I saw this the other day - now I am not judgemental of anybody wanting and having kids even if they are struggling financially.. however, there has got to be a cut off point. This does seem a bit like taking advantage of the overall very generous British welfare system.

No rent to pay

over £800 per week in benefits

Breakfast delivered (and included in their rent)

She has a bad back but can shag and give birth to 10 children.

They've been rehoused instead where, in reality, the kids should be taken away from them if they are living in squalor, sleeping in their own urine and shit.

Whats wrong is that those children will grow up with the same attitude as their parents and seeing no wrong in destroying property, living in filth and not working for a living....

There was a family top of my road.

He only ever did backhanders/money in hand jobs....

she never worked a day in her life.

The house was a shit tip and the kids slept on mattresses on the floor.

Xmas shopping was one trolly for food and one for booze and fags.

He also had a car etc to take them here and there and they all had a holiday paid for by the social services each year.

When they left...

She was about to give birth to her 14th child.

THATs scroungers for ya.

quite agree with that, i dont want to be in a 1984 situation as i said on the motorbike thread however if people have no respect for themselves or others there has to be some way of stopping it

I believe those of us who have yet to claim a penny from the state should be given some kind of award when they retire, for supporting everyone else!

They should do as the yanks do...

YES...they help if someone is unfortunate to get pregnant.

But if said person then has another...the money goes down and not up.

people today are not bought up with a work ethic.

They are not bought up with any ethics what so ever

And the tax payer keeps on paying

i babysat for a family like this when i was younger.

i remember times when mom used to gorge herself on amazing meals, where the kids were all sharing a tin of baked beans.

one night, i went to babysit and the parents went out. there was screaming in the bedroom and i went to see to the kids, but the bedroom door was locked. i didnt have a clue how to deal with this at that age, they never had a phone, i had no way of contacting them.

i sat at the downstairs window waiting to flag down a passer by, it was a neighbour. he burst down the door of the bedroom, the walls were covered in excrement and three kids were in there on one soaking wet, filthy matress...not what you would expect given the condition of the rest of the house, which was immacualte.

one child was burning a fever and uncocious and her two sisters were in total fear and despair.

yet the parents thought it would be ok to leave them with a 13yr old.

this couple seemed outwardly to have everything, even though they were both unemployed. they had 3 children die and bore 7 in total.

the dad did a stretch in prison eventually, for torturing and mutillating kittens.

apparently, it's ok to o that to kids though.

i don't know what happened to the other children.

i dont judge unemployed parents, but there are those that have children with one purpose only, to cream as much as possible from the state...the children are an extra income and they have no love for them. i wish it was as simple as just removing them from the family sometimes

I have no problem in people having as many children as they wish. But I think the state should be able to set a limit on how many children qualify towards benefits.

Personally, I'd set the 'limit' to 2. If parents want more than that - they should be prepared to support them by their own efforts. And whilst I'm recognise that some first-time parents have multiple children in one pregnancy - I see no reason why this should change the amount of support offered by the state. i.e. you and me.

I would not give anyone extra benefit after 4 children. After 3 its sterilisation for one partner or be aware handouts stop. I work hard for my money and pay my taxes and would rather it go to the old than the work shy.

No its not in the slightest but no one has more than 4 children by accident. Why on earth should i work to provide for the work shy and feckless baby making machines. I would rather support the elderly who have worked all their life and controbuted to our society in the main.

Well anyone who has spent their life on benefits and are perfectly healthy should hand their head in shame for a start.

After 10 years without working i see no reason of not implementing forced labour on people. Refusal would be a stop in benefits.

A maximum of £100,000 in benefit payout in a lifetime would be more than generous.

Sounds very much like fascism to me and we all know where that particular rocky roads leads to.

No, I'm not accusing you of being a fascist but the _iews you put forward could be misinterpreted as such.

I would resist any attempt by the state to medically limit the amount of children a person can have.

What about thos guys who go around setting up 'franchises' of kids all over the place without a moment's care over what happens to them.?

We will always get scroungers in our society, and all we can do is put up with them. In this particular case I'm still trying to work out why they get such an expensive food allowance and I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation as to why Bath Council have decided that they need it - but you'll never see the Daily Mail publish that reason.

