In terms of fun to drive, definitely the type R.
In terms of being able to turn heads and draw attention at shows...my old audio car, I really miss that car sometimes |

Favourite car I've owned had to be my first car which was a Mini GT. It was old and things regularly fell off it but I loved it.
Pretty much driven unexciting things since then but tomorrow I'm picking up my new car a Mini Countryman Cooper D All4 business edition |

Home converted Transit campervan was a memory maker (no, not Fab related!), but as a car my fave was a Rover 800 Vitesse Sport. It was fucking massive, nicknamed the Starship Enterprise (it was white) it was a 3 door, turbo charged flying machine. Just a shame I killed it (blew head gasket) in less than six months and had to get rid |

First car was a gold Rover Metro Vanden Plas with brown interior and a huge exhaust, it cost me £150.
Most of my cars after were equally appalling, Ford Granada, rover 25, Renault clio, fiat punto plus a few others.
Now have a Renault Megane RS Renaultsport, had some work done and now puts out 340hp. Makes me smile when I drive it. |

Mine has to be the only one I’ve ever regretted selling which was my old 1965 VW split screen camper, so many fun times and was my daily driver for years. Only sold it when I went to university and needed cash |

Of the many I've owned the one that I wish I hadn't sold was my 1961 Series 2a Land Rover.
I took her to Denmark with me when I worked on a farm out there in the mid eighties, then brought her back and did my courting in her, it was then I found out that the roof leaked that side , obviously didn't put my then girlfriend off as we later married, and still are.
I part exchanged the Land Rover for a mint condition 1977 two door Range Rover which a tree fell on a week later in the October 1987 storms.
Bah!.

Haha I think we've had similar posts before... I am an MX5 girl too with personal plate MX5? SUZ.
I recently sold my Mk2 as it was coming up to 99,300 miles. So bought a Mk3 with only 39,000 on the clock. Moved the personal number over of course ... |

My first car, a big blue Hillman Hunter. My friends called it the Springsteen Machine. It had "Springsteen" on a sunstrip across the back window and "Born to Run" on the driver's door.
It also led to the best advice my dad ever gave me: "You have a car, or you have money." He was right, because I stopped commuting and got rid of a car, took a job for half what I was making before and saved more money. |

Had a mark 1 Skoda Fabia VRS. Loved it. Took it on track days around Silverstone and Croft. Miss it. Such an underrated motor. Used to get questioned about it by blokes in forecourts. Now have a Smart ForTwo. Actually more fun to drive. Like a Go-Kart on the roads! Always challenge a larger motor at the lights. Get some thumbs up for it as well.
Got a race-license. Nice to see a car thread here. |

Yeah, you need to be quick off the marque with low mileage MX5's. They tend to be second cars and owners are generally not too fussed, especially if the MOT and/or the tax is due. For a Mark 2, the CO2 emission is higher so the tax is more expensive than for the Mark 3.
I sold my 99,300 miles Mark 2.5 to a small dealer that specialised in semi-collectable and classic cars for £1k. Not bad for 53 plate. It was Sunlight Silver and I still think it looks better than the Mark 3. |

Currently saving up to treat myself to a Merc CLK320cdi AMG. Fingers crossed |

Currently I have a little 1ltr Vauxhall Corsa turbo.... really enjoy it, and Cheffy has a Vauxhall Insignia.
My favourite car was my Renault Clio (2002). It was so quirky, the electrics finally died but for months it was a lottery what you would get if you switched on the heater for example... the radio would come on. Switch the radio on and the wipers would swish across the screen... it was awesome fun to drive |

For ages and ages i had all sorts of BMW M3535i's. Then in the late 90's I bought a McClaren F1. Yes it was second hand, but fuck...................it was the best car i have ever owned by miles and miles. The only thing that comes anywhere near to it now is my current Ducati motorbike..............and the top end on that is slower. Things change over time though and i was forced to sell the F1 in 2000...............had to be done, but i really really wished i still had it |

So far it has been my current car. Skoda Fabia 1.9.
Love it. 56 mpg, fast enough and just holds the roads like shit on a blanket.
Seriously good heaters too. Warms up in minutes.

BMW 3.2 CSL was a blast but too valuable to use outside of fine summer days. Left it to appreciate for a few years then passed it on.
Delta Integrale HF-Evo1. Brilliant driving experience but needed regular attention especially if a daily driver. Expensive if you not a garage monkey and dont nip problems in the bud.
BMW 3 Series D3 Alpina. Great reliability, economy plus all the performance you need. Better all round car than the previous two just not as desirable in sporting motor circles.
Best fun, drive and running of all would be a Mazda Mx5 mk1 1600. Dont really need to slow for bends beyond off throttle and happy to be revved like a demon. They're good until you go on a demon shopping trip.

My favourite would have to be the Short Wheel Based MkII Transit, 1.6 petrol, 4 speed and hand painted in blue Hammerite.
The reason I have such fond memories for this vehicle is because not only was it my band waggon and impromptu campervan but it's also where I first had sex with Nita |

Just changed to a Jaguar XE. Apart from the fact it is a stunning car and a joy to drive, I have an App which shows me the location of me and the car, if it’s locked and alarmed, the weather where it is, the trips I have done and many more things, but the best thing is the ability to start it remotely. Never having to get into a cold and iced up car is divine |

I've just had to change mine. Got a new job so I now have to commute 50 miles a day starting in a few weeks.
Renault Megane RS250 was what I had but it's not at economical, struggle to get 20mpg.
Picking up BMW 330D at the weekend, lovely car but not as fun to drive.
Just can't justify spending that much on fuel.

This is exactly why i have a type R
On the motorway it can be reasonable at around 30mpg. But still ridiculously fun when taking it through the Rev range.
A focus ST or similar would of put me in the same boat with fuel costs |

I’m already spending at least £12 per day to go to work in my civic, pretty much every other hot hatch would be even more and be totally unviable.
I’m eying up the new type R this summer I think, again it’s got reasonable mileage which is a big factor for me....I just refuse to get a diesel |
