Not having a dig Seeside, but bit did at 1st think 'what the f@ck,is this guy using some kind of code' in your posts, till you mentioned being dyslexic
Everyone has typeos now and then... im using a Samsung tablet to access internet (and Fab)...and as i type messages here it underlines wrongly spelt words in red... |

Completely serious now which is very rare for me I know but what most people really don't get is how much balls it takes to post in a public forum with this disability and belive me that is what this is. Would anyone openly take the piss out of for instance some poor soul with downs syndrome or a arm or leg missing no not if they had any feeling in them but it's all well and good to say we are thick and have a good laugh because we struggle to spell. I think fucking not. Every post I make and I dare say seaside to takes 10x the effort it take for anyone without this and that's what people need to realise. That's not a dig at anyone it's a cold hard fact.... |

Doesn't make a jot of difference to us we know it's wrong but don't know what's right. Add to that and I'm speaking personly here as there are different levels of this the letters jumbling around and we are totally screwed and not the good kind |

They are not hard to understand. I love reading _eeside's posts. I know he has dyslexia, but I know exactly what he means. Yes I do have a chuckle to myself sometimes, because I couldn't even come up with the way he spells things

so what if people aren't even dyslexic and just can't spell also, like not everyone had a decent education either. |

For me( spell check nazi here) I can read your spelling and grammer and knowing you're dyslexic have no problems at all with it. As said earlier you write the way things sound which actually is great as it makes it easy to understand. My Nazi stuff is for the lazy sods who just plain can't be bothered.
Nothing worse than " how r u" as opposed to "how are you". For the non dyslexics it's just pure lazy! |

It actually makes things even harder for us. English or at least written English is 1 funked up language and when it's messed about with even more it near impossible |

My dyslexia is mostly phonetic/auditory based. I'm quite good visually ao i can read well by the shape of the words.
The ops posts i find near impossible because theyre written phonetically and so don't have the right shape i have to mutter them ubder my breath to read them lol |

I think it's really wrong if people have a dig at someone's spelling on here.
I don't think it's bad if it's mentioned in a constructive, supportive way when people ask for profile advice though. Many times, the way the profile is written has made it really difficult to form a proper impression of the person and is possibly a factor in not getting replies. I've always stated there may be good reasons
That's not to criticise dyslexic folks - I spent nearly twenty years supporting them. I saw adults in tears many times when finally diagnosed. Sadly, I came across quite a lot of people who passed themselves off as dyslexic in that time too.
I'm a bit of a Nazi myself - for some of us words and language were our working tools, in the same way a builder uses bricks and mortar, or a chef uses ingredients. If a dedicated builder saw a badly built wall, I'm sure he/she would notice or comment - it's natural. I'd hope they'd make a distinction between poor, lazy workmanship and someone who had genuine reasons for not being able to build a "proper" wall though. |

Well given the site is for meeting people via written communication it is important for securing meets.
For the op a rather labbour intensive solution to your problem is either in your pc or phones spell checker you can set up auro replace for custom words.
So you can write out all the common words how you currently/normally spell them and then enter in the correct spelling
That way the spell checker will work for you despite your spelling being too innacurate for it normally.
Obviously you can't do it for everything but even the simple common words such as
there
Where
was
them
Etc would massively improve the readability and message success |

My kid brother went through school, a private one too, being told everyday that he was as thick as mince because he wasn't as bright as his two elder brothers. In his last year he was spotted by a progressive teacher who thought he might have Dyslexia. It was too late by then and my kid brother left school barely able to read and write and never having read a book.
It turns out that my brilliantly clever brother had realised that he could never read like his brothers so had memorised how words looked in order to get through school and into his first career.
If it wasn't for some excellent training he would be consigned to menial tasks.
Nowadays he is studying for a degree in the medical world and due to his great memory training as a kid, learning words, has a head like a hard drive; he reads it and can recall it verbatim. I am really proud if him and love him to bits; he is my absolute hero and when I grow up I want to be just like him. He is the cleverest bloke I know.
Words on a page and the ablility to read and write then does not define you. |

Not all words, I think I see variation. Of course that might be typo's! In general, wouldn't you expect someone typing phonetically to come up with the same result, though - after all, we say things the same way every time? |

I'm dsylexic myself it's taken me a long time to re-train my brain to spell correctly, but i have to take my time as I am only human and I do still make mistakes, if I'm rushing so unfocused and it's worst when I'm tired. I sometimes find _eesides posts far easier to read than those spelt correctly |

Every other person on here is dyslexic, along with most couples being bi...it's a Fab phenomenon!
I don't find the op's post difficult to read as I learnt shorthand phonetically. It would never cross my mind to pull someone up on their spelling but I would use it as a filter, not because I think they're thick, but because I engage through the written word: text speech etc doesn't work for me. |

Dyslexia is the most common of all language disabilities around 80% of the population is effected by some form of it so surely with a statistic like that, you'd expect a high number of fab members to suffer from it? |

Very true. What the profiles need is a box that needs ticking if one of your interests is publicly knocking people down at every opportunity. I wonder if the same people when going on a date take a pencil and a bit of paper to give a potential shag a spelling test? |

I always thought the purpose of writing a message was for communication. As long as people can understand your message that is all that matters. Carry on sending or posting them and forget people who are so up themselves that how a message is spelt is more important than what the message says! |

"I think it's just annoying when it looks like someone went out of the way to spell it wrong like reed instead of read or text speak.
Well if you care to take the time to "READ!" the thread, you will find that OP is Dyslexic! It's not done intentionally to annoy... "
There's a large proportion of people that are just not many will openly declare it like myself, _eeside and bladey so I sometimes think it's other people really need to think before they type |

"For me( spell check nazi here) I can read your spelling and grammer and knowing you're dyslexic have no problems at all with it. As said earlier you write the way things sound which actually is great as it makes it easy to understand. My Nazi stuff is for the lazy sods who just plain can't be bothered.
Nothing worse than " how r u" as opposed to "how are you". For the non dyslexics it's just pure lazy! "
Spell Nazi? But you spell grammer instead of grammar
You don't use comma's, also is not correct to use in the same sentence and and! Says my teacher!
I am only foreign learning! Everybody is different and some people can't spell ! I don't care with out but if you give yourself a title live up to it! |

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
"It's siad taht if you put the fisrt and lsat letetrs of wodrs in the corerct oredr, tehy sitll can be raed and unedrsotod
Very true.
Also. I understand everything the Op has ever posted. And we all can probably figure out everyone's intended posts if we read between the lines.
Some people like to stand on high though. It gives them a sense of stature.
"I can spell better than you". That kinda thing.
Einstein was a Genius. He never dwelled on his dyslexia. He also never said 'I'm better than you' "
I'm pretty good at parsing even the most byzantine spelling and grammar, but I have seen some posts on here I've just not managed to work out. |