I remember years ago when i lived back in Mansfield there was a family at the end of the street and they had 13 kids, neither of them worked and they had 2 semis that the council had knocked thro to make one big house for them all

I'll never forget one day round at the school the mother was talking to her mate and she said that she was planning on having another child soon as her eldest was leaving school so she'd loose the money for him

Im sorry but you can take the piss

why should i work 2 job to keep my 3 kids when people like that just keep popping them out and live of our taxes?

We decided we could only afford three children and I wanted to be sterilised after the third but the doctors refused because (a) I was 29 and (b) my son was born prematurely by Caesarian section.

As it happened my son died eight weeks later. Two years later, as my daughter was going to be delivered by Caesarian Section I demanded to be sterilised as I wasn't going to go through another pregnancy.

I made a decision to limit my family. My ex-husband and I worked to support our children, at one point he worked nights to be home to take and pick up the girls from school, cook their dinner and bathed them. We had about 10 minutes together in the evening between me coming home from work and him going.

Not a penny in benefit ever came into our house, our family, our responsibility.

It gets my goat people who have children but are unable to raise them without my support! I've limited mine but paying for scroungers?!!

I don't subsribe to the _iew that my money should go automatically to old people.

If you get to pension age and can't manage, what were you doing with your money? Oh...not working hence no savings can't survive on the State pension ergo more money out of my pocket!

Sad thing is these 10 children will probably end up parasites like their parents!

bugger it im in a rant mood today not my usual socialist principles one!

why the hell should we the tax payer pay for them??

contraception is free and easily available yes everyone has the right to have children and yes accidents happen im living proof so is my daighter but really one is an accident 2 is careless anymore than 3 then you really need to have a word with yourself!

too many people think its thier god given right to fire out children willy nilly and the rest of us left to pay for them and rear them!

supporting people who genuinely need help i dont mind, supporting people who refuse to work im really gettin sick of! even though the daily mail is an utter pile of crap and not worth the paper its printed on they do seem to be highlighting what is goin in some places of society and im sure there is a reason behind these people spittin out sprogs like a bloody production line.

I think the problem was explained adequately in an earlier post regarding the woman overheard at the school gates crowing about having another child as her eldest was no longer a child and her 'benefit' would be cut.

Unfortunately, these kind of families have no prospects in the workplace and the only thing they are any good at is knowing how to milk the system for as much as they can. They know every trick in the book to obtain the maximum amount of comfort available to them at the expense of anyone willing to foot the bill for it. There is another kind of organism on this planet that function in much the same way: a parasite, and it's about time we stopped calling the money doled out to these people 'benefit' as the only people 'benefiting' are the scroungers themselves.

The old system of workhouses was shame enough to make most encumbents of such places want to get out of them as quickly as possible. I see no reason why we can't re-introduce a 'work house' of sorts for people who just will not get off their bone idle arses and provide for the kids they are determined to produce. They don't have to be the Victorian hell-holes they once were as we know so much more about social care today, but we can make them such a shameful place to be that the prospect of returning to one would probably be enough to ensure that most of the scroungers living off the state at the moment would scare the wits out of them.

We'd prably find they wouldn't produce so many goddam kids either leading to a reduction in so called 'chav crime', less kids in the education system in run down schools that don't have the trouble element trashing them on a daily basis.

The key to change is SHAME.

Shame the lazy buggers into taking responsibility for themselves and the litters they produce.

May I ask you how you feel about the policeman that dragged a woman to a cell and threw her in, bruising her face and causing extensive bleeding.

I mean, giving her a bloody nose should be child's play if we're gonna go down the route of hanging people for milking a system that allows them to milk it.

