Occasionally I stumble upon some brilliant tunes on YouTube when I was searching for something entirely different.
Even though I can't play a stringed instrument properly to save my life, I love the natural raw sound of them.
Here's one that I'm liking at the moment, what about you
Joe Bonamassa & Tina Guo - Woke Up Dreaming

Check out Gaz Brookfield for some powerful acoustic tunes. My faves are It;s Just a Ride and Knight's of the Round Table.

Tim Hardin did a blistering performance of 'if i were a carpenter' at woodstock with just an acoustic guitar .... it's a wonder he could even see the guitar he was holding let alone stand up considering the amount of horse he'd done before the gig. but then i guess if he wasn't blissfully ignorant of the fact that he was playing to half a million people in front of him he would of shat himself and been too nervous to go on

"Any thing by
Nick Drake
John Martyn
Bert Jansch
A good starting point but to many more to mention.

Was lucky enough to get to know John Martyn and see him perform when he lived on a canal boat next to Telfords Warehouse in the 90's. I never tired of watching him play, mesmerising guitar work and vocals |

Wow, an experience you'll never forget!
Love solid air and live at Leeds. sounds like there's a fretless acoustic bass on his albums to. Altogether an amazing sound. |

I used to pop in for a pint on my way home from work and he was usually sat at the bar, I didn't realise who he was for ages and just used to talk about all kinds of shit. Then one day they had a poster up for him playing there and then made the connection as to who he was. I still used to chat about the same shit as we had before |

John Martyn was a magician. The songs, the playing, the singing. They're on another level, spellbinding stuff. There's a live in dublin concert with Danny Thompson on youtube that I regularly watch.

They may have magic powers beyond our comprehension but they are just people. Nice to engage with such talent though. Specially if they are nice people. |

There are three voices that could sing the phonebook and get me into bed. One of them is Kelly Joe Phelps:

FYI,the other two are Steve Miller and Michael McDonald. "Aardman 07931 22467, baby, ooh yeah..." |

I love acoustic versions of songs and most live music. There's something magical and captivating about one powerful voice and one instrument.
Take the voice away and add more instruments and you have what I'm currently loving at the minute and they still give me goosebumps.
The group are called Meute

"I don't know why I post YouTube clips because no fucker watches them"
I do, that's why I resurrected this thread. Have you listened to any that have been posted on here?
It doesn't have to be total black man's blues, just as long as it's not nonsensical "pop music" which seems to be churned out on a far too regular basis these days...... |

"Anthony phillips Ah, the man from Genesis who never got any recognition "
The very same. Writes a lot of music for TV these days but had also released many acoustic and semi acoustic guitar based albums over the last 40 years. His first "The Geese and the Ghost" is a great starting point. |
