There and to the left a bit |
Off the back of the worst film thread, and also prompted by one I started to watch at the weekend - what films have you seen that others absolutely rave about but just do nothing for you...a few to get you started...
Deadpool - this was the film I started to watch at the weekend and turned off after 30 minutes, just didn't "get" it, didn't find it funny at all - some of the action sequences were ok but that was about it.
Bladerunner - a cult classic for some but did nothing for me
Carlito's Way - critically acclaimed but found it boring and tedious

"Anything with Michael Caine or a fucking "superhero" in it
But he gets to say the most amazing line in film history ever!
"
No that was Robin -"Holy hidden wardrobes batman" -as for the old MC
I don't care -he has only ever done 1 character in 1 accent ever? |

"Grimsby - should have been called Grim - puerile unimaginative humour, the main surprise being an actor as good as Mark Strong being in it!!"
That's one hell of a bad film. Think I'd blocked it out. |

Same here! "
Thank god I'm not the only person. I was expecting getting a good roasting for saying Harry Potter |

"Inception; Sorry, but I I found it entirely pretentious. Christopher Nolan basically ripping off Dreamscape from 1984 whilst basking in the glory of his own ego."
Totally agree with this. And what's that Tom Cruise one, with the "you had me at hello" bit. Rubbish. |

When I saw your thread title I immediately thought "Deadpool". I suffered the whole way through it because everyone raved about it and I thought a hilarious bit was just about to come up. I only smiled once (didn't laugh once) and that was at the end.
Saw Venom last week which is a similar style film - thought it was fantastic. |

Two hours of watching Sandra Bullock floating around in space simply bored me. I don’t understand why it was so hyped!"

I’m so glad I’m not alone in this! My friends are always shocked that I don’t like this film |

"The Deer Hunter, supposedly one of the best war films, but all you get is about 10 minutes of the Vietnam war and a boring drawn out wedding scene "
Your not wrong there, me and my ex used to joke about that fact....three weeks later, they're still at the bloody wedding! |

Bound to be an unpopular opinion now as it goes against universal critical opinion but........Apocalypse Now.
Whilst I didn’t actually hate it as such, I did nonetheless find it to be grossly overrated and entirely overblown.
Then again, aside from The Godfather trilogy, I am not exactly a fan of Francis Ford Coppola in general and find the religious like praise for him, baffling at best and somewhat irritating at worst. |

"Blair witch project your a bit fooked when you give the woman the only map"
The ending confused me in that film; Why was the guy standing, taking a piss against the wall in the house?
.....At least I think he was at any rate |

Fuck me , three of my favourite films are mentioned on this thread .
Apocalypse Now
Green Mile
The Matrix
Each to their own and all that , but these three are absolute classics .
Anything with Owen Wilson or Will Ferrell gets my vote for being the worst film made . |

"Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri "
Thought this film was excellent - but about half an hour short! Too many unanswered questions!
Deadpool 2 - dreadful!
Mission Impossible most recent - dreadful!
Harry Potter - films and books - really?!?! Dreadful too! |

Black Panther.
Its not a bad film but the way all the critics were raving about it i expected to see something amazing ... its nearer the bottom end of the MCU. |

Any of the Mad Max films. I saw ten minutes of the first one in the eighties, and switched it off. I've seen clips of the others (more of the same) and the new one was just a slightly glossier update.
Total fucking garbage. Michael Winner wouldn't have touched them with a bargepole. Yes, they really are that bad. |

"The Green Mile
I agree, didn’t see what all the fuss was about?
How about acting that was simply incomparable?"
Really? The acting in that one film is incomparable to the acting in every other film ever made. Really?????? |

"Latest Bladerunner. Loved the original but this was too arty-farty-trying-to-be-good."
Blade Runner is the best film ever.
Blade Runner 2049 is a masterpiece and very close to it.
Just leave it at that. |

"The greatest showman.
Yawwwwwnnnn
La la land utter tosh.
Mamma Mia. Oh my god I wanted to put my head in a microwave oven after ten minutes."
No need for that. Just put on an Abba album and make a microwave meal. If you want Abba, you cant beat Muriels Wedding. Love that film and not just because of the music. |

"All pre-sequel star wars movies, rubbish all.
You didn’t like Rogue One?"
Stopped watching them, what put me off most was the bizarre obsession if the direct to have people's hand cut off, that and Ewan McGregor's horrific accent!
I understand they are prequels but they're far too contrived! |

I watched it in 3D at the cinema - and visually it was great - but you're right, take the stunning visuals away and it wasn't much cop. |

"I tried to like DeadPool, I really did.
After 20mins I was grinding my teeth and had to turn it off.
Not for me."
As my OP said Deadpool was the film that prompted this thread - had high expectations based on what others had said - lasted 10 minutes longer than you and found myself concentrating more and more on my tablet than watching the film - found it irritating and completely unfunny |
