If you're going to proclaim your superior intelligence and attraction to others like you on your profile then make sure your shit is in a sock and that your spelling reflects your IQ at the very least. Pretentious fucks. |

if you don't like what you see OP just move on to someone who doesn't claim to be a sapiophile, then maybe you can let the bad spelling slide.... or maybe not |

"Does a sapiophile have to be intelligent, or just attracted to intelligence?"
Good question, also is it a relative increment of intelligence differential that causes the attraction? |

"CONCLUSION: Saphophiles are as thick as shit?"
Um, nobody said anything about Saphophiles? Whoever they might be. The OP was talking about Sapiophiles. Who can in fact be of any intelligence level at all. There might be some correlation between being intelligent and being attracted to intelligence, but then correlation does not imply causation, as we all know...
And in fact without having checked any statistics about IQ levels of Sapiophiles, I would not personally make any claims of correlation or anti-correlation... |

There is no special requirement for correct spelling in order to score highly in an IQ test. Mensa in fact use several different methods of IQ testing, at least one of which requires no knowledge of the English language (the Culture Fair test). |

There’s a guy who comes in my work and one of the girls came up to me and god love her she said “the man over there is disabled and may need gelp”. I looked and laughed. Then later I said “ that guy is the head nuclear scientists of the plant behind us”. He is the most fascinating and intelligent man I know ! |

I've come to the conclusion that when a woman says she's sapiosexual it basically means she's turned on by a guy who...
1) engages with her as a person
2) opens his mouth for more than just to lick, suck and kiss
3) at times using it to say something that's worth listening to
It's a bit sad but those three things apparently need stipulating as the price of admission and don't just come by default. But there you go. That's Fab for you |

""People who boast about their IQ are losers" - Stephen Hawking."
i did an iq test and during it i realised its not an accurate way to measure intelligence and they say its impossible to cheat... i can assure you it is possible. Anyways I got 129 but the first section wasnt explained properley so I missed out on a few marks. Also they dont penalise for guessing and encourage you to guess if you are not sure which I thought was daft. |

Despite the backlash (from some) I kind of know where the OP is coming from!
Whilst I agree that a sapiophile is attracted to intelligence (and not necessarily proclaiming to be intelligent themselves) many on here do claim openly to be intelligent.
My experience, not just in here but in life in general, is that those who regularly and vociferously self-proclaim themselves to be intelligent are usually not as smart as they think they are, often contradicting themselves and unable to see the holes in their arguments.
I tend the find the truly intelligent don’t feel the need boast about it or tell everyone how clever they are! |

Without spelling mistakes this time... wrong thread to get an autocorrect in lol [sic]
We all like to give ourselves associative genres and names, sapiophile or a sapiosexual being one. Others - sociopath, nymphomaniac, sycophant and psychopath. I am all of the above and none of the former.
‘Tickle my mind and my body will follow’ - I like this sentiment more than the label of sapiosexual. (This isn’t my motto (someone else stole that!) so i’ll plagiarise this one instead.
But having been cheared up by this thread my new motto is ‘life? It could be worse you could have shit in your sock’ |

I don't entirely disagree but on what is effectively a bio designed to help meet like minded people that you want to fuck I can see why people do proclaim it onow here. It's like claiming to be a professional, people get comoletely bent out of shape about that word too. They're just adjectives. |

I had one amusing experience of a black lady who sent me a friend request. Usually I go through the profile but I tend to ignore the requests and not message them coz my criteria is quite clear. Anyway, her profile had terrible spellings and grammar. To add insult to injury, it was that once in a blue moon when I actually sent her a message to express my disappointment that she disregarded my request and sent one. Her reaction was straight from the bowels of stupidness. Pretty girl but she had to be blocked. |

"I wonder what kind of sock it is... and if it also signifies a class issue "
I suppose it depends for what purpose one has shat in their sock and, what they intend to do with the shit at a later date! A wool or cotton sock would act as a good method to strain and dry, whereas a varukka sock would keep it moist and fresh. You can probably assertain the class of a person by where said socks were purchased but, one cannot always be sure. Some upper class people love a bargain and are probably more than happy to shit in a sock from Primark. There are also plenty of lower class people with pretentions of grandeur that, would go out of their way to display their shit in a sock bought at Waitrose. I would worry about people that have such pretentions, they may find at some point in the future, they can't afford the pot to piss in! I don't think this is by any means a infallible way to test how classy a person is. You are probably better off rummaging through their food cupboards when they aren't watching, then you see what ingredients went into making the shit!