What a silly thing to say.

i agree with a lot of things you say on these threads , and i think that like me you get irritated when it is suggested you are "racist" "zenophobic" or some other such word that is used to demolish a persons arguement or point

99 percent of us know full well it is a political trickery with words that is used to try smear a person , and take ones mind from what there saying , by conjuring up images of perhaps idi amin standing next to a 30 foot high stack of human sculls acrued during his most recent genocide campaign

so i thought i would just remind you that when you try to associate the word "facism" to something a person has said , it will probably conjur up thoughts of gas chambers , and zircon B

the only problem is that it will only be about 1 percent of the people who read the threads that will be duped , or fooled in this way , and the others will see it for what it is

other contributers on this thread have yet again mentioned the daily mail

they also use this as a kind of smear tactic

i say this to those people

if the daily mail has a story about martians living in brighton , and they are walking round with 2 heads then by all means criticise them

but when they print a story that has been thoroughly investigated , and has also apeared on say sky news , let it go

because by jumping up and saying HA HA HA DAILY MAIL ................

you are just the same as the ones that say , racist , facist , zenaphope , and you just end up looking a right plonker

i have posted very simmialar threads to this one regarding scroungers , and because the story was about people of "colour" was openly accused of being racist

WHERE ARE THOSE PEOPLE NOW REGARDING THIS THREAD ?

because the family in question are "white" they are all hiding under a stone

anyway .......... my thoughts on these type of "scroungers" for thats what they are

well its not an easy problem to broach

i would have to couple my comments with the fact the planet is overflowing with human beings ........ human beings that are breeding like a plauge of rats ( and with 3 kids i include myself )

not only that they ( we ) are polluting it with filth by cutting all the trees down burning fossil fuels , and filling the sea and land with shit

one day someone will have to make a decition , perhaps something along the lines of the one made in china where procriation is extreemly limited

i sincerly think the time has come where we must consider forced sterilisation of both men and women who have had there quoter or say 2 kids

and ESPECIALLY in the case of those that live on fecking benefits !

there should also be a financial reward for any young man or woman who agrees to be sterilised , a bit like selling your blood in the usa

it might seem a really really shocking and heavy handed aproach

but it will seem even more shocking to hear of thousands killed in food riots etc

shocking of not , it will happen one day THATS GARUANTEED

why not do it now before the planets totaly fucked ?

I think this thread has gone onto two different topics here

People milking the system

and Parents who dont look after their kids

The two dont always go hand in hand, there are many unemployed parents that look after their children and many appalling working parents

i think we are just sterio typing all unemployed parents here

I don't agree with capital punishment under any circumstances. You'd think that in the 21st Century mankind has evolved enough to not have to resort to state-endorsed murder.

Far better to lock someone away for the rest of their natural life with only a 3-barred window for a glimpse of the world they will never again be a part of. Yes, much better than sending them to oblivion where they'll feel no guilt or remorse.

It doesn't matter a jot what went on before the cctv we've seen.

The polis was in a position of professional responsibity for the woman and he blew it big time.

He'll lose his job and his pension and he'll most likely get the jail. It'd be good to think he'll run into some of the people he's captured in the past.

No more than he deserves.

Ahhhh you're all talking about the lesser spotted (actually very spotted) shell suited, bastard collector!

There are loads of them in Sunderland. If you catch it right, usually on a Thursday after they have got their vast welfare cheques around 11am you can see a truly beautiful site in the shopping centre. Herds of bastard collectors with myriad push chairs descend majestically from the bus station and queue to get their cheese pasties from Greggs to pacify their progeny.

There's no more a grounding or beautiful site to see than a mother suckle her young on a cheese & onion pastry. Once the herd has gorged on Greggs produce you will usually see them migrate to Elizabeth Duke in Argos to spend the rest of their welfare on large hollow gold ear rings and sovereign rings.

All you people who would begrudge this true miracle of nature should be ashamed of yourselves. I for one support the diversity of mankind and if indeed we have developed a sub-species of human it's mother nature's choice not ours!!!

Just read a line on another post that say along the lines of, he did it but it's none of my business! Perhaps that is where we have gone wrong?

These days we have all been told that we have to please ourselves and not give a rats arse what others think. Those "others" are constantly berated for critisising someone elses life choices. No wonder people don't feel shame!

How many times have you seen posted on here "Well I don't like it, but that is their choice" or even "I don't give a fuck what anyone else thinks". Everyone should care about what others think! Even if they carry on with their actions.

