I really have to disagree on Aliens being better than the original.
Just no..
Alien is a stone cold classic in both SF and Horror genres. The sequel was just a case of..'instead of just one alien, lets have 100 as that will be a 100 times better' Err..not even close.
Terminator 2 yes. |

Most of the Bonds (apart from the Moore ones from Moonraker onwards) were better than the original.
Both Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi were better than the original.
Die Hard 2 was certainly on a par with the original, as was Terminator 2.

It really boils my piss when people say Aliens is better than Alien! The queen was a cop out and disregarded egg morphing and the Alien was no more than slightly intelligent cannon fodder. Aliens is a good movie, but not a good Alien movie. I actually thought Resurrection was better than Aliens! |

Whenever this questioned is asked most usually think of Aliens and rightly so.
Some argue empire is better but I prefer some of all 3.
Captain America is the best sequel in a long long time
I disagree whoever said back to the future 2 was better than the original... that's just silly haha
For me Indiana Jones 2 the temple of doom was better than the first Indy too.
I think terminator 2 was better as it was more modern but terminator 1 isn't bad at all thus 2 is only an inch ahead....size does matter apparently afterall lol |

Aliens is not better than Alien. Not even close.
It completely lacks the tension and the closeness which the horror genre thrives in. Going instead for lots of characters who just shoot everything. I'd class it as an action film rather than sci-fi horror.
It's a good film, but nothing beats Ripley going at it alone towards the end of the first.
