Ex Liverpool and Sky pundit Jamie Carragher caught spitting at at a Family of Manchester United fans on the motorway after Saturday's 2-1 defeat. The driver of the family car was goading him about the score.
Do you think Sky will sack him during today's meeting? Sky have issued a report saying his actions were totally unacceptable. personally I think his actions were disgusting.

I agree spitting is disgusting and yes he should be punished. But why do people feel it's fair to act unfairly by goading or being aggressive towards sports stars yet they are supposed to just ignore it |

I have been to Nottingham on my own on the eve of a F****t v Derby match in ma Rams shirt and had some banter with some of their fans, but there was never any violence or disgusting behaviour.
Ok, he has apologised, but why do it in the fist place? |

I've just watched the video.
The bloke in the other car says. Alright Jamie Lad. 2-1 aye 2-1.
Carragher spits a huge gob full at them which sprays..
Poor girl is very calm, they seemed like okay people. Not rough , not screaming , not shouting.
No excuse for Carragher except arrogance.

I've watched the video and read the report and have to say I think they are playing fast and loose with the facts on both sides!
I don't see how he can keep his job purely because it's such a high profile one and spitting at someone is disgusting.
I am sure Mr carragher has experienced worse 'banter' in the past but then again sometimes it's the small things that break you.
I wonder if the guy videoing it will get picked up for using his phone to video while driving though. |

But if you read the paper reports she's crying and in complete shock.
Jamie did apologise moments later allegedly which the girl accepted at the time but it seems to have blown up once mum found out. |

might get an application form from Sky as if he doesn’t get the sack then it would be quite wrong.
How can he go in front of The cameras now with any kind of authority or respect.
Plus the rivalry between the cities and clubs is tribal in some quarters. Spitting at a 14 year old girl is just so bad. |

The guy in the car should learn how to win with humility he could have past Jamie or just say bad luck Jamie but no he has to take the piss out of him and put his 14 year old daughter at risk, plus 6 points on his licence I think . |

6 points on his driving license for spitting?!
Yes it's disgusting and he should be punished suitably.
This story has all the hallmarks if what is wrong with the media at the moment and people's ability to manipulate it. Seriously, watch the video then read the reports and see just how much the family have built things up. |

"is it not 6 points on the guys licence for using his phone"
The driver broke the law by using a mobile device while the car was moving. No doubt due process of the law will take effect and he will suffer the consequences.
I wouldn’t say the incident was overly provocative and I wonder what Mr Carragher would do if someone spat at his daughters. The reaction was totally unwarranted and cannot be tolerated. He should do the decent thing and resign. |

Imagine if they sack him though, no more voice of football Jamie Carragher. The beautiful game just won't be the same without his great voice and all the things he says about it in a nice voice. Don't ruin the football by not having Jamie Carragher describe things that I've just watched in that lovely voice that is pleasant to listen to. |

The headline is shocking...
The video is terrible and JC is fully aware he let his persona slip.
If you watch the video you can hear the girl getting annoyed with her father, you can hear in her voice that she is ashamed of his behaviour so I would suggest it’d gone on much longer than the video shows.
Carragher will probably get done by the police too, that poor girl caught in the middle of two idiots, her Dad and JC. |

I hate spitting anyway and this was not good, but I think he was aiming it at the man who was goading him and filming him whilst driving more than the daughter ( which still isn't good whoever it is aimed at)
I think more has been made since about the daughter being traumatised although obviously it wasn't very pleasant, but that is probably about money. |

It's common assault, wether he was goaded or not.
And yes as an ex professional footballer he has I'm sure experienced worse goading than that and should be able to shrug it off without reacting.
Will he lose his job over this?who knows?who cares?but it does show what a vile and disgusting man he really is.

I'm not condoning Jamie Carragher or spitting in any way but he's said that he'd been followed and shouted to a 3-4 times The video seen may not be complete and I'm also wondering why it was being filmed anyway.
Ultimately the car driver was happy to goad and push, he evidently did so past the point where Carragher could tolerate it.

