Yes went to many over the years. Some told me too many specific things not to be true. I mostly went to them just for an added addition to a night out. My life is the best it's been and I'm very happy and content and don't really want to know what's round the corner so wouldn't go to another one x |

I don't believe our future is set. I think there are people who are very intuitive and can manipulate others and give a reading based on what they know and what the person is likely to believe or want to hear. |

No experience of crystal balls. Tarot cards in my opinion don't forecast the future but they are a big help in concentrating your mind, helping you focus on your past, present and future and giving you different ways of thinking about them.
Psychics are a different matter. |

Such things help focus your own mind or the power within yourself. It’s you doing the work the tarot or runes or wands or the insides of dead animals are simply tools to help you focus. They have no ‘power’ per se. |

I can read Tarot cards, although I've never learnt how to do it.
I also experience premonitions in dreams.
I have recited conversations that I wasn't present for to people that were by way of messages.
I can walk into a place or building & see pictures in my mind of what happened there long ago.
I also experience other things that can be quite invasive to my daily life & are disturbing. I don't earn money from doing this & I actually don't relish theses experiences.
I am an extremely intuitive & perceptive person. I'm ver observant & I have been described having an empathic personality. I believe that what people refer to as 'psychic' ability is just a highly honed perceptive personality that naturally occurs in some people.
I can't speak for people who do this for a living, but I have never found them to be particularly insightful or perceptive people |

I use tarot cards quite a lot. I've got several sets, probably mass produced. They make me think more deeply about whatever it is I'm focussed on, help me look at things from different angles and just generally help me sort my head out. They aren't going to tell me my future.
I don't see any problem with using a tool to help me focus.
I have given my head a wobble but I'm still the same |

A pack of tarot cards sat on a coffee table in ones sitting room have no power. Pick em up, shuffle them, concentrate on them and lay them and then you can read into what they suggest is a possibility. But my point is - they were useless until used. It’s humans that have the psychic energy (or whatever you want to can it) not inanimate objects. So it’s not really a maybe. |

I do genuinely believe some people are extremely intuitive and empathetic even possibly telepathic up to a point. I think most of them aren't though, I think they're extremely skilled at cold reading.
My mum dressed up as a fortune teller for a school fete years ago. A good many people approached her afterwards to tell her how accurate her predictions had been. She freely admitted to making it all up. |

The point I made earlier was that tarot cards have no intrinsic power so the answer is ‘nothing’. |

Does that mean in that respect that you can also use a toilet seat like a tarot card? |

In terms of predicting the future, I personally don't believe it.
If the future was already written, wouldn't that mean our whole lives are already mapped out? If this was to be true, there would no such things as coincidence or luck. It also would mean that we would have no freedom of choice at all which could possibly rendering our whole existence pointless. |

Guess that depends on the symbology you see on it! |

You could use a toilet seat in a Turner prize winning piece of art, thereby making it mean more than just something that makes going to the loo more comfortable. It's not the object but how you use it that gives it depth, meaning and symbolism. |

I am not into all this but I am willing for it to be proved so when asked by a friend to go with her to see a psychic as someone had dropped out I went to keep her company.
The man did all the blurb for 20 minutes, I kept answering no, that doesn't mean anything to me( as it didn't ) He then mentioned something that was relevant to me that no one would have guessed as it was so obscure and no one else would know, when I said blimey, how did you know that he looked so excited with himself that he had got something right , bless.
It hasn't changed my mind on it, but it was something that couldn't be explained how he knew. |

Hitler believed in destiny where the future is set. Although he thought his would be different haha! Maybe we can change little things but making major changes is more difficult. As Stephen King says ‘the past is obdurate’ |

How specific was it? I went to one with the same thought- to see if she could come up with anything relevant to me. She just had generic things to say like "is there a 'John' in your life". "Do you have a dead grandma". Stuff that 99% of people would say yes to.
In the end I felt bad for her and just said yeah she got it right even though she didn't. |

I believe in some of them but there are a lot of charlatans around.
My mum was a big believer interestingly one told her that she would relocate she would never be rich but would be comfortable and that she would suffer stomach problems. She died suddenly unexpectedly last year and it was stomach related.
I saw one I was recommended around 13 years ago and I was totally shocked how much he knew about me. Stuff I had never told anyone. He knew about things that had happened in my childhood, he knew I had lost a baby. He knew that I was going through a breakup at that time and I was scared about the future. He told me that I would fall in love with a older man who would become my best friend and he would have the initial A. 2 years later a I met a man who's surname started with A and who was 14 years older than me and he always was and still is my best friend. |

