Who wants to do one?

Used to do them on my old fitness forum, you take a full body picture holding a newspaper from the day you start on, then can post one at the end.

Can write your meal plans and routines.

Can encourage and motivate each other. People can copy your meal plan and routine of they're not sure how to go about it.

I'm gonna start next Monday (9th) need this week to ease back into work and back to school for my child.

I'm looking to do a massive cut!

I'm looking to start training and lifting weights for the summer. I'll consider doing it if you like?

I'm planning to shift some flab over the next month or two myself. Count me in. I probably won't be doing the newspaper thing - I don't buy newspapers, but I'll be taking progress photos.

Cut out pastry and bread to start with.

If you want to lose weight, my cousin and his wife have lost 7 stone between them since last August by her going to slimming world. They do a recipie book called Fakaways. I've had a couple of meals from it. It's brilliant.

I'm grazing atm have been for ages and I'm not sure why. It could be cos of my fibro or could it be cos I'm taking vitamins...I'm feeling quite healthy although I'm not. Just got no interest in food anymore I have to make myself eat. Think for me it's my fibro tbh I'm putting a Tesco shop in tomorrow so think I'll add lots of pre veg n fruit to graze on. I'm not interested in losing weight I just want to be as healthy as my body can be. Does that make sense? Xxx

"I have no idea what to eat that tastes good but is healthy. Food is my absolute downfall"

I love food as well, that's why I'm easing into this next week to get all my supplies in. I've eaten like a beast the last year and I weigh almost the same as I did the morning I gave birth over 7 years ago!

First easy things I'm trying to do is stopping my cups of tea cos I drink loads and have 2 sugars each time. I'm drinking peppermint tea and having a camomile tea an hour before bed.

Some easy (ish) things we can all do as novices is understand that it's sugar that makes us fat not fat. Don't drink fizzy pops or juices or squashes, it's pointless consuming those calories just for a drink, keep your calories for food, just drink water, can infuse the water with fresh lemon slices or lime for a bit of taste.

DON'T use slim fast, it's loaded with sugar. Sugar is a cunt, get in the mindset that sugar is an absolute wanker that we don't need in our lives.

Now for the harder part. Actually finding meals and food that is healthy and fulfilling. You can't, nothing's as nice as eating shit but if you eat shit you're gonna look shit unless you can spend 6 hours a day in a gym. Treats and things will come later when we've tea he the stage where people you know can comment and visibly see your weight loss.

What we could do (by we I mean the camp that want to lose weight) we could do our own version of slim fast but instead of buying slim fast shakes we replace it with casein whey protein. Drink a shake each morning and early evening and it *should* act as an appetite suppressor (it's meant to be taken at night by bodybuilders that need the extra protein and nutrients as they sleep)

I'm going for quite a strict cut cos I've got fat as fuck and none of my clothes fit me (I know I'm not fat to look at but I was size 6 before so I feel fat in my body and have muffin top)

I'm also gonna do 6 days healthy and have one cheat day on a Sunday cos I need a Sunday toast with all the trimmings. Not gonna go mental on the cheat day, just a few Yorkshire puddings and loads of roast potatoes.

Training and exercise, what's everyone's knowledge, they gonna train at home, do classes, gym, full body/split routines? What sort of plans would be easier for everyone?

I know it's stupid but we can all use the forums more like in the evenings when you're just kicking back watching emmerdale. I eat sometimes out of boredom so if we just talk and keep our hands busy and if one us wants to eat 4 packs of steak mcCoys we can say to each other nah don't do it, summer will be here before we know it. Just encouragement and motivation for each other will help I think.

Better to get the meal prep done first and ease into the gym around February time. I'm not starting in the gym for at least another 3 weeks and I work in one with free membership so I have no excuse. Gonna do lots of long walks first and get used to healthy eating again. When you do go in the gym and see exactly how much you have to do on the cross trainer to burn off the calories in one finger of kit kat that can help you psychologically not want to eat shit. I love eating crap, I've got used to it, I dipped a whole Terry's chocolate orange in a cuppa tea yesterday then wonder why I look shit before I go to bed and see my naked body in my full length mirror. Nah like I ain't carrying this body anymore. I've got fake tits that will always retain their size and they don't even look big anymore cos I'm 3 dress sizes bigger than when I had them done 9 years ago!

So is everyone gonna start a week Monday?

On my old forum we had a subsection for journals.

Maybe a good idea if everyone taking part starts a thread for their own personal log.

Can write your meal prep and routines, say what you've done each day and ask for advice if you want it.

Sort out your larders first.

Brown rice and pasta. Tinned tomatoes or passata with no added sugar. Tuna. Dried beans and pulses. Herbs and spices. Onions and garlic.

Twice a week I shop for lean meat, salad, veg and fruit.

If you have something you can prepare quickly for a snack, like Ryvita type crisp breads with salad, you won't want crisps or biscuits.