Spitting is like a way of life for footballers and sports people in general even golfers do it these days,I don't mind the genuinely fucked ones doing it so much but Christ there gobbing all over running on as a sub .
Once it became endemic they just started gobbing at each other Willy nilly, so it's no surprise to see it being carragers modus operandi |

Jamie Carraghers position with Sky is untenable. If he holds any ambassadorial with Liverpool then he should step down with immediate effect
Spitting is worse than physical assault. I worked in a customer facing role years ago and was spat upon, I had 3 prolonged showers that night and still felt filthy, even though it only hit my shoulder. I'd have felt better if I'd been wrapped around the jaw
The driver of the car must also face the consequences of his actions. He committed a criminal offence by using a handheld device while in control of a moving vehicle |

Been a supporter since the mid 60's and whilst recognising the work he's done with the 23 foundation with this behaviour he has let himself, the foundation and the club down..
Aside from what Sky do i think that once the police get rightly involved he will step down from that position..
the other guy's behaviour in using his phone to record himself winding up Carragher should be looked at too..
spitting at someone is vile behaviour.. |

Let he who is without sins cast the 1st stones, lets be honest, how many people (including you reading this) have at some point in our lives been driving home from work which is what Carra was doing, and got pissed off by another motorist and in return you given them the verbals or the finger or a rant or some other aggressive action? Or have you been in the receiving end following something that you did? Did you deserve to get sacked? Or is it 1 rule for 1 and another rule for others? We all would say it’s disgusting but FFS it’s hardly the crime of the century |

Losing ones rag and giving someone verbals and gestures is not the same as spitting at and on someone, its assault to spit on someone..
had i when in uniform spat on any one of the idiots in my face or trying to interfere in what we were doing i would have been rightly guilty of gross misconduct and in all likelihood dismissed.. |

no, you're right,it isnt the crime of the century but i am pretty sure that spitting at the customers (and lets face it.... a football fan is one of Sky's customers,no matter where they are and what team they support) would constitute gross misconduct and bringing the business into disrepute no matter who you are. |

As with a lot a these situations more people seem to be offended on other people’s behalf,
Idiots phoning talk shows or comments on social media either defending him because of there alliance to LFC or saying things like I will never watch sky again while he is employed by him need to get a life

I am totally against spitting, especially at someone. But he doesn’t deserve the sack, Samu Saiz (Leeds Utd) was banned for 6 matches for spitting at another player, so from a footballing perspective it would seem reasonable to the same to JC. No footie commentary for 6 weeks and no pay during that period. Whilst it is vile it doesn’t merit the sack. |

As someone that has been spat on for doing my job as far as I am concerned spitting is the lowest of the low.He should be punished as a Man Utd supporter it would be easy to say sack him.Not sure what a fair and suitable punishment would be as if he lost he job I am sure he earned enough as a player not to have to work again. |

That's how it is in the UK. You can't assault someone for saying something to you. It's not just stars, every normal person out there has to ignore a d*unk calling them names. Hit them, spit on them and its assult, its that simple.
There are other countries where you can hit someone who wont leave you alone, but UK is not one of them countries. You can hit someone who wont leave you alone in Ireland. |

This is clear cut to me - dismissal and Sky should have done it as they have a legal department and could have gone advice within 15 minutes.
Now imagine if we are the public face of your organisation like Carragher is for sky sports. Imagine if a member of public goads you (much more mild than in stadiums) and you spit at that person? Instant dismissal I’m pretty sure.
Only people defending him are those who have an allegiance to Liverpool surely? |

You won't fix football it's irreparably broken. It's corrupt from top to bottom and has been for the 50 years I've been watching. The thing is it is getting worse rather than better. Unemployment happen. They have had a long time to sort it out and ignore it. The incidents of hate chanting by opposing fans at both of these grounds are caught on Cctv which has the ability to see who is singing these dreadful songs yet nothing happens. Having attended both venues I would say the hate chants about Munich have thankfully diminished at Anfield yet sadly there are still idiots out there who think it is acceptable to sing about such tragic events. Unfortunately, I would like to say that at Old Trafford songs about Hillsborough were by an idiotic minority but I have heard 50-60000 so called United fans join in on a regular basis and it's on the increase. Anyone doing this on either side should be ejected and permanently banned as they have no place in football or society in general. |