I don't understand the attitude of many in society that just turn a blind eye to thieving, scrounging (benefits) and many other things. If we all stopped being to "tolerent" then perhaps shame for being a drain on society would return!

if you can't look after them, you shouldn't have them. To some a kid is similar to a widescreen HD telly or any other status symbol.

altho I feel for people whose circumstances change and they find themselves in a temp situation of hardship or as a single parent thro bereavement.

but love costs nothing so the kids should never feel starved of love or affection.

I get the feeling some kids end up being parents to the younger ones. When you get above half a dozen children though questions have to be asked.

"Just read a line on another post that say along the lines of, he did it but it's none of my business!

"

While I think that tolerance for others and their different life styles is really important, I agree with you that there has to be that moment of taking an interest/ caring in somebody else's business when it affects your own life.

There was another article in one of the papers today about this particular family having had to be moved as the "wrecked" the first house.

There is something quite wrong here.

That's a question I often ask. When you see cases of people claiming disability but appear on national televised talent shows dancing, unable to work but running around football pitches as referees etc you wonder how they managed to pull the wool over someones eyes to get their claim passed.

On tv this morning, a man with a terminal illness, motor neuron disease I think, has about a year to live and has now lost the use of his arms - he's been turned down for additional benefits and there's no room to appeal.

Scandalous!

The thing is the media are quick to highlight the tiny minority who abuse the system, but there are many people in the UK that need this help to live their lives on a daily basis.

Problem is these media reports often begin a witch hunt on forums like this, no-one knows what life holds for them, anyone of us could suffer an illness or accident that could put us in the position of relying on these services.

there is animosoty on this thread , but it is not directed in anyway whatsoever to genuine people that are dissabled , one parent , out of work , etc etc etc

it IS directed at those who have 10 kids , or those like i have highlighted in other threads on £2000 a week housing benefit

just because they are in a minority they should not escape the witch hunt

they should not escape being persecuted , and hounded out of existence

are you suggesting that because they are in a minority we should leave them alone ?

if thats the case we should leave terrorists alone as they are in a minority ?

It quite concerns me you see it as a which hunt. Yes people should be concerned as to the amount some can claim but to suggest they should be hounded out of existence is both unpleasant and quite frankly unacceptable attitude.

No we shouldn't accept what is going on but it needs dealing with in the right manner not by mob rules.

Ranting on a forum (Virtual Witch Hunting) is hardly going to reduce the amount of benefit fraud is it?, that is why they have a DWP fraud department, to out the fiddlers.....but in the real world.

Its obvious things need sorting re benefits.

I dont think any government has ever managed it. Though thatcher may have removed all together if she had the chance.

My parents bought us up with a work ethic. They both worked long hours to support 4 of us and did so without any help bar child benefit. Which wasnt alot then.

I started work as soon as i left school.

I unfortunately became a single mom whe i was 24yrs old.

I still worked and have always done so. with the help of family.

My son has always worked and now is successful in the usa.

I remember my grandparents thinking that to get a handout was the worst thing ever and as did my parents.

That mentality of bieng "sole provider" for your family has long since gone with many , along with decent morals and respect.

Don't forget they don't actually get to keep the £2000 per week (assuming that figure if genuine) - it pays their rent. Someone, somewhere is getting that £8,000 per month and I don't imagine it's their local authority.

peaches mentioned work ethic and that is the main point!

we have 3rd generation unemployed/able who have had no influence in being independant and working and in the circle of benefit reliance. those who cant genuinely work are goin to get caught up in this witchhunt not to mention where the hell all these jobs are goin to come from when we have 2.5 million unemployed and rising!

back to the work ethic, i started working when i was 12, my mother worked full time and she was a lone parent, my grandfather was a miner when there were mine jobs i learned if u want somethin work for it! they didnt believe in credit etc or handouts they were the ultimate shame the words aye the on the bru were mentioned in a scandalous way where has our work ethic gone?? x

The work ethic has, largely disappeared.

Without wishing to generalise too much, or berate any particular sectors of society (as everyone has their own particular circumstances) it goes something like this;

If you are talking about people in socio econoimic group C3 and below - i won't use either the phrase "working class" or any of it's derivatives - It is completely normal behaviour for the following to happen;

Girl pays no attention at school, shows no interest, gains no qualifications.

