dress like that in Bristol today Oh yes though, that famous pineapple inspired hairdo was the in thing back in the day and was only finally upstaged by the boys from Flock Of Seagulls - which only people from Moss Side and similar hard arsed places had the courage and audacity to attempt to imitate. |

Loved his music Hide and Seek 12" version such a great song.
I had Humans Lib the album on tape and would always play it on my Walkman then it got stolen.
He performed at Temple Meads live on Top of the Pops.
His lyrics was not about love but always about the human race.
I wanted to have a hairstyle like his. |

I remember really liking his music as a kid, always one of the very best acts on Top of the Pops, him and the Thompson Twins...but It's been decades since I've listened any of their stuff, don't know how I'd take to it now |

Howard Jones did change my life … and not in a good way. When he made it big, he was managed by the bloke who ran Friars in Aylesbury. This was one of the most renowned smaller venues outside London and ALL the major bands played there, giving the town an identity matched by few others. The manager took his eye off the “Friars ball” when HJ tried to break into the US and the club died, never to be successfully replaced.
When he started out, HJ played a number of gigs in the County Town of Buckinghamshire, always supported by a local RnB band called The Prowlers. They had a good local mod following and we would go to the gigs, watch them play and then leave. This included HJ’s (I think) first ever London gig at The Marquee, when less than 100 people turned up. Even fewer were there to see HJ, as a largish group of Aylesbury Mods descended upon Soho after The Prowlers had played.
In summary, been to 5 HJ gigs, seen him play about 1 song and the Wycombe Wanker ruined my life (sort of, well not really, but kinda). |
