A simple, quick question now; On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your confidence ‘In the real world’ as it were?
I realise that this could be construed as somewhat ambiguous as it is perfectly feasible to be confident in some areas of one’s life, such as being confident in ones own abilities in ones job description for instance, yet simultaneously suffering shyness and lack of confidence in a social context.
With this in mind, the rating I’m specifically being nosey about is precisely the latter variable i.e your self perceived level of social confidence.

My jobs have taken me onto American and British military bases where I've held my own against men with shiny medals on their chest and guns at their hips.
I've taught in inner city colleges where threat of violence were just that threats because I could hold my own.
I've negotiated with mps, CEOs...all levels confident in my skills and expertise.
I've addressed conferences and seminars...all in a day's work.
Put me behind the wheel of a car and I hyperventilate, I go hot and cold and panic. I've turned down jobs because a company car was provided. Once I turn on the ignition I'm fine but I panic and lose confidence every time...I rely on public transport now. |

It's one of the things I find really interesting on here. I'm just on here for a laugh / browse and it doesn't mean anything to me in real terms...
However to some it's clearly a major part of their lives and consequently a major part of their self.
I would guess a large minority of people on here have low self esteem and confidence and use this site as an attempt to boost both but would never "meet" anyone or see it through.
It's easy to blag confidence on the www but it's also easy to see right through it given the right training...
For the record socially I'm 10/10 and sexually 8/10 |

I’m about an 8 in 1-2-1 situations and about a 4 in some social situations, I really can’t do small talk so unless I know you well or we have just met and have a lot to talk about I can be quiet, I’m an introverted extrovert |

I don’t think having low self esteem or lack of confidence means that people don’t meet necessarily. |

8/10. I don’t shy away from much and can be a bit too forward. Hopefully this doesn’t come across too douchebaggy when I do it though. Overconfidence can come across as pushy and I know that is personally a turn off so I’d hate to think I do the same. |

I’d say I’m about a 6 and my wife the same .
That’s cool though , there’s nothing worse than overconfident people who usually are arrogant and pompous with it .
We were both about a 3 before we started swinging though , it helped us loads to gain confidence . |

I think it requires a balance, there are things I am more confident about than others. I'd place myself as a 5 and would hope I never slip into intolerance and pomposity as over confidence irritates me |

It all depends on the circumstances, as a person I’m not very confident in some things, how I look or mixing with strangers. But in what I do I’m very confident, so it’s up and down x |

Work 9
With friends 9 to 10
Socially with strangers 5 to 6 (not good at small talk either)
Fab World 5
Fab Parties/Events 2 to 3 (nervous wreck)
The term 'introverted extrovert' is spot on in my case. |
