"I tested it, I said I would - the numbers on a toaster do NOT correspond to minutes, less than half that, and I still set off the fire alarm!!
What myths have you busted or found to be false?? "
Also if anyone knows what those do correspond to, I’d like to know!
Sorry to piggyback your thread OP x |

The numbers correspond to the toastiness of your toast. 7 seems to be the most toasty toast in lots of toasting cases.
Has anyone ever used the 1 setting?? |

I've busted the myth that single slightly portly non trendy males on fab, never get their messages answered.
Lots of you lovely folk do reply.
I'm not trying to start debate by the way, a slightly tongue in cheek view on a fab myth. |

It gets better - I asked before what could possible handle 7 mins in a toaster! 'Frozen crumpet' I was told!
Well, I am experimenting with a vegetarian diet. And that meant I bought a Quorn sausage patty for the first (and possibly only) time in my life.
So I wondered, as you do, how long it would take, in a Dualit toaster, to render a Quorn sausage patty edible!
I can report it was 2 x 5, which was only 5 mins in total, during which time the crumbs that always live in the bottom of every toaster began to combust! |

See you have posh one, mines a £5 job from Tesco !!! What do you expect !!!!
I’m sticking with crumpet though Googled
In fact, it turns out that they don't really mean anything of real merit. Different toasters use different methods to time time their heating—be it a bi-metallic strip that changes shape to measure temperature increase or a capacitor that's charged and makes your slices pop up when a given voltage is reached. |

Why would you try and cook a frozen veggie sausage in a toaster?! Try the Linda McCartney ones - much nicer but put them under a grill...! |

It's all clearly defined in British Standard BS8960:1972 , superseded by European standard EN547838:2002 Indicators and Cooking Levels for Household Toasting Appliances. Copies viewable at the National Library for free.
There's a massive argument in the Politics forum, if after Brexit we will return to British toasting levels or stick with the newer European ones. |

I built a giant conveyor belt in my garden and put a jumbo jet on it. It didn't take off. Busted!
.
It did however smash into Asda, but that's best left until after the court case is finished... |

OK, so you have to bust the myth. Set up an experiment and report back."
I have completed it. They will sort of look up for bacon but wont for lettuce.
So on balance I would say dogs can't look up for lettuce. |
