When i first started posting in the forum, there was loads of people using it, the topics where great, the comments where just as good but lately it seems that a lot of people have decided not to bother, are they just watching with interest or just decided the forum isn't for them anymore? Only a small minority still posting but how long will it be before the forums don't get used anymore? |

I think the whole bare-bones approach to the forum software doesn't help. People expect certain things from a forum, rightly so, and even the most basic free BBS software gives the basics, whereas FS does not.
While I understand look and feel and software is not the only factor in promoting user-friendliness, it is important. |

people go off.... have a break... come back... and its the same as with anything...
sometimes people just need to recharge the batteries......
I think I would say that some of the old "regs" have gone, but we know the reasons to why.... and I think that new people have replaced them...
I don't think the forums is nearly as "combative" as it was..... and i think people here are supportive as long as 1st posts aren't a moan or a whinge, or use it as a "dumping ground" when they are bored..... |

i still enjoy the forums but you are right, something is missing.
sometimes new posters get shot down in flames (or perhaps feel they are as hey dont get the 'banter' in here) and then they dont want to come back.
Repeat themes get short shrift with regular forum posters when perhaps someone is using it as an 'in' |

I love the exchange of views on subjects, it's great to see the diverse opinions on matters amongst members.
The only thing that does put me off is the habit of a tiny minority who attempt to turn every thread into a farce, it must put some new members off of posting their first thread.

Funnily enough I have spoken to to regular and long standing forumites and we have all said the same.
Looking at the forum statistics, posts are going down. But one thing that is still here is the help and support given though illnes, probs and just general hand holding |

I agree, not best pleased when a thread gets ruined and it would put people off posting new threads just in case it happens with them, specially if the subject is serious. |

It certainly is putting me off!
There are posters I don't agree with but I find their posts interesting and informative. I even like the whining ones as the tongue in cheek comments often get me chuckling - ok, I need to get a life, but the fun is going out of it as most of the threads do get ruined and become farcical.
Oh well, it has been fun! |

ok lets not turn this into a chance to get a pop in at someone.
To the OP.....no..from a mods point of view there is no change.
People still bickering / being bitchy/ making out they are innocent..
People still starting posts and getting shot down just because others have seen the subject before.
Posters turning up just for a whinge/ or complain about mails they recieved.
Then there are people who turn uo to use the forums as they are meant for....a bit of fun.
Maybe if everyone took the same attitude as the "fun" people there would be less angst going on. |

the Hijacking of topics is an interesting one...
I think there is a difference between a topic going off on a different tangent, and a blantant hijack
Have to say that I am not a fan of it... especially with serious topics as i feel is does show a lack of respect...
but sometimes, i think that have to know to help themselves sometimes... that is why I would like an FAQ forum where all the topics we get again and again could be answered.....
sometimes though it comes to newbies and impressions.... if someone comes in with whinge/moan/whinge they are going to be treated differently to hello/nice/nice...... its just the way it is...

A newbie view...
I'm am a more established member of another closely related site. This forum is better by miles. There are more posters, a broader range of threads and in experience some very helpful and intelligent contributors.
The other site is very quiet at the moment, and is often hi-jacked by pisstakers and idiots posting 'fancy a fuck' messages.
If I didn't have such a good feedback rating over there I'd finish over there.
Much prefer spending time over here these days... :o) |

Personally i have found some of the newer people far more aggressive and an edge of resentment from newer users at times. Words like Clique banded round and complaints about threads or moaning about other users. I used to frequent the forums far more but unsavoury behaviour is the thing that puts me off. |

I think there's more people using the forums now, maybe they don't post so much as the few that have left did.
That's forums for you, people join, find them enjoyable and want to put their own stamp on it, when they get to a certain point they can become bored and move on.
I think the forums are generally a better place than when I first joined.
So many newer members are just getting to know each other so it's good to see friendships forming.
There are some decent members have left, But also less than decent, give it time you'll see they've all been replaced by another very similar.
Also, summer is here, so some will be away and many will have children home so wont have the same opportunity to get on here.
Generally, I like the forums. |

Yes I agree with you there Fabio......I think a serious thread although can go off topic and still have a bit of humour and banter in it, once someone hyjacks it for devilment it shows a lack of respect for the other posters. |