You've got this boxed off. You're already miles ahead of the new year resolution crowd as you know about diet and calories in vs calories out etc.

Why are you waiting 3 weeks to get back to the gym? I'd recommend just biting the bullet and starting the gym now. You'll see results almost immediately and this will motivate you to keep pushing on.

I'll keep an eye on this thread and you know where I am if you need any advice.

We had a while with no carbs but I don't want to rely on protein for my energy. My body doesn't work on protein and fat diets. I do a lot of walking and get tired too quickly. Those of you of you looking to loose body fat you may want to invest in a body fat / mass measurer. I got one from Amazon, it's great for monitoring your progress

Whatever works for you - the only thing that works for me to lose weight is zero carbs - and I dance all night, swim non-stop and ride. The less carbs I eat, the more energy I have. There may be others who will find the same.

Yes, good idea. When I was using my fitbit I discovered that on days when I only did the horses, and didn't swim or dance AS WELL, in order to get the 1000 calorie deficit I needed to lose weight I had to stick to lean meat or fish too.

I recommend lifestyle change in small steps not 12 week challenges xx

Sugar is the devil treat her as you would cocaine

On average depending upon start weight only aim to loose one pound a week

The first weeks will always be more due to the carb and water relationship

Bear in mind as you lose weight you will need to eat proportionately less

Weights are for everyone

You can add muscle and lose fat but the life style is very strict

Protein is your friend

Protein muffins taste yummy

High intensity interval training is your friend xx

Stay happy xxx the low sugar crash does not last long

Coconut oil is your friend xx

Stay well all xx

Start a week Monday (9th)

everyone create their own thread, just call it your username and journal. You can write your own stuff in your journal to keep a log, write your starting stats and then use it to write meals for that day and what training you've done etc. We can all read each other's journals. Pictures you can add one full body to start (if you want to put it public you can) I'm not gonna make mine public till the end when I can show the before and after!

"What we could do (by we I mean the camp that want to lose weight) we could do our own version of slim fast but instead of buying slim fast shakes we replace it with casein whey protein. Drink a shake each morning and early evening and it *should* act as an appetite suppressor (it's meant to be taken at night by bodybuilders that need the extra protein and nutrients as they sleep)"

The Protein Works do a good line of meal replacement shakes. They have worked for me in the past and they taste pretty good, too! If anyone wants a referral code to get freebies with their first order, feel free to PM me.

"Training and exercise, what's everyone's knowledge, they gonna train at home, do classes, gym, full body/split routines? What sort of plans would be easier for everyone?"

I'm looking forward to getting back on my bike. Cycling into work five days a week and hitting the gym at least three times should do the trick. I'm thinking of slotting a swim into the in-between days, but I don't want to do too much at once and put myself off.

Don't over think things, there's no magic supplement or diet needed.

Simply eat less, and move more. You're aiming for a calorific deficit. You're either in one or you're not. So if cutting out carbs or swapping fish for meat gets you in a deficit then stick with that.

Try and do things whilst standing instead of sitting and get yourself a step counter. Aim for 10k steps a day.

This on top of training hard will work and is quite a simple way to lose weight.

I said simple not easy....it's never easy and nor should it be.

Enjoy

As northern lad said keep it simple.

I am looking at waist and weight.

Waist up and weight up = not good

Waist static and weight up = ok

Waist smaller and weight up = muscle.

I know, cos of nudity and sexual content!

Anyway I'm quite proud of myself tonight. I'm about to retire to bed and I resisted eating any of my daughters Terry's chocolate orange which she'd opened and left on the coffee table. Seriously I've been stating at it most the night!

I've d*unk 3 cups of hot water with fresh lemon juice. Must've d*unk 3 litres of water. Tin of mackerel in evoo, drained and patted dry with kitchen roll for breakfast and one for supper. Had 2 turkey steaks grilled on my george foreman, carrots, mangetout and green beans for late lunch, and snacked on a celery stick and 5 seafood sticks.

Having 2 poops a day (sorry) it's the psyllium husk and bentonite clay combo doing the detox!

Well after only 2 days on my fasting diet ( eat nothing all day but drink water and fruit tea, have an apple and 25g of cheese when my energy dips mid afternoon then meat/fish and veg/salad and a fruit based dessert for tea.. taking care not to exceed 800 calories)

I weighed myself this morning and I have lost 6lbs

are you fasting though? 800 calories (depending on how physical you are on a daily basis) isn't a lot for a man to consume.

visiting the beach

A bit late to jump on the bandwagon, but add me on.

I am "mostly" vegetarian (odd bit of fish, and can't resist chorizo!), so my diet isn't too bad. However, I do tend to fill in the gaps with nibbly crap (crisps, nuts etc.).

When I stop that (or reduce it), and up the exercise (running, hate the gym), the weight starts to go. But it's getting over that bump-start that I struggle with...!