It was so specific and something I hadn't thought about ...I had to think about it and realised blimey he was right. I can't say on here but trust me, even I was shocked at how he would know it.
As I say though the rest was the normal blurb like names etc, they look at the persons age I think and go with names relevant to that era etc. He did get one other thing right that I forgot, he said " someone is starting school in September " It wasn't relative to me as ours were not at school but I am sure there were kids starting school in every September |

I think some of those can apply to lots of people , they might say it to everyone but it will apply to someone. A lot of people go to these people when they have something going on in their life, ie a death in the family / break up etc and they know this |

Confirmation bias can apply to predictions. You could be told many predictions and only remember one or two that "came true" and forget all the others that didn't. |

The FACTS are
If a person tells you something you think when could not know
Then a
You have been cold read and an educated lucky guess has been made or even worse
They actually KNOW and they way they know is by research , pockets picked , homes visited , friends family visited , internet searched , it's all very nasty and invasive xxx
Here's the thing if they KNOW something? and no one is ever doubting these people don't KNOW remarkable things , IF they KNOW where ever that knowledge has come from it has NOT come from a dead mind nor have they magically looked into and read your mind
And how can they possibly KNOW ? , RESEARCH ! |

Crystal ball reading utilises a technique known in esoteric circles, as Scrying. The ‘visions’ one perceives are the result of the trance like state one enters when practicing the said art. In fact in science, this state and the visions perceived as a result, correlate closely with Hypnogogic dreaming.
Do said visions carry prognosticative messages? I’m doubtful but it is an interesting practice nonetheless and is certainly highly relaxing |

Why don't a few of you throw out random comments & see if its relevant to anyone? Its easy to test out these theories.

"Crystal ball reading utilises a technique known in esoteric circles, as Scrying. The ‘visions’ one perceives are the result of the trance like state one enters when practicing the said art. In fact in science, this state and the visions perceived as a result, correlate closely with Hypnogogic dreaming.
Do said visions carry prognosticative messages? I’m doubtful but it is an interesting practice nonetheless and is certainly highly relaxing "
We'll that's interesting. |

scrying is very dangerous as you're exposed to every type of energy in the ether. If you try this, you should really learn how to repel less desirable energies first from an established psychic or healer.
I find real life is a bit like scrying for me...I repeatedly attract individuals who are unwitting energy 'vampires' without even having to do anything. Every now & again I have to withdraw & avoid people for months as it exhausts me & makes me ill. I've not perfected the art of protecting myself yet
Anyone else who experiences this will understand... |

"I believe in some of them but there are a lot of charlatans around.
I think some of those can apply to lots of people , they might say it to everyone but it will apply to someone. A lot of people go to these people when they have something going on in their life, ie a death in the family / break up etc and they know this"
The thing from my childhood there is only 2 people who knew about it and it's not something you would throw out in the air at someone put it that way. I've not been to one since partly because of how traumertised I was from the past being brought up |

There is a very interesting book by an author named Konstantinos wherein he details actually psychically perceiving the phenomenon of auric/psychic vampirism. He describes tendril like apparitions emanating from the (usually unknowing) culprits which attach and drain the equally oblivious victims. A fascinating read |

"Complete and utter bullshit I’m afraid. "
Indeed ,
For a start it is obvious the above concept regarding energys was made up !
"scrying is very dangerous as you're exposed to every type of energy in the ether. If you try this, you should really learn how to repel less desirable energies first from an established psychic or healer.

Ether ? Types of energy ?
Made up !
Now I don't mind euphemisms for positive psychology , but this is misuse of the words to give pretend meaning
If one is in so called deep meditative trance then ones brain can IMAGINE absolutely anything
Whatever "vibes" are experienced during such trips they are the sole manifestation of the brains imagination
Suggesting the brain is receiving energy at differing frequencys (That's what they wrongly mean by differing types of energy ) and those signals are communicating with brain showing it non made up things is totally without any basis or proof
Thus to follow with advice about repelling bad energy is just made up gobble speak

Put the “psychics” next to some nuclear material and see if they can pick up on the bad energy from that |

"I am not into all this but I am willing for it to be proved so when asked by a friend to go with her to see a psychic as someone had dropped out I went to keep her company.
He did get one other thing right that I forgot, he said " someone is starting school in September " It wasn't relative to me as ours were not at school but I am sure there were kids starting school in every September "
I like it when they do psychic events on the telly. "Does anyone have a gran that passed away? She has grey hair." And someone stands up "oooh yeah that's my gran!" |
