What i really want is a little cottage with all i need in the middle of nowhere .

Stayed there just after new year. There are a few cabins around it, so not total isolation. But the scenery around there is beautiful. Plus you get your own hot-tub |

A few years back a group of us hired a little cabin in meribel in france for christmas and new year. Bit of skiing, lots of wine, good company and beautiful scenery. Plus because it was in france, the commercial christmas farce didn't become a factor.
It was a bit pricey but well worth it. |
