I bought three 7" as my first purchase:

Thunder in the Mountains by Toyah

Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic by The Police

It's My Party by Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaskin

From K-Two records, upstairs in the Pentagon Centre in Chatham on my way home from school.

(I do retain *useful* information too!)

I did have records before this, but it is the first one I remember actually buying. From Volume Records, loved that place on Saturday afternoons.

There and to the left a bit

I hate these threads as I shall always be tainted by having to admit to mine being Long Haired Lover From Liverpool and Nice One Cyril when I was about 6 or 7!!

First proper record though was Slap & Tickle by Squeeze

Jeepster - T.Rex, from a local newsagent that used sell ex-jukebox records for about 6(old)pence, yes a tanner..maybe less, but had the centre cut out so you had to have the proper thing to play it on a normal record player..what are they called? Centres? Either tri spoked or a curvy shape...

Hefty Hideaway

I don’t know what the first ones would have been. My local record shop sold 7” singles for 10p. I used to buy all the ones with nice covers!

The first one I can put a name to is ‘Under The Sea’ by Sebastien T. Crab on cassette. I was 7. Forgive me but I still maintain it’s a great song!

Possibly. It was a long time ago, and let's face it, they only had that short running show on the beeb before disappearing

It was indeed Morris Minor and the Majors, fronted by comedian Tony Hawks