I feel really sorry for Carragher. The Daily Mail have destroyed yet another persons career.
I think MR Carragher has pissed on his own parade in this instance.
He spat at a 14 year old girl for fuck sake"
The 14 year old was unfortunately caught in the “crossfire” and I don’t for a minute believe he spat “at the girl”. The dad was a monumental arsehole for goading him repeatedly. |

"Yeh sack him but name and shame and sack the cunt who was goading him. And let's here exactly what that cunt said towards Carra because you can bet it was something at least equally repulsive and probably worse than him spitting at this prick.
Does that mean also sack everyone in the crowd who shouts at footballers and ex-footballers, or just sack people who shout at footballers and ex-footballers who then get spat at????
Sack them all. And if its criminal what they are chanting then prosecute them and the club.
Then the grounds would be three quarters empty and the tens or hundreds of thousands more unemployed
Who cares? Football needs a complete clear out from fifa down. Its a disgrace from top to bottom.
so making thousands unemployed is fixing football how?????
And don't forget sacked from their job of employment |

No. He reacted wrongly but I think the dad is as much to blame as well. What if I repeatedly taunted you over and over about something you were deeply passionate about. I bet you would react in some sort of fashion. |

the majority of players spit during a game ,obviously not at each other but it gives a bad example
had a copper been about its an 80 pound on the spot fine for spitting
its 250 pound fine and 6 points on his licence for the guy filmimg whilst driving
thats how the general public would have been punished
not that im condoning what he done as right ,but i do think hespat at the car not the girl.
best thing he shoulda kept his window up and ignored |

Not from that driver as you can quite clearly hear him say 'oh its Jamie carragher' before winding his window down to speak. |

There is wrongdoing on both sides here and in my opinion, both parties should be punished in accordance with the law over this.
I can’t condone what mr Carragher has done, it was a vile and disgusting act. However, the driver was goading, provoking and seeking a reaction all while filming it. He certainly got one! He didn’t like it and went running to the media. |

I agree with that Evie, but it seems odd that the girl was already slumped down in the seat (which had been moved right back) as if embarrassed already. You would almost think the seat was moved back earlier to get a better shot of film which could suggest there is more footage
I also think he didn't say to himself let's spit at a young girl today, he was probably aiming it at the mans car.
( obviously disgusting whichever one it was )
I don't think he should be sacked though, surely everyone has cocked up one way or another in their life and not been sacked |

IMO the young girl was the only one whom showed any maturity, but the fact remains that millions have now seen this on TV & Jamie Carragher is one of Sky's faces - and that's a pretty damn ugly face for a multi billion pound company to have. |

She seemed suitable embarrassed with the situation and who can blame her.
Glad you mentioned the mobile phone.
Just like spitting at someone, using a mobile whilst driving is wholly unacceptable. |

but why would anyone who knows the possible consequences of being seen by the police just happen to have his phone on record saying oh look its so and so then wind the window down etc..
he's either seen him before he decided to film him, which may possibly mean there was verbal going on and he thought i'll get him on camera going into one ..
Carraghers response was vile and out of order but unless there is more footage it does look like he was being baited before, maybe not just by the guy filming which may explain the red mist..
Carragher lives in Liverpool so banter is commonplace with the blue half of the city, its not like he is new to such things which makes his response not only disgusting but strange.. |

"Jc has anger issues..booked many times ..threw a coin at fan and now this ..sky should sack him if they have any respect for role models ...x"
clearly you know little about him as do i on a personal level but you can't ascribe anyone with anger issues on the level of bookings received as a professional footballer..
yes he was wrong in reacting with the coin issue but his record of bookings in his career has nothing to do with anger..
ps.. the 'role models' are on the pitch.. |

He also does ALOT for the local community. He should be sacked in my opinion. When he was a player, he was a commodity and needed by the club, now he’s a pundit and there is 10 more behind him ready to take the place. He’s not all so bad but there’s no denying he shouldn’t have spat hah. |

No role model for Sky TV??? Do they not have Ryan Giggs on occasionally?
Why on earth do people think that people on TV, whatever the channel, or in fact any publicly held position should be held up as any sort of role model? Why not be the best person you can be and accept that we are all flawed in some way cos we're human.
