Hotel Chocolat.
The Thorntons recipe has definitely changed in the last few years and is both weirdly tasteless and oily. The texture is horrid too. It'd be a chocolate of last resort for me, which is saying something.
Hotel Chocolat has far more choice, and is almost the only brand which still has loads of my favourite fruity varieties. Plus, it actually tastes of something which always helps! |

It's because Thorntons literally is oily- they use vegetable oil rather than cocoa butter.
Hotel Chocolat has gone drastically downhill since it went on a massive expansion drive and brought all of its chocolates in house rather than buying them from independent European chocolatiers, but it's still probably the best quality widely available high street chocolate there is |