Girl leaves school and understands completely that her employment options are severely hindered by her lack of qualifications.

Girl doesnt fancy 12 hour shifts at the local chicken plant for minimum wage (can't blame her for that).

Girl has casual sex with youth who is utterly feckless.

Neither party bother with contraception, despite both parties being fully aware of it's existance, availability and usefulness in preventing pregnany.

Girl gets pregnant.

Feckless youth springs into full feckless youth mode, and legs it, post haste.

Girl has baby, pitches up at council offices, grabs benefit book and keys for council house.

Hey presto, set for life.

And in her situation, would YOU do anything difeerent? I'm not sure i would.

I'm not having a go at thr girls in particular, and i'm painting a picture, not stating irrefutable facts (before the Wiki brigade arrive - pasting like a decorator on acid) - i'm just saying that in broad brush stoke terms, that's what happens.

The local council have a duty of care to these people.

But there's no work ethic, no shame, and no incentive for them to do anything differently.

Which is why the problem is intractable.

From personal experience, it seems to me that if you work, pay taxes, have a mortgage etc and then need benefits due to unforseen circumstances, you'll get fuck all. If you've always been on benefits, your parents were on benefits, and you live in a council house etc the money will come rolling in, plus of course, any cash-in-hand work.

The word "entitlement" in these cases used to mean a measure of what you need, now it seems to mean take whatever you can, when you can, and sod everyone else.

I'd have thought the only way you'd get fuck all is if you have savings or income from another source. Are there other circumstances?

No.

Also.

People should be made to sit an exam before being allowed to have kids, with a yearly re_iew and license renewal.

Funny old world we live in that getting a dog is more beuocratic than having a kid.

There is a certain delicious irony that you have to show some combination of skill, aptitude, committment, qualification, experience or suchlike to drive a car, get a job, buy a drink, own a pet etc etc.

But parenthood?

wikipedia is a load o shite cant use it for uni stuff even referencing it!!

socio economic stuff even using it is dodgy as it doesnt take into account the twits that fall pregnant from the upper classes and have no grounds to claim and it does tend to generalise the lower classes a bit.

im reachin the stage that contraception should be compulsary from 14 till 18 as im sick watching them breed and cant everythin held to them. im no sayin that every case of teenage pregnancy is like this or even every lower class pregnancy. i work 12 hr shifts slightly above minimum wage because i have a qualification that i got when i went back to college after havin kid. college was never an oportunity for me when i left school so i took the chance with both hands and now im at uni and still just one child and still lone parent. im fed up hearing folks excuses for dossin in the house on their arses watching jeremy kyle and tryin to flog their stories to take a break! my mum worked 12 hrs niteshift to support me without a green bean from my father .i worked 5 jobs at one point so my sympathy levels for people are at an all time low! u get into that mess you get yourself out of it and realise its your fault no one owes you a living!!

maybe not everyone as lucky as me in regards to childcare but the government pays for registered childcare so thats not an excuse either. x

Why do "benefits and council homes" somehow go together as a matter of fact. ?

You make a very god point.

People DO lump "council" ad "benefits" together - but to be fair, whilst there are home owners who are on benefits, the "single mum, left skool at 15 to have the bairn" brigade rarely make it onto the property ladder - so more ogten than not will live in council houses.

The bigger, and more important point, to me anyway is you're living on your savings.

Which need to get swallowed up before the benefits kick in. Which is a MASSIVE disincentive to save in the first place.

If you'd pissed that money on bling, champagne and oysters, the govt would be dropping a cheque through your door right now.

But you were responsible and took ownership of your life and finances.

So it's back of the queue for you my dear.

"People DO lump "council" ad "benefits" together - but to be fair, whilst there are home owners who are on benefits, the "single mum, left skool at 15 to have the bairn" brigade

that will be the single mom because the dad has done one, continued with his education and impregnated lots of other single moms without being tarnished with the label of "single mom brigade" huh?

Correct.

See my entry above regarding "Feckless Youths".

And at this point i would like to state publicly that millions upon millions of people live in Council Houses and are excellent citizens, employees, parents and people.

