When younger I used to really enjoy films like Deep Impact. Nowadays I think they are all a bit throwaway. Popcorn fluff where you can switch your brain off for two hours, but barely remember once it's over. |

Disaster / dystopia movies can be good.
I don't think there are any hidden messages in them except in the main part movie makers have a negative view of people. They all seem determined to do something stupid to make the disaster worse, or kill off other survivors rather than work together.
Day after tomorrow was a bit different in that it had a happy ending. |

I love San Andreas. Great film and great SFX. I visited the Hoover Dam last year and showed my kids that part of the movie afterwards.... Don’t think they’d have gone if they’d seen it before! |

I love disaster movies! Always have! As a child my favourite was Towering Inferno, 2012 was great to watch and if you can class it as disaster then Twister is my all time fave! Never take them seriously, they just crack me up

Towering Inferno used to scare the shit out of me.
I like end of the world movies showing the breakdown of society. Like Dawn of the Dead. That can be construed as a disaster movie.
That one about the Tsunami. Sheesh |

The 1970’s were best for this particular genre in my opinion with such calamitous classics as, The Towering Inferno, The (original) Poseidon Adventure, Rollercoaster and even the killer bee movies. Ah....they don’t make ‘me like that anymore |

The day after tomorrow is a favourite of mine to watch over the Christmas time. I nearly got to see the Library room in New York where they all took shelter, but sadly it was being renovated when I was there.

That's not helpful at all. Seeside spells phonetically. Do you know what that means, if not, look it up. We all understand him, I'm sure his friends, family and employers do too. |

I don't think Atropos was sniping or meant any malice. It was purely a suggestion to help the OP.
I find Seeside difficult to understand because his spelling isn't how I would do it 'phonetically'.
Seeside, do you read phonetically too? |

Can't remember the name but the dad is a rescue helicopter pilot and ends up trying to find his older daughter, her boyfriend and possibly a child.
Ends up with him in a speedboat trying to rescue then from a flooded building.

Ah ha! Sorry - the one I was thinking of (I’ve just looked it up on the good old IMDB) was Deadly Encounter starring Larry Hagman.
I also remembered it completely erroneously to; He was a helicopter pilot trying to protect a lady from gangsters......not a disaster in sight I’m afraid |
