What helps you clear your mind

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

So today I remembered bruce lee's words of wisdom

"Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend"

This helps me whenever I feel like my emotions weigh me down. The above quote helps me to relax as well as classical music (piano)

What helps you clear your mind?

...Up on the Downs

Swimming and mucking out. When my body is occupied by such a physical task that does not require my mind I do all my best thinking, and get all my clearest insights.

Do not concentrate on the finger or you will miss all of the heavenly glory!’

Somewhere on the M62 between 24 and 14

Alighting my head on a pillow quickly taken from a fridge.

Or singing an array of Sammy Davis Jnr tunes in the shower.

Being a male, I’m quite lucky that my brain only lets one thing occupy it at a time. So clearing my mind is quite easy.

Thinking about boobs helps also.

Slough Windsor ish

Going for a stomp. Not a normal walk, a proper stompy walk. I tend to go to Runnymede to do it, park at the Pleasure Gardens, cross the road and stomp across the meadow to the Magna Carts site, then stomp on up Cooper's Hawk woodland steps to the top, walk round to the RAF Memorial and sit amidst the cloisters or up on the viewing platform on the roof and breath. I usually require oxygen by that point but my head is completely clear and sorted.

Because of how my mind works. (over thinks everything and over works itself) due to being an introvert.

I usually meditate, listen to music or introspect. Introspect is my last port of call as it is quite mentally demanding. I have tried reading and distracting my self with other stuff but it only works short term rather than sorting the issues out.

What is introspect? It still sounds like over thinking.

Meditation. Going for a run or to the gym is also good. The added spin off is it releases endorphins into your system too.

I go for a long run, focussing on my breathing, pacing and putting one foot in front of the other clears my mind of any extraneous thoughts and presses the reset on my emotions.

Is breaking down your thoughts and and disecting them to come to a conclusion as to why you have those thoughts. Its pretty much examining a thought and emotion process..

For example if you feel angry or annoyed disect that feeling to find out while you feel that. Because sometime the reason you think your annoyed isnt really the real reason at all.. The mind is a great trickster.

There and to the left a bit

A long walk on my own usually does the trick - allows me time and space to analyse my thoughts/emotions and compartmentalise them and decide how best to deal with them
