I'm an route to see mine right now ... Heaven 17

Some of the old 80s groups are losing their vocal ranges but not Heaven 17!

Blancmange did a great cover of abbas day before you came.
My all time favourite 80's band is Depeche mode. |

There is so nuchal from the 80's to love and dispise in equal measure..
The Thompson twins was one I liked way back and I did enjoy some of Kate Bush's stuff but the absolute legend for me was Adam Ant, I remember vividly hearing Ant music for the first time and thinking "Yeh, something different".
And then there was tears for fears, slightly different but music I enjoyed. |

Looked through, I can't believe David Bowie isn't in the list..
I appreciate he had already started his career in the 70's but the 80's he reinvented himself and was at the forefront of 80's fashion (albeit some quite dreadful)..
Without Bowie it's unlikely the new romantic movement would ever have been quite as popular and rimmel just would not have sold as much eye liner and lippy as it did.. |

There and to the left a bit |
Blimey where do I start? The start of the 80s was where my musical tastes were forged and honed...
...the biggest selling singles act of the decade are still my favourite band...have seen them 50 plus times...in venues as small as the back room of a pub right up to arenas and (one step) beyond
Other than that pick any of the following:
The Jam
The Specials
The Beat
Dexys
Prefab Sprout
The Housemartins
The Redskins
U2
ABC
Ian Dury & The Blockheads
UB40 (until they became a crap covers band)
The Style Council
The Blow Monkeys
...and many many more

Just on my way home and had the best night of the year.
Blancmange were distinctly average but Heaven 17, as ever were tremendous. The 900 person venue was packed to capacity and everyone was standing, dancing and singing.
I was front and centre - perfect position - absolutely stunning gig, fantastic!
Only downside I didn't get to meet them again this year |
