"Why is it called Indian motorcycles then? "
Good question.
Quick google confirms the following.
The early 1920s were important years in the rise of Indian Motorcycle as several iconic motorcycles were introduced to the public. ... In 1923, the company changed its name from The Hendee Manufacturing Company to The Indian Motocycle Company—no “r” in motocycle when the word was used with the name Indian. |

Yes, they are very good. And everything that is not a Harley Davidson is different to a Harley Davidson...
It all depends on what you want from a bike and how it fits you really. I rode a Victory for a while (same factory) and that was excellent. |

I rode one. But must have been over 10 years ago and I wasn’t impressed.
They’ve improved since then and the company are doing a great job at marketing them. Sales are on the rise and they have quite a following.
I loved The Worlds Fastest Indian too! |

There is if course a problem with expensive things be that cars, bikes, or phones... those who spent the money on them are financially tied to saying how great they are even if flaws exist.
I currently ride Yamaha and Kawasaki. Would love a Triumph but they are built for a different leg length than I have, which puts my knee 1" too high. Would also love a Ducati, but can't be arsed with the maintenance costs. Owned HD and Buell, never again. Had a Victory for a year, loved it would buy another if they were still being made.
Indian, maybe, could suit a long ride... may do some USA miles next year, so will get a good test ride in sometime before, and maybe I would buy one over in Canada (pain in the arse buying in the USA) and ride it about for a few months then ship it over if I like it. |

It was Burt Munro in "The fastest Indian". The name is a tribute to native Americans. |

"Get yerself a Moto Guzzi, they're only held together with 13mm bolts and circlips "
They have improved the Moto Guzzi models, some of the 13mm bolts have nuts on them now, unfortunately they only had 14mm nuts so they used the chewing gum to pack out the gaps before using the wrappers to make circlips for other 13mm bolts |
