"I just saw this on Sky News.
I loved Smokey and the Bandit as a kid "
Us too! Deliverance and Boogie Nights are great films!
I should imagine he had a fun filled life |

Read his book "Enough about me" it was a fascinating read full of funny stories and truths about fellow actors. He was at a party at Marlon Brando's who took a dislike to him and had a go about his acting, Burt hit straight back saying at least he wasn't fat. Shame he's gone he did live life though and posed naked for a mag in the early 70s. |

Ahhhhh dear
I remember him for more obscure roles such as the team boss in Sylvester Stallone's Driven, the Dollond & Aitchison advert (did they close down? I never see those shops anymore), and even in an X Files episode near the very end of it's original run (he was heavily implied to be God!) |

Sad the bandit is gone, just been on the radio about him and the roles he turned down...he was asked to be 007,he said that the public wouldn't go for a American playing Bond. He later on admitted it was a mistake tuning it down. |

He will be missed .
Loved his films , and remember seeing him on Fast and Loud with Richard Rawlings trying to get him to sign a trans am he had built for a client . He looked old and frail and that was last year . But he signed the glove box , a lovely gesture .
