Ok, I'm not one who generally gives a shit about what anyone says about me.

However, this week two of my close friends on two separate occasions have called me Ice Queen. Now once I pinned them down, beat them to pulp and made them retract thier words. I started thinking about it (thinking being one of the things I believe is bad for your health, a bit like sprouts).

Now, yes I know I am not one to display emotions but Ice Queen FFS.

So the point of this thread is...

Has a close friend/relative ever made an observation about you that you though..hang on Im not like that..or am I?

Do you not think they had a point, and as it came from 2 separate sources maybe a period of introspection is in order

The value of a persons comment about you is directly proportionate to the part they hold in your life which are then compounded by your own insecurities. Its a bit like a risk assessment.

For example, if a complete stranger says that your unfeeling, then you can dismiss this comment because they have no real insight into your life, however if the same comment is said by someone who knows you well, even if it is still unfounded it carries more weight.

Have you ever considered how many compliments you have received in a day??????

I do a lot of cognitive behaviour therapy, it really does turn your thoughts around. I only take in the positive now and seem to forget the negative. Its taken over two years so far but it really does work wonders. karenx

One of my friends said i was "self-involved". I was so upset by that comment. She wasn't even being nasty, it was said in a general chat about personalities.

Once i say and thought about it, i considered if she was right. I do like to talk and this can give the impression of being self-involved. Plus, i totally obsess!

This comment was made about a year ago. Since that point, i've really worked hard on not appearing to be self-involved. I don't even know if it was just her own impression, or if others thought it. But sometimes, a comment hits hard and makes you think a lot more about the kind of personality you offer to those around you.