I know this is a sex website but to me those three points are quite important.
We all have our preferences. Some people may be just after some one-off sex meets with as many different people as possible, others may be looking for a regular friend with benefits or the like. We are all different and want different things and, as long as we treat everybody with respect, it should be fine.
Regarding text speak, I do not think it has a direct link to any particular level of intelligence or lack of. Personally, receiving a message laden with it somehow puts me off that person. I am just being honest here. That said I often use “lol” so go figure.
Finally, about that sock... Is it made of polyester, cotton, Merino wool...? |

"I dont understand why people need to go on about how intelligent they are
I can work out for myself if i think someones intelligent
You do realise that the ‘sapio’ word is about being attracted to intelligence and not saying that oneself is intelligent. But isn't the very use of the word an indication a high level of intelligence. I'm no Einstein but I'm reasonably bright and had to look up the meaning of the word.
Nah, it's just one of those words that people like to use to show they're a cut above the rest of us shallow types who go for hot bodies "
Such a joker Mr, I know your game. |

"Despite the backlash (from some) I kind of know where the OP is coming from!
It's those 'boasters' that I called out here. The 'some' who honestly believe they are intellectually superior to everyone else on Fab. Unsurprisingly, some are responsible for the 'backlash' "
In fairness everytime I venture in to the forums I'm reminded that I am intellectually superior to many on here... |

Op, I believe the term to be ‘Get your shit in ONE sock’, I.E. To put one’s affairs in order. Whereas ‘shit in A sock’ is the precursor to a game of ‘freckles’ (urban dictionary, not over breakfast...)
I’ll get back in my box now. |

Couldn’t get ‘busy’ just because someone is smart.... unless they put a bag over their head - oops "

"A sapiophile is defined as one who is attracted to intelligence. This does not mean they are intelligent themselves.
Just thought i'd mention that."
I’ve already said it twice myself. It’s just not sinking in for many. |

Is it though? As a neologism of the words sapio and phile does it not describe one who is attracted to good taste (sapio) rather than intelligence (sapien)? |

""People who boast about their IQ are losers" - Stephen Hawking.
i did an iq test and during it i realised its not an accurate way to measure intelligence and they say its impossible to cheat... i can assure you it is possible. Anyways I got 129 but the first section wasnt explained properley so I missed out on a few marks. Also they dont penalise for guessing and encourage you to guess if you are not sure which I thought was daft."
I did the mensa postal test and reckoned it's an upselling scam where they qualify you to pay for the in-house test. A bit like those Nigerian lottery emails!
The results were 15 points above any other test I'd ever done and they were all with 5 points of each other.
Either way intelligence is no substitute for wisdom. |

"are spelling and IQ connected?"
My very first observation. To that I respond nope. There is little corrolation imo. One can be attracted too it without being able to engage too much and be a Sapiosexual and one can have and hold intelligent conversation and find spelling hard.
Those who have trouble with others whatever the reason should sometimes look at themselves and reflect why the other bothers them so. Can be a personal eye opener maybe even life changing. |

Isn't sapien conjugated from sapio? |

Sapio comes from the Latin root sapiens meaning wise/intelligent. |

"Either way intelligence is no substitute for wisdom."
Indeed and the root Sapien/Sapient/Sapio highlights this - "to be decerning, wise and judicious" rather than just a reference to a level of intelligence. There are alot of very intelligent people who lack wisdom and I doubt a sapiophile would find them attractive.
What I love about the word is the absence of sexual or gender preference, recognising that attraction can exist between two minds. How wonderful! |
