Is humanity heading in the right or wrong direction do you think?
I think about in particular the advent and commonplace of social media, the digital landscape is irrevocably changing us.. the interconnection we all have now is part of the fabric of a worldwide free speech social society. But not without its pitfalls, such as the non-personability of a text or dangerous viral propaganda..
*Ponder on..

Humanity is directionless in my opinion. Individually we have very little influence on the direction we take as a group and that group only ever reacts to circumstances rather than deliberately takes a direction.
Humans have no more direction than any other species. Where any of us end up is anybody's guess. |

It looks to me like obesity, diabetes and a sedentary lifestyle will kill us all eventually.
I was reading earlier how the Mediterranean diet is no longer a thing in the places it started. Sweden now has more of a Mediterranean diet than the Mediterranean themselves. 45% of children in Cyprus are now considered obese. |

It's interesting though that due to medical advances we're still living longer despite obesity etc. Will life expectancy decline as obesity becomes more widespread or will the medical profession develop ways to deal with it? |

Good question. I think it will all come down to money, in the end.
One country (I can't remember which) was doing something to combat child obesity, but it didn't say what.
The games console epidemic amongst boys is partly to blame maybe. Adults spend time sitting in front of computers and then go home to stare at a television while they eat processed food. It's a lifestyle we need to change. |

Well I think given the medical advances, alot of people are now using that time living far more unhealthy leading to increased chronic heart disease, liver damage etc. But I think we living linger due to the Offset of decline in what was other very large scale transferable diseases through education and science progression. |

My opinion is that it won't change until we're forced into it by war, famine or some other drastic occurrence. That's why I think we're directionless and merely react to outside influences. |

Transplants/dialysis and long term medication have all advanced significantly, but will the funding always be there with more people accessing treatment.
Our Government had the Sport for All campaign in schools and free swimming for children, a few years ago. That all got knocked on the head through lack of money. |

A lack of sustainable resources will fuel more wars, I think.
Water shortages could be London's next big problem. |

Throughout history humans have fought each other, and now we can do it on a global scale. The people that com and the war don't do so at a safe distance far removed from the reality of it. Let's hope we intelligence triumphs over greed. Or we're all doooooomed.
Make love not war I say! |

Let's not forget that stress plays a huge part on our health and well being. We experience life individually some struggle more than others. There are some people that will just burn themselves out |

I don’t know where technology will take us, but you see it in your day to day existence, people looking at there phones while they are sat with someone else. I don’t think it’s healthy. Also no-one can just enjoy something for what it is anymore, like a beautiful sunset. You have to be seen to doing something by others on social media instead of just being in the moment and taking it all in.
Do people engage in conversation like they used to, they are always distracted by some form of technology.
It’s enhanced life in some areas but taken away in others, maybe we will end up like the people on Wall-E, just obese sat looking at screens all day.
But on the flip side, I’ve met some amazing people through dating apps etc, that are good friends etc. It has also opened up other areas in my life.
I don’t think we need to progress any further in that aspect, but it won’t stop, cause that’s human nature. We can’t just say Okay that’s enough now. But also humans keep repeating the same mistakes, it’s in our DNA.
The saddest aspect of technology is when you go to a gig, to see a band live and you look around and see everyone holding there phones up filming the band. Why would you look at a small screen when the fucking band are there right in front of you, again it’s cause you can’t just go and be in the moment, you have to be seen to be there.
But I’d say leave your phones at home and go out and smell the flowers once in a while. |

"Hasn't it always been shit? People dying of the plague. People walking miles for water. People posting their dinner online. "
Pretty much. Humans tend to think that as a species we're more important than and superior to other species. It comes as a horrible shock when we realise we aren't. |

It’s been the same story throughout history.
As one generation ages, it becomes more conservative of thought.
The new generation coming through embraces change and the one preceding it thinks we’re all going to hell in a hand cart!
Ironic you should ask this question of complete strangers using digital devices lol |

We may be living longer but think we're regressing intellectually. The ease of technology is rotting our brains instead of enhancing them.
And young people are increasingly vain and narcissistic, photographing and documenting everything rather than living in the moment. Relishing that dopamine hit from someone liking their pictures rather than nurturing their soul.
I dunno. We're all fucked. Let's have an orgy |

When people go on about the youth of today.Socrates always makes me smile and he said this 2500 years ago.So every generation bitches about the youth of "today".
"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room." Socrates .

A planet with equality all over and shared wealth and resources spread between everyone, a planet where we protect nature and not make all kinds of creatures extinct, a planet where everyone would be kinda, more loving towards one another.
A planet without wars and nukes and peace.
These things would require drastic change that everyone would need to do and play their part, these things would need to happen today not tomorrow, not next week, month, year.
But the bleak future we are headed for, more wars, more starvation, more obesity, more over population, depleating resources.
This future doesnt ask anything of us today.
So we just continue on knowing the future doesnt look great for the next generations to come but as long as we dont have to do anythimg today.

Yep!
If only people would just accept that I'm superior to everybody else there would be no problem |
