Who else like to exercise and what do you do? I go the gym 3 times a week doing a full body workout, it is the perfect routine as it takes into consideration the protein synthesis recovery time and the body part frequency ![](/icons/s/2/cute.gif) |

"I’d love to see that workout plan. " Yes, it is very easy, it is 12 exercises with 2 excersices per body part, so for example back is deadlift and lat pulldowns, you have then a A and B workout to rotate with so the next day you select a dofferent excersise so instead for lat pulldowns you do bent over rows, whats your favourite gym thing to do?

I swim, use a static bike and a combination of yoga and pilates at home the rest of the time I use my body to walk about and do other stuff.
I don't get involved in the serious stuff, just do what's needed to keep fit and flexible.
I notice very quickly if for some reason I've had to be sedentary. Mr N even more, he has arthritis and needs to keep moving. |

I would love to have the motivation to exercise more.. |

I am a bit of a lazy fucker and if I could have someone standing over me with a whip barking orders then maybe a gym would work.
So I just ride my bike whenever I can and do aerial once a week oh and yoga occasionally these days |

That sort of depends what you're trying to achieve and how long you've been exercising for. If you're muscle building each body part 3 times a week is possibly too much, if you're more fitness training using weights it's probably OK, but you will plateau very quickly on that if you're trying to bulk. |

I dislike exercise.
I damaged my sciatic nerve by doing a Billy Blanks Tae Bo DVD back in 2005.
I then redamaged it by getting off a Gym Rowing Machine at a funny angle.
I now have a very weak back.
So now my exercise consists of walking the dogs, taking my kids out for walks in our local nature reserves and forest walks and it’s great for me mentally too. I find it calming.

I see a personal trainer. I could do it on my own, but I'm recovering from a serious injury (he has additional related qualifications). Leaving to one side the rehab stuff he helps me with, what I do is mostly resistance based, with some sprint type CV stuff. |

In my opinion the average person just needs to be active. The reason we swim and I do yoga and pilates is because static bike and walking don't use my upper body. I'm very aware that flexibility and balance are extremely important the older one gets. |

Don't go to the gym anymore. Well thr occasional zumba class but I need variety so I run, do Gillian workouts, go to dance classes... that sort of thing. I miss the treadmill for interval training. |

I run 3 or 4 times a week and complete numerous half and a few full marathons each year.
I also go to the gym once or twice a week even though I don't overly enjoy it because a lifetime of cycling preceeding me getting in to running has left me with a quite unbalanced body, so I do sone fairly generic upper body weight and core exercises to try and keep my body in line.
Oh and I walk a lot and still rode a bike a bit but I class that as normal and being active rather than exercising

We’ve got a bit of a soft spot for the les mills workouts at the gym, working to the music beat really helps, the instructor telling us what to do and with others in the class helps to motivate!
Find gym work quite boring and difficult to keep motivated with the old 3 sets of 10 reps! |

In recent months my circumstances have changed somewhat and I'm now spending more time exercising. Three evenings a week playing an hour of intense football with some extremely fit and fast players. And either a full 90 minute match on the weekend or getting to the sea for some surf.
I'm not exactly eating the right foods, but I'm feeling the fitness improvement for sure. I've been asked along to Parkrun by some friends so I may give that a go too. |

I really want to get back into weights. Haven't done any since pregnancy, so 4 years now. (severe spd and all day sickness put an end to working out)
I miss my little muscles I had and being slimmer. Getting harder to restart again though each time. |

I'm more than a bit tempted Dude. I know a fair few that do it. They are super competitive though. Any kind of distance running is so different to the high intensity stop start stuff I'm used to. I might do a couple practice runs on the evenings I don't play ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

Give me a beach open country my dogs and even sometimes rain... not sure if that qualifies as exercise or just pleasure |

Honestly you should do it, I can enthuse about parkrun for hours, it is so much more than a 5km run although when i started it was just a 5km rum for me. But it is so many different things to so many different types of people. |

At the gym now. I have been having spells of going to the gym for a good 5 years now and still have literally no idea what to do. I can't stretch my body at all so exercising is always that much worse.
Got to the point where I am weighing 255lbs at 5'8" and 25 years old. How do you even combat that? No idea. |

Is there no instructors there, a good gym there should be someone there who will help you build a routine that you can do and help you build more sets and harder levels into it. X |

They are almost never there. The lads are always helping out the sexy young ladies with leggings so tight you can see up into their colon and they mostly spend their time in the weights area whereas I'm with the cardio and resistance machines.
I never want to bother them and say "excuse me I can't exercise like a normal human being, help". Lol |

Since starting back at gym 6 weeks ago I normally do the following
40 mins cardio: split between 35 mins treadmill and bike, (20 & 15 mins), 5 mins rowing machine
20 crunches with 3kg weight
2* ( 30 * reps of 3kg in each hand)
Not to bad - looking better since I started ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

You should ask, they are there to do a job. Do they have times you could book a review of your routine for. That would be good as you could let them know what you want to target and your restrictions. Plus if you have health limits then they have a duty to make sure you’re doing the correct exercises and not causing yourself more harm x |

I hate exercise, but not doing any has made me so bloody fat (along with all the wine and pizza!) so I’m back to exercising and eating better.
I’m currently doing hiit everyday for 30 minuets. It means I can fit it in around work and the kids, I really don’t have time to go to the gym.
I used to run a lot too, and I did Cardiff half last year, but no time for that now either

"Exercise is genuinely fucking awful and people who enjoy it freak me out a bit."
Got back on my turbo trainer for the first time since May yesterday.
It was horrible, way too warm, my HR hit 191bpm & I sweated myself to a husk doing a virtual climb up the Gotthard Pass in Switzerland.
Not using the damn thing again til it's freezing, going out on the bike even if it's torrential rain! |

I did have a momentary bout of fitness a couple of years ago but it didn’t last long and everyone said I looked ill! Generally the mere thought of exercising makes me (Mrs) feel physically sick lol
I am in awe of people who are disciplined to exercise regularly though. Wish I could be inspired but I’d rather go out for dinner.. lol |

I'd love to do a gym course but I have physical limitations:
I've bad Osteoarthritis in both knees so can only walk (with a stick).
That same condition in both hands but not so severe.
Can't do weights due to medical advice (long story!).
Last Gym I was at wanted me to do weights and go on running machine! Would not listen to my medical limits but couldn't accept options I could do.
I gave up trying to argue with them! |

We both discovered Triathlon this year and have to confess it is ridiculously addictive. So much so that play time has been significantly reduced. As the Tri season is coming to a close the football season is beginning, different exercise for Mr. Will both continue parkrun and swimming through the winter. |

I run mainly at the moment, I’m in training for a marathon so all my energy is going that way. I’m noticing a huge difference in my upper body as I’m losing muscle mass to feed the calories I’m burning. I’m kind of looking forward to finishing this cycle so I can get back to strength training |

im in the gym pretty much 7 days a week right now! ive got a home gym as well as a gym membership. i only go to the gym to train legs though, the rest i do at home. i train so often because i'll only do one exercise per body part each time, but i'll hammer it! i train each body part multiple times a week, with back getting hit the most at 4 times a week, just different exercises each time. its kinda brutal but its made me strong |
