What National Anthem do you think is the most passionately sung and sets the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end at sporting events? For me its the Welsh singing Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau closely followed by the Scots with Flower of Scotland |

I’m very much enjoying the World Cup at the moment.
.....Not least of all at the start of each match wherein one can derive much amusement from seeing that half the squad members on each team clearly don’t know the words to their own anthems |

"(Mind you.....thinking about it, I don’t know ours so perhaps I shouldn’t be laughing so hard) " Must admit I don't know all the words to the whole of God Save The Queen |

Anyone remember the Irish anthems at Croke Park the first time they played England in the six nations a few years ago? That was the most passionately sang anthem ever in my opinion but I'm biased haha |

Flower of Scotland, sung at Murrayfield, when the band stops and the crowd keeps singing, is quite a feeling.
Unfortunately, these days, I choke on the line, “But we can still rise now, and be a nation again.” Empty words.
For passion, though, you surely don’t get much better than the, “Ireland, IRELAND!” of Ireland’s Call. |
