34/44 degrees on the weekend

Don’t forget sun cream if you’re out in the sun everyone. I know two people already who in the last three years have contracted skin cancer. Thankfully, both are now ok but defence against the harm is best in the first place. |

The air con isn’t working in the retail outlet where I work. We’re under glaring lights and nowhere near any doors, windows etc! Today we were just about ready to collapse. Sadly there’s no legal maximum temperature at which you can reasonably be expected to continue working - I checked! |

I was reading up about that to!
We dont have air con where I work...If lots of people complain that it's too hot the manager has to do a risk assessment and do everything they can to make it comfortable re uniforms etc. I mean they're not exactly going to close the shop but they can get you an ice lolly and allow you extra breaks etc. He should really be getting that air conditioning sorted out to.
I wore shorts to work today. I told them my uniform trousers were too hot in this weather ~ he didn't mind at all!!! |

On a serious note yes that is a bugger. There us a legal minimum temp but not a maximum one.
If you are allowed to take bottles of water in try freezing a couple overnight and taking in, at least they'll stay cold for most of the day for you |

I worked in a plastic moulding factory and it was reaching 40degrees. I asked the supervisor for a fan and she told me "you'll have to find your own"
A few of us went to HR and complained. Next day, the factory floor was littered with fans and a freezer was bought and filled with ice pops.
I think 30degrees is the maximum you can work in until a risk assessment has to be carried |

"Where are those temps going to be?
Greater Toronto area and southern Ontario "
Last time I was in Toronto it was minus 12 and I thought my brain was going to freeze and drop out of my ear.
Gimme this weather any day! |

I saw a post from an army vet today, he said, your complaining it's too hot?
Are you wearing a full uniform, is it 120 degrees ? Are you 6000 miles from your family? Are you carrying a 70lb pack? Do you have a small chance of being shot or blown up?
Well said I think, so stop the moaning unless your serving in Afghanistan! |

Really! Wtf??? Christ I posted that to show how tough other people have it while we moan about it being too hot as we drink champers in the garden!
But you don't even recognise the massive effort and loss of ww2 where it's readily agreed if our guys and girls didn't fight and lots died to stop us being under German rule and no freedom of speach.

No but it is up to your employer to make sure your working conditions are safe! It's no joke what you are saying. Your employer should provide fans and plenty of water!!

I worked in a plastic moulding factory and it was reaching 40degrees. I asked the supervisor for a fan and she told me "you'll have to find your own"
A few of us went to HR and complained. Next day, the factory floor was littered with fans and a freezer was bought and filled with ice pops.
I think 30degrees is the maximum you can work in until a risk assessment has to be carried"

The air con isn’t working in the retail outlet where I work. We’re under glaring lights and nowhere near any doors, windows etc! Today we were just about ready to collapse. Sadly there’s no legal maximum temperature at which you can reasonably be expected to continue working - I checked!
No but it is up to your employer to make sure your working conditions are safe! It's no joke what you are saying. Your employer should provide fans and plenty of water!!
Mrs x"
We’re allowed to take water down - but told not to drink in front of customers. It’s very busy - so we rarely get a chance to have a drink! They have no fans and we can’t sit down. Yesterday I was told off for placing a bottle of cold water on the back of my neck to cool my cote temperature and hence avoid feinting! Apparently it looks unsightly do they’d prefer me to just go ahead and feint - politely and quietly! |

Do you have a union? Have the bosses indicated when the a/c will be fixed? |

"Army people chose that as their profession.
Chefs work in hit places for a living, etc.
We aren't used to this much warm weather in a lump.... "
It's only 88 degrees tops, next you will tell me that firefighters want to be in 200 degrees. Feck take a man up pill. |
