Excellent subject. For me it has to be the scene in Platoon where Willem Defoe almost makes it to the chopper. I think it was Adagio for strings and it was later turned into a dance track during my clubbing days. Absolute hair standing up on the back of your neck and choking back the tears moment for me. |

"Requiem for a Dream soundtrack is awesome and much used elsewhere because of that."
Clint Mansell...I remember when he was a dreadlocked grobo on Beaver Patrol Did go and see him perform this and some of his other scores live, about 18 months ago- brilliant, but far too short- amusingly full of other 40-50 somethings in PWEI/Stuffies/Neds/Carter shirts
I'll throw in An der schönen blauen Donau, in Kubricks 2001. He was probably the first to use classical (or juxstaposed music) as a soundtrack to a contempory film, which he repeated well in Clockwork Orange 3 years later |

because it's still scary and damaged many of us.. the minute I hear cellos underwater I'm out of there.. Even if it's the bath.
would chop my little finger off to go cage diving with great whites though. not much scares me anymore..but that.. oh my |

"Requiem for a Dream soundtrack is awesome and much used elsewhere because of that.
He was probably the first to use classical (or juxstaposed music) as a soundtrack to a contempory film, which he repeated well in Clockwork Orange 3 years later"
Yes, seems an unlikely composer on back catalogue.
Got to love juxtaposed!

I watched it when I was 7. My ex and I are quite open minded and our children kept pestering us to let them watch it.. so we relented.
My eldest was fine, thought the old style special effects were silly, laughed at every over dramatic death.. till the film implied the dog didn't survive the beach attack, he was in pieces afterwards.. My youngest wanted to carry on watching and was distraught that the eldest couldn't hack it anymore.
No nightmares, no bad effects. |

Funny this thread! We’re we’re sorting out the music for the ceremony last night and we have chosen all film pieces (apart from my song I am walking down the aisle too and the song out), we’ve got superman theme, game of thrones, Harry Potter and Star Wars for when people are coming in and then beauty and the beast and my ultimate favourite the Jurassic Park theme, for signing the register, it makes me cry everytime!

John Williams is the most amazing filmscore composer, with over 100 films to his name.
For me, it is the opening credits, or the imperial march.. |
