Hello again.... so are you still up for meeting?

I must first make clear this is not a moan.

Scenario:

Someone messages you for the first time and you have a quick chat. Nothing too in-depth, but just enough to establish you are both interested in finding out more. One/both of you log off . A few weeks/month or so pass by and the same person sends you a message, this time taking the conversation a step further.

My question is….. when this type of scenario happens, am I alone in not being able to remember who the fuck they are ?

It seems to offend a few people when I explain I can’t remember the initial conversation and we’ll have to start from scratch. I may well remember their face pic and profile, but that’s about it.

Do you remember every person you start chatting to and what you chatted about?

Is it just me or do other people find it hard to just pick up where they left off if the continuity of the conversation has been broken?

No, your not alone, but to be honest, if we were that interested we would have kept one of their messages to refer to.

I will possibly remember the face and profile

I probably won't remember the conversations though,I think that if I wanted to meet them last time round we would have kept in touch and if we hav'nt then they did'nt really blow my mind that much and ill wonder wtf we had chatted about the first time round

We don't get many "cold calls" so I can remember most, if not all of our prospective meets as long as there are some positive vibes in our messages back and forth.

I can well understand you ladies not keeping track though, with the amount of mail some of you have to wade through

As has already been said some of you ladies/couples are inundated with messages so it may be difficult for you to keep track of every one you chat to. If the initial conversation went well and there seemed 'the potential for more', however, then I you might retain the message thread for future reference and not delete them...if your inbox is bulging, however, then you may prefer to delete!

It actually doesn't take many other conversations on the go before their last message drops off the page. If you are chatting to a friend all day, you can soon fill the viewable messages.

If I'd known in advance it was going to be weeks before they messaged again I'd know to save their last message, but it doesn't work like that does it.

If you dont delete every day or so the messages go onto the next page anyways, and then you cant see them and so you still forget...

I tend to remember most of the people who I actually have had an exchange with but then as a single man on here they tend to be few and far between so they do stick in the mind and usually the reason I have messaged in the first place is because I found that person interesting and attractive.

I received an email - went in my inbox not junk so a contact - from someone asking how the new job was going! Even asked if my mobile number was the same and quoted it. When I said I couldn't recall him he sent an email full of .

Apparently we'd also met! He named the restaurant, remembered I drank rioja and liked my steak rare and STILL I haven't a clue who he is!

That's why I never played with him: not memorable, but I wish I could place him, as poor sod is devastated after a month I still couldn't tell him from a hole in the wall!

I get this quite frequently in the chatroom I chat to so many people, and I'm afraid I only remember the 5% of converstaions that are really exceptional. And I'm afraid when I get the 'are you still interested in meeting' comment from someone I don't even remember chatting to..... I think there is a good chance that they're 'trying it on' (i.e. trying to push me into a meet by pretending that I've promised them a meet in the past)

No.

I keep file on each and every person I have ever messaged or talked to, this is cross reference in an index card system that allows me to remember any conversation or even remarks made on the forums.

This elegant and beautifully simple system is foolproof and utterly invaluable to me.

...er... does anyone know where I've put it though?

in the night garden

My memory is piss poor, no it's worse than that actually, so I can never remember conversations from randomers, I do sometimes remember profile pics.

Generally I only speak to people on my friends list that means the whole of my message page could be full of just that convo with that person that day. At the end of the day I usually press 'delete all read'.

In theory I could be talking to the same randomers who PM me every week and I wouldn't realise.

Anybody seen the film Memento? That's me that is.

No chance for my memory...we get a fair bit of mail so at times I have to say remind me who you are, which doesn't go down well

Thank god for site supporters where you can see on their profile wether you have previously mailed them or not.

That is helpful, but I can never remember if the indicated correspondence ended as a 'no thanks, you're a bit creepy and weird' or 'wow! what a sexy bum, we'll be in touch soon big boy' so it's use is somewhat limited.

Fuck me I thought I was anal!!

No... I rarely remember people unless they've made a proper impression. I have a terrible memory which actually I shouldn't really advertise... it's not the first time I've had a chancer saying 'oh we talked a few months ago blah blah blah'

With a lot of things my memory is like a sieve...however I usually do remember discussions of a sexual nature. Perhaps because they're very pleasant to recall?

For instance I am now thinking of a photoshoot in which I am slightly sub, one planned picture in particular had me oiled and lying on the floor with a woman's high-heeled foot placed firmly on my bare chest....

A discussion with one particular poster above me in this thread, but she will hopefully know who she is, as I'm not kissing and telling!

Must admit I actually have a very good memory for conversations on here and other sites, there do seem to be a lot of chancers who will message and say we have chatted before though, asked one the other day if it worked and he said yes fairly often!
