Ive turned into jamie oliver
Jump to: Newest in thread
As im back on my diet with gusto. Ive devised all these non fat recipes. Ive had friends round for tea twice this week and there coming back again tomorrow im also doing it as cheaply as i can, at the moment i have tomatos, red peppers, onions, basil and herbs roasting in the oven to make a nice tomato and roast pepper soup. I lost 7lb this week but bloody needed to as its been creeping up since christmas.
So i may write a credit crunch diet book lol.
Oh any gorgeous men (or women) that would like to come and sample my wares feel free lolxxkarenxxx |

A good tip for dieters.
Shellfish.
Can be cooked in all kinds of ways with all kinds of things to get different and exciting flavours and they have virtually no calories in 'em.
No where near as expensive as they used to be either.
For example if you are watching the pennies as well as the lb's (!) Iceland (I feel dirty for recommending this!) do a couple of frozen shellfish things that are actually quite good. A shellfish medley with mussels, prawns, scallops and longestine (sp!) for about £4 a box (pretty much a meal) or scallops with garlic butter for £3 a box.
Pretty tasty, not hugely expensive and not unhealthy. |

thanks for the tip acouple.
Fussie you can make a low fat version of lasagne, i change lots of recipes around as im doing slimming world.
So if you had lasagne substitute mince for quorn, and for your cheese sauce use skimmed milk and half fat cheese.
Admittedly it wouldnt taste as nice but would be a good substitutexxkarenxx |

Jason lost 10stone with Slimming World. I like their shepherds pie where the topping is made from sweet potato, swede and parsnip. And the cheese is those triangle thingys..... the half fat ones.
As for shellfish.........
Any ideas for moi as I'm allergic to shellfish, ALL nuts, cheese and I can't digest anything soured, i.e. yoghurt.... |

Ok.
Buy a steamer and use it!! Cooking with steam massivly reduces your weekly intake of Kals as there is no added fats to cook in or with.
Eating little and often is good. Very good infact.
Dried Apricots. 3 of 'em make a good snack as they are low in fat, have good natural sugars for an energy boost and count as one of your five a day.
A good tasty low fat breakfast is mini shredded wheats, a small amount of hunny nut cornflakes (for the sweetness) a banana and some rasions with semi skimed milk. Very filling and gives you energy for ages. (Obviously you wont be able to use the crunchy nuts Mad, but sustitute away)
A really good sugar sustitute is Splenda as it contains no Aspartimine (which, personally I think is a nasty chemical sweetener). |
