I just checked and yes, they're blue/purple on the phone, but always black on desktop.
In that case, they turn from blue to purple when you yourself click on the message. |

Ahh that must be it. Thanks for clearing that up. I’ve only used the mobile version so wasn’t aware of the differences to the desktop version. |