PLEASE teel me you can't get an a level in plastecine? PLEASE!"

perhaps you'd also like to poiny out that some of those millions are single moms, and dads, too?

"From personal experience, it seems to me that if you work, pay taxes, have a mortgage etc and then need benefits due to unforseen circumstances, you'll get fuck all.

I know many who now claim benefits who DONT have council homes.

Why do "benefits and council homes" somehow go together as a matter of fact. ?

These days anyone can be in dire straights and lose their homes etc.

Can happen to the best of us.

A home is a home regardless of which sector it belongs too.

I am proud of my home and yes its council though up untill this year...i have always worked and paid into the system.

Im now retired and have earned every penny i get.OR MAY GET ?

Though presently get NOTHING.

Because im living on my savings etc.

Makes me seethe.

"

Found out today that altho i have told them that wanna know im no longer working and may require some help ? My savings wont last for ever...

Apparantly i have to ring them up and say....

Oiiii wheres my money

WTF ???

Why fill in 3 books then to tell them in the first place ?

jeez...someone said it was easy. lmao

"The thing is the media are quick to highlight the tiny minority who abuse the system, but there are many people in the UK that need this help to live their lives on a daily basis.

Ranting on a forum (Virtual Witch Hunting) is hardly going to reduce the amount of benefit fraud is it?, that is why they have a DWP fraud department, to out the fiddlers.....but in the real world."

the DWP rely almost exclusivly on information phoned in by the public

so by ranting in here it is very likely that a few people who read the posts might get on the phone and expose a few or the scroungers you always seem so very keen to support

if they are doing nothing wrong then they have nothing to fear

i do so hope you reply as it will bring the thread back to the top and give it a little bit more oxygen , and advertisment

perhaps we can put in a youtube link that explains how easy it is to phone in annonymosly

I shouldn't think there is a person on here that would back scroungers or benefit cheats, it's how you deal with them in your own head that makes all the difference.

Me losing too much sleep over them won't make one iota of a difference to the problem, getting all stressed out about something you have no control over isn't healthy.

I prefer to worry more about things that directly involve me or mine, I see nothing to gain by getting all irate about things that don't concern me.

As for reporting benefit cheats, is that what this country has become....a nation of curtain twitchers?

Yes.

Tax evasion is seen as giving yourself a sporting chance.

Benefit "cheats" are the new fox-hunters - bugger the rights and wrongs, let's get 'em is basicaly how public opinion divides.

As to the wider moral and philosophical questions surrounding these issues...i couldnt possibly comment.

Are they scroungers?

Well....if the subject is merely glanced at, on the surface, it would be fair to assume that they are.

How about beneath the surface though?

Someone made the valid point that if kids are brought up in filth and poverty...they too when adults would know no better; the cycle would continue....I believe this to be true, in most cases.

We live in a cock eyed country, full of contradictions. A consumer society economy and yet politicians remove vast swathes of us out of that by unemployment and job losses...so less consuming of goods, knock on effect, more job losses.

Those that do have a job still, are stressed beyond belief working all the hours god sends, doing the work of 3 because of cut backs.

Quite frankly, we're ALL being taken for mugs and passing on our frustrations down the line of pecking order. That frustration in my _iew is going the wrong way. Whats clear to me from reading all the above threads on this subject of scroungers is.......you all agree it's wrong. If people are trapped in a cycle of merely surviving, living in filth, popping out new life without thought, it's all because they haven't been shown any other way.

We don't, in this country, promote the values we wish for enough...I'd even go as far as to say....enforce! and I mean literally.

Lay the blame at the door of successive Governments that have allowed the level of poverty and in many cases, eroded the very values it merely now pays lip service to, to exist.

Society will not fix itself....there has to be, now it is so broken....some intervention.

We all agree....this should not be allowed to go on! Politicians take note!

WE WANT OUR SOCIETY FIXING!

Tax evasion is a very risky business and carries the likelihood of a major fine, asset seizure and possibly imprisonment.

Tax avoidance is a completely different matter. Anyone not on PAYE should avail themselves of the services of an accountant who will endeavour to minimise your tax liabity. Perfectly legal.