I don't think they're dying, I see them as "ever changing" if that makes sense?
Regular posters come and go, peoples interests wane over time. People take time out, or they go away on hols for example, or they start new relationships.
Every now and again someone will pop in and hyjack a thread, or act like a twonk, but thats because it's an open forum, and there's not a lot anyone can do to change that. Best just ignore them, and pasa by their posts.
I like to contribute to both the serious and jokey threads, and I suppose I've been guilty too, of taking a thread "off course", bet most of the regular posters have at some time or other. |

Re : Repeat threads.
Most times i'm on it is the top dozen or so forum threads that are active, seldom more.
How often do "long standing" forum users go below that dozen or so, or even onto the second page. hardly ever.
Are newbies expected to read all previous 1000 threads? Of course not. What might be old hat to some, is untouched territory to others.
Or maybe a train of thought has enetered our heads and we start a thread and type away.
If you've posted before, just pass the latest thread by.
I'll make one additional point though.
In the last week or two, i've noticed a lot less posts with "open aggression" and "threatening" posts on here. |

When we joined we were new to this and just learning our way round the site and the scene. I asked for some advice and was immediately slapped down and told in a rather condescending way to search past posts on the subject. It put me off the forums straight away so I just read them instead without posting.
I post now and again but still find certain people very intimidating. The shy type wouldn't stand a chance on here.
I think sometimes you have to harden a bit to post on here and think that is why some have left. Got fed up with constantly being slagged off.
That said, there are some fantastic people on here and I do enjoy the banter and really get cheered up on bad days so I think it is a case of taking the good with the bad. |

The forums are a great place to meet people from all over the country, and I think it helps give the site a "club" feel.
We have exchanged emails with loads of posters on here and have arranged to meet up with them at various socials.
Posting here has definately increased our circle of friends |

I think they go through phases
Sometimes they bore my tits off so I just read them and don't contribute and sometimes they make me howl with laughter
I agree with what rugby said from a mods point of view
I also think peoples moods depend on how they post,if the general forum has a low mood then no-one stands a chance
If the mood is good I see certain threads that may have been jumped on in a bad way responded to really well
I have noticed though that the second post on a thread can sometimes effect how others post on it too
Oh and im not a fan of blatent hijacking on the serious threads that have no bearing to the subject.........or any subject come to think of it |

Now see I'm the shy type on here or on the phone but face to face I'm not. I think seeing facial expressions and tone when speaking in person helps a lot for me. On here you can't see or here the way someone says something so can be quite intimidating or taken the wrong way. Just the way it came across to me when I first posted. |

netty here. i'm new to forum posting. but not swinging or the chat rooms. I have similar opinion same but my situation is vice-versa . i'm much quieter and also better behaved on here than in person lol. anybody who's actually met me will most definitely agree.
i used to read the forums but never post. it did appear to a forum newbie that everyone here knows everyone personally and is a little intimidating - bit like gate crashing a party on your own. lol. the name pussy posse makes it sounds really clicky even though its not. still unsure of what OP means and ive been on here years. its like morse code or the german enigma sometimes in here. makes it sound like one of those invite only private events where if your face don't fit u dont get asked.
But after i thought about it just posted what i wanted lol dont really care if people dont like me or what i have to say x x |

It strikes me as somewhat odd, that a number of "old time" posters who decry repeated thread topics, mostly by newbies,
themselves either start or add their posts to a repetitive thread known as Good Morning or variations thereof.

I have been a forum lurker since I joined Fab, I dont often post anything, I just enjoy reading. They are some very funny people out there.
But yes I have noticed a change, for my experience, after posting something a little bit ago, and getting a sarky and unhelpful response(and it wasnt someone disagreeing with what I had said), it was just someone being a smart arse, yes does put you off.
But also, I have meet some lovely people, that I would call mates, after reading their posts, I have messaged them, because they seem sane and sorted.
So you take the good with the bad. I will continue lurking, and join in the threads that appeal. |

As a long standing forum poster, i have seen many things, as people say above me, people come and go, pair off, lose interest etc.....
Forum posters are all sorts of people from all walks of life, which makes it interesting from the get go.
There was a time when new forum posters found it exceedingly difficult to post and starting a thread as a newbie was a even more difficult, look back to early last year and you will see for yourselves. Its not like that anymore.
I will however add this, yes repetitive threads get their fair share of criticism, as do cheating threads, bbw threads, well we all know the contentious threads don't we?! But there are a fair amount of watchers out there as im sure you are all aware, i think its great that these said watchers then decide to post.
I will repeat what i said in another thread of a similar vein the other day i do think that there are "wind up" merchants" that only post to do precisely that, and SOME newbie posters seem to have jumped on that bandwagon.
All in all if the forums continue to be nasty n bitchy , people wont post as its simply not worth the hassle.
As HPC have stated previously posters all have bad moods, good moods and it has a bearing on how they post.

