I bought three 7" as my first purchase:
Thunder in the Mountains by Toyah
Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic by The Police
It's My Party by Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaskin
From K-Two records, upstairs in the Pentagon Centre in Chatham on my way home from school.
(I do retain *useful* information too!) |

There and to the left a bit |
I hate these threads as I shall always be tainted by having to admit to mine being Long Haired Lover From Liverpool and Nice One Cyril when I was about 6 or 7!!
First proper record though was Slap & Tickle by Squeeze |

Jeepster - T.Rex, from a local newsagent that used sell ex-jukebox records for about 6(old)pence, yes a tanner..maybe less, but had the centre cut out so you had to have the proper thing to play it on a normal record player..what are they called? Centres? Either tri spoked or a curvy shape... |

I don’t know what the first ones would have been. My local record shop sold 7” singles for 10p. I used to buy all the ones with nice covers!
The first one I can put a name to is ‘Under The Sea’ by Sebastien T. Crab on cassette. I was 7. Forgive me but I still maintain it’s a great song! |

"Actually buying and remember? Either cliff Richard and the young ones, or morris minor and the motors
Thought it was majors?
Am I thinking about another group?"
Possibly. It was a long time ago, and let's face it, they only had that short running show on the beeb before disappearing |

It was indeed Morris Minor and the Majors, fronted by comedian Tony Hawks
(I didn't buy it) |
