Heya ladies - i know this was done at the time of the Jade Goodie thread but i cant find it.
I was one of these ladies who had put off her smear test - inadvertantly - one of those things that went on the list of "tomorrows" jobs.
Well after that thread that led us ALL (i hope) to go get our smears, i had my results today and needs to go have a Colposcopy (sounds horrendous).
So, i was just wanting to make sure that all the other women on here DID go get their smears done.
And if not - go do it today.

I had a colposcopy earlier this year to check out some abnormal cells, its fine babes and I got to see my cervix on screen...how cool is that lol
Have to have my next smear in september at the hospital to keep an eye on things, but ladies its not a bad experience, half of us flash our fannies to all and sundry round here so go get em done girl and stay healthy xxx

On a serious note I think it’s a valid point. It is a little embarrassing going for a check up but so many people avoid it. I hope all goes well for you and I hope others take your posting on board and do the same.

and dont forget to check your boobs girls and boys keep an eye on those balls (sorry bawls ) too, there are links on the web on how to check yourself for lumps and bumps, well worth looking up and if you dont feel like doing it yourself get a friend to do it  makes it more fun.

Can i volunteer my services to any woman who wants her lumps and bumps felt or squidgy areas examined ...i can get a white coat and stethoscope if required and speak in a soothing and calm voice as i fiddle about ...!!!
for that real authenticity i will of course send you an invoice for private professional medical fees ...afterwards
if your partner is to be presesnt i can provide a nurse is tiny white uniform to catch him as he faints and then to administer mouth to cock ...err mouth recusitation ...

I had the procedure about a year and a half ago, its nothing to worry about even though it sounds bad, hope you are ok x |

Speaking as someone who has had Cervical Cancer....... and thank got they caught it in time.......
FFS.... go get checked.
It's worth having a metal/plastic thingy shoved up ya bits (hahahahha) so that if there is anything, they can catch it quickly! |

i had smear and had to have the col... thing, i needed to have leetz treatment as well, and to be honest none of it was that bad at all. well worth gettin it done cos its harmless |

im due my smear now but as im off to turkey 2nite i will make an appt when i get home, i get my smear every 3 yrs and have done since i was 20, not the most pleasant thing but it only takes 2mins and could save your life!!
so all you woman get smears done!!! |

yep i check my moles i dont have alot but a couple, working in a hospital you see alot of new patients with skin cancer alot of them young people due to using sunbeds etc!!!
i had a mole cut out about 7yrs ago and i was a sunbed/sun worshipper!!
i now use tan out of a bottle!!!!

well this is to all out there that dont

as you can see from are profile we are not swinging at the moment
my wife put off going and now has cervical cancer
she went to the docs because she was getting blood after sex (the doc take the pill and see how it go's)
six weeks later felling so ill went back doc sent her to A&E she had lost 4 pints of blood and was close to dyeing
now 16 weeks later she had 5 days a week Radiotherapy 1day a week Chemotherapy and 2 days with radiorods
in her and is very ill now (we are just hopping for the best now when we go back next week)
we have 2 boys 16 and 18 and she is only 35
so have a hard think about it we its time to go because its your life

I have to book my smear today and although I have a smear every year, I always put it off for a month or so..... I won't be doing that this time.

I recently had a procedure done by a realy hot gynaecologist, I could even appreciate him when he raised the bed up so that he was eye level with my bits - most odd! |

ok heres me on a serious note. first of all sorry to the people further up the thread who are going thru so much.
but yeah check your moles, they are a more deadly than what you think. my only sibling had one on her hand in 95 when 8 months pregnant. malignant melanoma. removed it and gave her the all clear after 5 years. in may 06 she collapsed in work, they found it had been lying dormant on her liver all that time from the wart. by august she was dead and she left children of 10 and 14 at the time.
so this is one subject you will find the serious side of pussy

All i can say on the subject is never have the attitude it will never happen to you......go regularly to docs for the check ups, dont put it off.....and do regular checks on your own body and thats males and females. Anything you see that you are concerned about get it checked. It can happen to anyone, any age, any time !!!!
Last week we sadly lost a close family member to cancer then last weekend we were told that another very close family member has been given a few days to live with Lukemia, we have watched both have a very hard battle.
Last years my Mum won a battle against breast cancer....it was picked up thru a routine scan and she had no idea, no signs nothing that she had the cancer. Within 6 weeks she had a mastectomy and her lynphnodes removed then started an intensive course of chemo. if she hadnt gone fo her routine scan she wouldnt be here today...
It is so extremely important to regularly go for scans.....they save many lifes. |

I myself was clear this time, andhave to go again in 6months for a re-check.

Listen to what your body is telling you ...
For just over a year I went back and forth to GP with breast problem, each time given antibiotics and on one visit told to buy a support bra for the discomfort I was feeling.
On one visit to my GP the doctor had been called away , I was seen by a nurse who examined me and made an urgent appointment for next day to see a locum doctor at my surgery, outcome was I was reffered and breast cancer diagnosed.
Go with your womans intuition....we are very rarely wrong x |

Bloody hell I am all doom and gloom tonight but a warning to all those that ignore smear reminders....I did.. I went 18 months late and was screened with a result of CN3 had wire loop biopsy now have a yearly smears, I was one of the lucky ones, I often wonder WHAT IF ??

Think now that more people are becomming more aware - its only a good thing.
Tho the Jade Goody thing really swamped the nhs -= what normally takes only 4 weeks my results took about 3 months!!!
But at least alot of people did go out there. Including me who was 18 months overdue.

I finally had my repeat smear today, very irresponsible to leave it so long but its now done.
It took all of 2 mins to get it done, so come on anybody who keeps putting it off, book to get it done today! x |

oh that reminds me i will really have to get mine done. actually went back in january and the nurse couldnt find my cervix to get the swab. she had me in more sexual positions than i had been in for a while (may i add this was pre patrick, as he just read this as i was typing and said it wasnt very flattering to him). was supposed to have gone back 4 weeks later and never did.

i got a letter this mornib telling me to go have my updated smear after i had my treatment, cos i fell preg and had baby i had not had thsmear to check thy got it all, best call them i guess |