Funny how different people perceive things. I stopped posting for about six weeks for various reasons but the main one was because of all the negativity on the forums. This week i started posting again as i found that the forums have returned back to how they where previous to the last few weeks.
I carried on reading the forums even though i wasnt posting. I know a few of the old "regs" have left or not posting as much for various reasons. But like everything in life people move around, some will stay, some will go and new people will come along. I have noticed far more new posters of late. |

I think that the frequency with which people post depends on so many things, including commitments with work, family, social life and time available AFTER the usual chores are done. Sometimes, and I speak for myself only of course, it is simply good fun to just browse, to read and have a giggle at some of the witty banter and then other times, a particular topic sounds inviting and I decide to post.
Occasionally, I enjoy just posting a new topic and see what people make of it, see whether it gets "hijacked" or not... and the hijacking in itself can be just as entertaining to read as some people have stated above.
Overall having participated in the forums for more than a year, it is good to see that the topics and and teh angle from which they are being looked at, do change from time to time. |

Its not always like that just the odd few and only now and again. Sometimes people being life's frustrations with them and have little give in them. Its only occasionally though. Most will be welcoming as many regulars genuinely like fresh input |

We're 'newbies' so our comments may be qualified by that but here's our tuppence worth. Mostly we like to have a laugh which normally involves large amounts of banter with a sprinkling of mickey taking. After all we cheeky, gap toothed scousers However, the boards are so general that you can go from having a laugh on one thread to a serious medical problem on the very next thread to a slanging match on the next. Sometimes the most innocuous sounding threads can turn into a free for all. Some poor bloke posted a sexy story/fantasy and got ripped up for arse paper!!! Whats that all about? Perhaps FAB could take a leaf out of the ARmy Rumour SErvice [ARRSE] forums. They have 'rooms'/sections for specific activities e.g. slagging off [NAAFI Bar], dull, annoying, boring, irrelevant topics [ARRSE Hole] and the Mods can move topics to what they think is the appropriate board/forum. Give it a quick Google and you'll see what we mean. Just a thought....... |

All forums go through cycles. On another longer established swinging forum, the question gets asked from time to time... I first remember it being asked 7 or more years ago... but I believe it is still there. |

"maybe it was just a thought.
Maybe a free for all fighting room! No falls, no submissions no knock outs no mods!
Sounds interseting
I would love to watch. If two peeps weren't getting on they could pop in and scrap with words. Like them there street dancers do
Or "street countdown" style as seen in C$'s the IT crowd a week or so back. If it was members only to watch subscription rates would soar i'll bet. "
ive been slagged of myself in the forums.why do people let it bother them.the phrase, being savaged by a dead sheep, always comes to mind.just keep posting. |

Well in my opinion, despite what I posted earlier and when all is said and done, these forums have provided me with good fun, plenty of laughs, advice, information and friends.
In the last two weeks I have been stuck in the house with two boys with very bad chicken pox, so in a way the forums have given me a window to the outside world for which I am very grateful for.
When you think you are at your lowest, there is always someone on here to lift your spirits with a kind word or two, or a bit of banter and it really cheers you up no matter what sort of day you've had.
I think we'd all soon moan if there suddenly wasn't any forum to post on so I'm grateful for what we have and will ignore the certain idiots who want to spoil it for others.

