I sleep between 6-7 hours a night...but last night I had around 11 hours full sleep...I woke up and didn't now if it was sat or sun.I have been up under a far bit of pressure of late....but is this normal to sleep so long and no I had nothing to knock me out. But I still feel bloody lethergic.

Your thoughts?

Your working hours can’t help much though, getting up a daft o’clock

Somewhere In The Ether…

I must admit that I to invariably feel lethargic if I lay in too long; also I experience more intense dreams if I do so.

Yeah it'll happen to me too on occasion, especially if I haven't slept well in the week.

A necessary evil I’m afraid.

You must’ve needed it. Remember, your body heals & recovers when you sleep. I feel you though, if I sleep for ages, I get a headache.

Yep, your body needs recovery time from mental stresses too. Ive been a bit off recently and was just sleeping about 16 hrs a day for about a week

Yes, quite normal mistress. As someone else said, your body knows when it needs more sleep and if you're still lethargic, go back to bed!

I don’t have the best sleep pattern and I don’t get a lot of sleep. Generally I’m fine but on occasion I will have a very long sleep and although I think I will feel refreshed, I just feel lethargic and can get a headache.

It’s normal Mistress and happens to lots of us at some point I’m sure

I’m signed off work at the moment and sleep about eight hours a night. And I’m still exhausted during the day. One day I somehow napped for seven hours!!!

I don't think that that still counts as a nap

I’m an insomniac so haven’t got a good sleep pattern, occasionally I’ll sleep all night through then I seem to feel worse for it. I think it’s because I’m so tired it’s my bodies way of saying I need the rest. X

Quite normal, if you are feeling more burnt out. As for the lethargy, too much sleep can make you feel as tired as having too little sleep

You’ve been pushing to hit your weight loss target, yes ?

How’s your food / carb intake at the moment ?

Also If your excercising / pushing the gym - no matter how much sleep you have - your body will still feel lethargic

Just some thoughts ..

Sometimes there's occasions that I slept longer and feel like I've totally lost track of time when I wake. I think it's just your body saying you need that time to recuperate

That fact that you feel bad suggests you overslept, which is a real problem. I really recommend 'time restricted eating' as it makes your body clock for more efficient. I used to think i was just 'not a morning person' but actually it was late night eating that meant i couldn't get up in the morning and was routinely over sleeping, but feeling shit for it. I made that simple change and now i get up easily.

Given the weight loss, I would suggest you are calorie deficient - this is why you are or have been feeling lethargic.

Might be worth checking how many calories your actually eating.

Ah this all depends on how active you are one calorieCound does not suit all

..I'll average around 1500 to lose weigh

Then when I reach my target weight the aim is to be consuming around 2000 calories to maintain the target weight

Brighton - even Hove!

Too much sleep can leave you tired. I think it’s the hours of deep non R.E.M. sleep that helps your body and mind.

Work life balance is very difficult in a modern society.

Stress is very apparent in everyday life. As previously said it can take a toll on the body.

However. If you are still lethargic afterwards or even during the day and wish to sleep alot. There may be a bigger underlining mental health issue.

You may not be coping with the stresses of everyday living.

Time to speak to others, doctors and professionals to help you push through.

You may also have vitamin deficiencies; possibly iron or D I.e. SAD syndrome

Again Time to speak to others, doctors and professionals to help.

Mistress Amelia

Ah you may have a point there as I nebereally eat a proper meal until well after 6pm....I get plenty of calories though as I drink plenty of lattes morning and day..the only thing I'm scaredoing about is eating in the morning then having another meal in the evening whilst I'm still trying to shed some timber.

Looking into time restricted eating. Your daily window starts from the first thing that isn't water (e.g. coffee) in the morning and from there you have 9-12 hours before you should stop consuming calories. For me i delay breakfast and do 10am to 10pm.
