With Gareth Southgate, the most powerful man in Britain right now, rocking a waistcoat as he represents our great nation with all the eyes of the world upon him; is he doing it well or looking like a dork? |

Last time I bought a suit it was an extremely dapper 3-piece suit. |

My LTP has to wear a 3 piece suit for work sometimes.
When he came to see me on his way to work wearing one I think my heart stopped as I opened the door to him, looking immaculately groomed. |

Is his name Gareth by any chance? |

I like a man in a waistcoat. I like the trousers, waistcoat and jacket combo. Add in a pocket hanky and i’m well away. Preferably in a navy blue with a pale white stripe.
It has to be tight fitting.

"A man in a waistcoat can have me weak at the knees just at the sight of him, but not all men can carry if off right. Those who can though....phwoar."
Do you think Gareth Southgate is pulling it off? |

That just about covers the same for a flat cap to a pair of wooly sock and all apparel in between doesn't it? |

I often wear a waistcoat when I go to a formal dance event.
Note; a waistcoat, not a nodad. |

"Is this what equality means, instead of evaluating women on their performance we evaluate men on what they are wearing?
He looks like a total dork with a giraffe neck and shoulder pads."
Give it two weeks and he'll be delighted we're talking about what a dork he looks like, instead of his performance |

He'll probably get a major hairstyle change the day after they get knocked out and get journalists to write stories about it |

He can wear what he likes. He looks smart and obviously is smart. Are you Jealous or something. Leave the guy alone and praise his management style. Would you be asking that question if it was a woman manager and if so what has it to do with you. |

I find women in powerful positions have their clothing commented on more in the media. When Theresa May first stepped out of downing Street everyone was commenting on her choice of kitten heels. Don't remember anyone remarking on the make of David Cameron's suits when he was PM |

Sometimes I wear a waistcoat, sometimes I don't. Some days it's a suit others it's trousers and blazer... if he's happy with what he wears then all is good.
I guess given his dislocated shoulder waistcoat will be easier to put on at moment as well.
Some people will like a guy with a waistcoat, some won't. It's life, ride the train or get off at the next stop and admire someone else |

But rarely are the comments derogatory and your question poses the option for peoples comments to be derogatory but if you had just asked do waistcoats still have a place in fashion or are they smart or not smart then fine as I wish people would not be so personal especially as Gareth is doing a good job for England. That's all I was trying to say. |

"Surely its simply a question of the right dress for the right occation worn in the right way for that person."
What should he have worn then. He looked great but it must have been uncomfortable in the heat. Maybe an England tracksuit. But it's his choice and as long as he is happy and feels good what does it matter as long as it doesn't stop him picking the team |

"As for the mentioned man, he is being his individual self and not a sheep XXX"
He's an ambassador for his country. He is setting an example for the players. It is called leadership. |
