"I have yet to watch a film that follows the book to a tee. The argument that Bond needs to be white because that is how he is wrote is a weak one at best."
not weak at all, they might not follow the book totally but the character at least needs to have some resemblance to what was written, have a black guy play 006 and have his own film no problem |

Was he not written as a specifically English man? He has been quite successfully portrayed by a Scot,an Irish man,maybe not so well by an Australian and,my favourite,a Welshman.
If national origin is not necessarily a barrier,then why should skin or eye colour be one? |

Many character's have been changed from how they were originally written. I personally think he would play the part very well, everyone is more interested in the fact he is black rather then the fact he is a genuinely good actor that desearve's the chance and will bring something new to the film's. |

I hadn't read that he won't play the part. I agree there, whoever does get hired should be based on their acting ability rather than the colour of their skin or the fact that the producer's think that they need to have a black Jame's Bond |

He said he thinks he is too old to play him. So even he is saying there is a thing that james bond has to be and his age is not right.

The original Reacher books by Lee Childs have him as a 6ft something, huge build, man mountain Nothing like Tom Cruise. All the original Jason Bourne books are nothing like the films with Matt Damon. I personally think it doesn't matter, I think the best person should get the part but in today's society it seems to be who ticks all the relevant pc box's, regardless of whether they're suitable or not.
All I ask is that they don't pick someone similar to Roger Moore, he was my worst bond of everyone who's played the part. I just can't stand the guy. |

No... I don't find him a good Bond is why... Did Ian Fleming choose any of the actors at any point? You say he is blue eyed and English yet that possibly makes DC the only one that should've been playing him, out of all the previous actors. Also, the books were Flemings vision, whoever made the first films owned the vision for the films, that often only cherry pick specific details from the books for their own vision. The vision now belongs to the franchise, surely? If it was still Flemings vision it would still be set in the last century, without all the cars n tech from today... And we wouldn't have had a female M either, surely?!? I think it has been changing gradually since it first started. |

The James Bonds have moved with the times just because he was a blue eyed steely killer in the 60’s does not mean he has to be that today.
The films tend to reflect (loosely) the issues we face today so I have no issue with a James Bond reflecting the make up of the intelligence community we have today either.
Let Boyega have the job in a couple of years. Hopefully the stink of the new Star Wars films will have gone by then. |

What if the character in marvels black panther changed to a white actor? If a character is portrayed in its origin in my opinion it should stay that way. I don't agree in changing bond as much as I wouldn't agree with changing shaft to a white actor! Some roles are what they are. Have to have a sky blue pink hulk soon. |

It is just a fictional character, if Idris turns out to be a crap Bond then he'll be out and everyone that hated the idea of him doing it in the first place can have a good ole giggle at how you were right.
