Hardships often prepare ordinary men for an extraordinary destiny.
A quote from CS Lewis that helped me on my journey.
A few people I've been lucky enough to meet recently have reminded me of this and the struggles I faced in my life.
Are there any quotes you have found solace in? |

I love Maya Angelou's quote:
"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style"
My mantra. |

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
"We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." |

A few got me through the years
The only disability in life is a bad attitude. Scott Hamilton
Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. Thomas Edison
And I love Oprah Winfrey
Turn your wounds into wisdom.
Be thankful for what you have, you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never ever have enough.
Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another steppingstone to greatness.
Just a few for you all xx

I think the author is unknown but there are variations of it on Google. |

Here are a few that have helped me in the past:
"If Britney Spears made it through 2007, I can make it through today."
"May you have double of everything you wish for anyone else."
and, of course:
"Keep calm and carry on"

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”
John Lennon.
Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the World.

I know that your own past sufferings may have destroyed you. But don’t love her just so she can carry your emotional baggage with you. Don’t love her if you only want her to fix you. Know that she will, with time, without you even knowing.
Her love and existence will heal every part of you. But if you are with her solely to fill the emptiness inside you, she will know—and it will destroy her.
from an article called 'If you love her, don't destroy her.' |

I don’t want to be human. I want to see gamma rays, I want to hear X-rays, and I want to smell dark matter. Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can’t even express these things properly, because I have to—I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid, limiting spoken language, but I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws, and feel the solar wind of a supernova flowing over me. I’m a machine, and I can know much more.

"If you don't know whether you want a fart or a shit, have a shit....
My dad "
I'd change this a bit to:
If you don't know whether you want a fart or a shit, at least make sure you're on a toilet when you find out
Mine is 'life's too short for bullshit and crumbs'. Too many people full of bullshit and offering only crumbs in my experience |

I've found "Life begins, at the end of your comfort zone" - has helped me do a lot more interesting stuff.
Also like: “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely, in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” (Hunter S Thompson)

"Not stricktly a quote...Action and reaction are equal and opposite.
"
If this is a reference to Newtons third law, it is a common misrepresentation, error, misquote etc
Newton's third law actually states that if body 'A' exerts a force on body 'B' then body 'B' will exert an equal and opposite force on body 'B'.
This is often mistakenly translated to 'every action has an equal and opposite reaction'

Personally I prefer the wonderful Confucius.
Confucius say 'Man who walk through turnstile sideways going to Bangkok'
Confucius say 'Virginity like bubble. One prick, all gone'
Confucius say 'It take many nail to build crib, but one screw to fill it'
Confucius say 'Man with tool in woman's mouth not necessarily dentist'
Confucius say 'Man who stand on toilet, high on pot'

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me. |