Thanks Rugby. Must admit, I haven't seen a case of chicken pox this bad. I was very worried at one point but hopefully all over now. Or at least it better be. This is the second time they've had it. Hope there's not a third! |

I have noticed the Forums are a bit quiter than when I was on here the first time around but there still great fun, over time you see repetative Threads but that's to be expected with new Folk coming into the Forums all the time, I do hijack the odd Thread and start some really daft ones for a giggle.
Serious Threads I also post in if I have an opinion and some Threads I just avoid like everyone else.
All in all the Forums are a great way of blowing off Steam or having a Laugh and like someone has already stated People come and go and the Forums will be used more or less depending on this.
One thing that could benefit the Forums for us all if the new Posters aren't given Sarcy replies but a link posted in their Thread showing them previous Threads on the same subject, at least that way they wont be frightened off |

It's the summer, we tend to find that in summer months people have better things to do than sit in front of a PC thus the forum traffic seems to dwindle.
Folks are away on holiday
Kids are at home etc etc
It all contributes to a quieter time in the forums, if the truth be known, site traffic in general is probably down.
There is a website which tracks weekly / monthly / annual %age activity of selected websites and on a site that we previously used, the graph clearly showed a decline in traffic over the summer months, increasing again September (ish) onwards. |

I tend to agree, it is the summer after all with longer warmer days so members will be doing other things-with me I hope!!!.
Come the autumn/winter I imagine the forums will be just as busy. |

The forums are a bit like the telly, you get a season of new programs then they go full circle and all come around again......and sometimes again and again!
There are only so many sexual topics out there after all.
As for Hijacking,it does get a pain in the arse when 2 people Hijack an otherwise interesting thread with ping pong post's to each other.
For the most part they will be a couple of singles.......FFS send a private post and sort out a meet!!
Personally we quite enjoyed the "heated debates",great fun, wish the mods would sometimes give a bit more leeway, after all w're all adults!

The forums were always good fun but recently have been a breeding ground for bully boy tactics where by some think its cool to ridicule the op or slate ppl to death over their comments
or ideas topics always start as a bit of fun or information and end up with ppl arguing over some ppls stupid and very insensitive comments so i think thats why fewer ppl r refusing to comment in here now . |

Well personally i get out in the summer and spend a lot less time on my pc. When its cold and soggy its ok to come on here and chat but if its good weather out side and you can get out and meet people what is the point of sitting staring at a pc screen all day. |

As an old forumite and someone who posted everyday on the old forums and the new ones (so about 3 years), I wanted to put my point of view across.
We all change over time, our life styles change, our perceptions of swinging change, our fantasies and hopes change.
But in all things good, there is some bad.
I've loved the forums for years, I've loved the banter and I love the friends I've made on here.
However, the time has come to back away from swinging. We've had a blast but we've had enough of the back biting, bullying and general attitude of "swinging is a trophy sport" that has been padding around the swinging fraternity for the last year or so.
It's not just the forums, it's swinging in general. Either we are getting too old or new swingers are getting younger. There also seems to be a trend of jealousy amongst couples, disrespectfulness from singles and an attitude of greed from swinging clubs.
I've had women try to get Jason on his own, tell me they are in love with him and generally try to disrespect me as a person and as a swinger.
We've had no shows and bad attitudes, we've encountered rudeness and self pity up to our eyeballs.
I've always been outspoken but I was always prepared to say sorry.
I was a founder member of the Pussy Posse but even that holds no appeal anymore.
I've spent weeks watching the forums talk about politics and sport (and thats about all) and quite frankly...... I'm bored witless. I tried to get people to help me with the Beach Party, they started then backed off because it's too much trouble.
No one, it seems, at the moment, wants to give anything back in swinging and it makes me sad because 3 years ago, we were having a ball.
Alot of the regulars that held the forums together have gone and their place are new regulars, but for FAB, I think the forums have changed too much to ever go back to the way they were.
Just my personal opinion. |

We've met some genuine people from this site, which we wouldn't have met elsewhere, yes, there are some knobs / some time-wasters / some so far up their backside, they'd get lost trying to find a way out thankfully, they're few and far between.
We expect nothing from this site, in fact, we take the site for what it's supposed to be, a place to have fun, if anything develops from an email,we consider it a bonus |

I wonder if forums are not becoming "last year's Ford Cortina". Good in its day, can still do a job, but replaced by the Sierra and then by the Mondeo?
I think that even IM's are suffering. No-one who I once IM'd is ever on line now.
Compare that with new technologies, the shiney stuff that people are attracted to, like Twitter, and I wonder if that isn't the way of the future. I wonder if the future of sites like this will be along the lines of Facebook? |
