I think people will wonder why others feel the need to say they are leaving , rather than just quietly go .
Yes , we are all attention seekers by being on here in the first place , but that one last hurrah when it’s announced on a thread that someone has chosen to leave always attracts the disdain of the forum .
If you are leaving because you’ve realized it isn’t for you , and all is good in your world , great .
If not and you were hoping people would beg you to stay , sorry it didn’t work out that way for you .

And why say going then when people say bye get huffy or ask have you upset people that’s kinda attention seeking

No they do it to everyone. The types that would shout at someone to jump from a bridge and kill themselves. Don't take it personally.

I was thinking the same thing. I must remember not to say goodbye to those I’ve interacted with on the forum for the last five years when I go. |

Hi all.
I never ever leave posts on the forum but i am friends with the ops.
Was chatting to the guy last night.
People, they have a genuine reason for leaving. He told me that while he appreciated the goodbyes from the well wishers, his wife was actually crying when sgd read the thread.
I'm sure it's not because she is taking anything anyone on a web forum says to heart rather the emotion of her situation but still, sometimes a little bit of compassion goes a long way.
A lot of people are very harsh. |

It all depends who you are, if you’re Forum famous or part of the clique you can stretch it out by saying you’re leaving in a week to gushing acclaim (then rejoin the day after you do actually UNLOS).
If you’re not, you’re told to fuck off!
I did post a thread when I UNLOSed over a year ago, but the second I posted it, I went straight to the delete account section and left.
If the OP ever gets to read this in future, I wish you all the best fkrcthe future!

Definitely. No need for it, and to hear it made the OP cry is appalling. Those who have made sarcastic and bitchy comments should be ashamed of themselves. I thought this was an adult swingers site not a bloody playground. Some have some on here have some serious growing up to do. |

IF that is true then you don't post in a attention seeking look at me way. You post and say "bye, we are having to leave due to personal issues, hope everybody has fun, etc"
Or you go for maximum Facebook style attention and post a "Oh no I'm in hospital again", type post with no explanation in the hope that everybody rushes around checking you're OK.
One results in good wishes, etc/ one results in get over yourself style responses. Really not hard to understand. Particularly funny seeing some of the do gooder posts from the main forum wolf pack, hahaha |

You can't win really. You either post a goodbye and it's attention seeking or you leave without a goodbye and everyone wonders why you just went and class it as rude to not say goodbye.
I'll always say goodbye if I'm off for a while. I look at it like I would if I was leaving a room full of people I know.
People don't have to comment on their thread if they don't know/like that person but I guess some feel the need to put the boot in before they do go.
